Is the left one also from Takara or the Hasbro TRU exclusive?

A little bit of paint goes a long way. He looks really nice but I'm happy with the Hasbro one.

Both. He is also released by Takara as a TRU exclusive. Both takara and hasbro released the same TRU exclusive toys.

To clarify: there are 3 main versions of the toy, 2 from Hasbro (TRU masked, and general retail) and this one from TakaraTomy. However, TakaraTomy also released the Hasbro TRU one, unchanged as a "Clash of the Transformers version". That one counts as a so-called "USA Edition", a Hasbro import released in Japan.

That's not entirely true though. As proven with this year's trypticon, takara will still use the term USA edition when it is warranted. They don't use it here. There is also the fact that all these exclusives were first revealed in the Takara transformer section of a Japanese hobby magazine even before Hasbro revealed them. They also contain substantially more paint than the Hasbro figures. For the Japanese market, these are no different to the black AOE prime redeco that was exclusive at tru. These are simply a retailer exclusive for TRUs all over the world distributed by whichever company is contractually allowed to distribute them. And that's it. Anything else is unproven speculation.

We recently saw a new black Bumblebee redeco from Takara and now Takara is releasing more official pictures. This Black Knight Bumblebee is a Cybertron Satellite exclusive and Takara has listed all the shops in Japan where he will be available to procure by Japanese fans. This toy will only be available in these locations for 3,000 yen, and not on any traditional Japanese online vendors.

So I wonder what those weird handle/pegs are for on dragonus and ratbat, are they for attaching them to the sprue clip, or are they handles, or something t5o help them balance for the photo?

Also, does that airazor have ball-jointed thighs? Are those new

Interesting. Maybe they are 5mm pegs so they can perch in the hands of larger figures.

Also, does that airazor have ball-jointed thighs? Are those new
No the :HASBRO: release is built the same, but they are not ball joints. More like mushroom swivels.

It is so weird how one of those Microns has the same name as the motorcycles from Ninpū Sentai Hurricaneger (the Japanese counterpart of Power Rangers Ninja Storm).

Some people remember the original power rangers as their childhood or whatever but Ninja Storm was like my life when I was a kid even before I got into Transformers.

It was bad ass.

For as cheesy as it started, I have to agree on the whole; now 'In Space', that show was messed up to be watching it as a little kid (I was ~7 when that was on, it dealt with some dark stuff  )

All of the Decepticon's have the pegs, check out the backs of the other two. Probably the same for the Autobots. I'm guessing they rigged a weapon mode into them like a Psychobat sword or Windra spear.

What's with standing them up like they're on feet?

Yeah, I think so, too, I guess that those are 5 mm pegs where the :HASBRO: versions have those rectangular slots to attach them for example to Overloads shoulders. So I also guess that the Deployers from Takara have 5 mm ports instead of rectangular pegs in these spots.

Yeah, but the face color and shade of yellow doesn't exactly scream Wheelie. Also, what? What does the 86 movie have to do with minicons from a completely different continuity?

I dont get the Q-Transformers comment. Those are very different products and the Q stuff is selling very well. Takara is making a nice mint off of those since they must be rather cost effective, all using the same engineering, and yet arent inexpensive.

Sorry if I sound like a wet blanket but I dont think they all reference something specific. Some are just cute nods to decos but thats about it. I preffer the yellow/golden translucent plastic for Grimlock's armour since it brings in the homage to the movie version even more.

I meant that the microns and the q-transformers share a certain 'cuteness factor', if one does well, I'd assume the other has a good chance of doing similarly well; ergo, TT will likely release all the Microns that hasbro has |:|

I see but Q has an edge over the minicons: G1. Q has now become a totally new line for collectors to get their favourite characters in a whole new design. I am sure the minicons will still sell well but as in the west, they will sell well with kids in Japan. Takara had a recent awesome interview where they said that they are still marketting kids as their main audience and the Transformers Adventure line is very much that. The Q line is more of a collector subline that kids can easily get into as well.

So in the end, I am sure this will sell but for different reasons.

Oh I didn't think those minicons were homaging anything. Wouldn't even have brought it up if somebody else hadn't pointed out those other decos. (sorry, was it Lunatic Prime?) I was just playing along, and trying to remember who or if Grim had had any little buddies.

But, Takara IS known to make some pretty obscure references.

I agree with the sentiment that these Microns are meant to be wholly original in both decos and names, paying homage to nothing of year's past.

Well, aside from the aforementioned notion of Barithunder bizarrely having the same name as a pair of Super Sentai motorcycles.

Mecha or characters sharing names between companies is more common than you think, even if the process to that name differs a bit.

True. But, in this case, is the origin of the name "Barithunder" (for either the Micron or the Gouraigers' motorcycles) yet known?

Apart from the paint on the face the rest of Takaras paint apps are kind of unnecessary. Give the Hasbro one the Takara face and I think he'd be the better offering.
