Yeah, the orange sucks; it doesn't belong on a Whirl homage. However, I love the head sculpt (at least from what I can see of it).

I'm a little bit disappointed his bio isn't just "NO KNOWN WEAKNESSES".

Does use of these moulds come with a stipulation that they must ALSO have a crappy colour scheme?

Im seriously considering buying him just to mix blue and purple parts and make a semi-G1 colored Vortex...

The head might be useful for custom purposes...

I was considering grabbing him to do the old part-switcheroo with Vortex too, but there's too much paint removal involved.

why have those 2 new 3rd party predaking combiners not been getting any press here but this crap is? this thing is even uglier than the combaticons when combined.

I'll second that (on both counts).

The middle TF needs to be a voyager size. It's way too spindly looking when combined and there's no bulk to it.

If you wish to keep up with Predaking, or any other 3rd party product, here's the forum in which to do it.

Okay, G1 Whirl's rotors were yellow, so the orange kinda' makes sense on them, but as for the orange on the rest of him...

Wait, it just dawned on me! Since even Twin Twist has a blue-orange deco, which makes just as little sense (unless I'm forgetting a Diaclone or Salt-Man color scheme), could the whole point be to give Ruination a more unified look, to better homage Emirate Xaaron?!? It'll largely fail, but considering he was gold and really-light-blue-for-silver in most comic appearances, that would almost make sense. Of course, the resulting Ruination will only be accurate to that one Condor Verlag cover scale-wise...wait, that means these colors will actually make PERFECT sense!

Is it wrong that I want them just for the weapons?

91% isopropyl alcohol will take that crappy orange paint off in 30 seconds. If you only want to remove certain parts, then dip tissue in the alcohol and lay it on those parts for 5 minutes then wipe carefully. Use a pencil eraser to remove any paint stains, then shine up the area with more alcohol. Then get the purple parts from Vortex and begin the de-Hasbro-azation and make the G1 gods proud.

there is only one reason I would buy this figure and that is to rip off his pretty little head for a custom. Can't say I'm excited for any figures that use the Bruticus molds. Wreckers or not. As useless as it is I wish that maybe Hasbro will release more IDW themed characters. This Whirl looks too normal to be my favourite little beast

Look at the decos on all five of the Wreckers... they are almost direct 1-to-1 translations of the RiD Combaticons. Roadbuster is Rollbar, who was Green and Orange. Top Spin is Movor, who was White and Orange. Twin Twist is Armorhide, who was Teal. Only Impactor doesn't follow the pattern, being Purple and Orange instead of Mega-Octane's Green and Orange.

So let me get this straight, they took the combaticons, painted them in their RiD colors, gave them Autobot names and called their combined form it's original Decepticon name?

I hate it. The whole combining wreckers thing is dumb to me. I don't get it.

'cept for Impactor being more his own colors instead of Mega-Octane's colors. and don't forget the Emirate Xaaron head.

Though, if one really wanted to get technical, Twintwist isn't quite the same color that Armorhide's toy was, being a much darker blue instead of Armorhide's teal. And despite Armorhide's show color being tan instead of teal or dark blue. Oh, and Armorhide was the only one who didn't have orange on him (save for his visor) in either of his decos.

Makes me happy I already got Twin twist, Top Spin, and Whirl taken care of.

I realize now this combiner in the left hand corner is the wrecker combiner, I didn't pay much attention to it earlier and missed it. Still not interested in it though.
