Masterpiece Ultra Magnus Concept Image?

Maybe Takara is rebooting the Masterpiece series.

Seems to make sense!

I know that this isn't really about the main subject but, look at Prime's head, it's hilarious!

Magnus looks awesome!

Hope he does get made, I definitely want one, however considering the price of MP-10 Convoy, Magnus would surely have to be in the same price bracket, which means unless a miracle happens and I win the lottery, unfortunately Magnus would be well out of my price range.

Lol, "interesting" is right. With a couple of tweaks I could see this being a good Masterpiece Magnus.

im definitely not interested in the prime figure, but if they make an ultra magnus ill be all about it, just look at how much the fansproject set goes for. maybe hastak is finally taking notice of some of the 3rd party stuff and givin the public stuff they really want. i was wondering why they would release a new optimus masterpiece, and i couldnt get why he was so small. it makes perfect sense for the mold to be made for ultra magnus, but of course takara is gunna release a prime first. man i hope this is some kind of concept image.

This is just a lousy joke seriously. Takara/Hasbro is RAPING its customers now with Masterpiece toys that are 250% marked up from just a few years ago, and we are getting less product!!!

Why anyone would pay out $250 for this new smaller Prime is insane, its just throwing money away especially with all of the versions of Prime out there now... Its like they are copying the Bootleggers now with this smaller size Prime.

Not to mention all they had to do was make an Ultra Magnus trailer for the original MP OP. WHICH I WOULD BUY!! Im sorry but, When they started charging $150 for Grimlock I was concerned. Then REALLY gouged us with the $200 MP Rodimus.(which I might add is now at $225 for the purple version). I will not and wont buy ANY MP items unless they can get them below $150.(which is tsill $50 too high) Guess that will mean zero for me until someone sells one on Ebay. Got a Sleep Mode Prime MIB on Ebay for $125, lol.

Just my rant on the MP series.

I could care less about the hieght differences, I have the first hasbro prime... Always felt incomplete and freakishly big for a toy anyway. So hopefully they will do another megatron in cybertronian form(which could be retooled as a shockwave too possibly??) or something so we can get that over here in america too.

I will give my masterpiece to my new nephew once I replace my old coke prime with this new coke prime hehe. The last toys I bought from japan were rumble/frenzy and ML soundwave... and soundwave doesnt work...

Wouldnt mind seeing something simple like that used as a smaller clip on upgrade kit for classics Ultra Magnus could be a good cheaper alternative to commander.

Done right it could be decent ,i would buy one.

i have the same problem with my music label soundwave i had it for awhile but it just sat on my shelf, i finally got a mini sd card for it and used it for all of ten minutes when the spring mechanism inside of him that holds the sd card down broke inside, so the card wouldn't stay down. i had to removed the spring inside of him and fiddle with the card to get it to work, then the audio input jack broke off inside of him about a week later. LAME

If they make a MP Ultra Magnus with Trailer I will be all over that. I didn't mind picking up the original MP Prime, but I just couldn't justify paying for the original MP Ultra Magnus, since there is nothing Ultra about him without his armor.

Gah, I hated the G1 trailer for Magnus, call me UN-inspired unless they can make a decent car carrier trailer for once. I don't care how "G1" it is, that trailer was stupid and was illogical. At least Prime's appearance is of a ordinary box truck. Mangus looks like is trailer is a flatbed with a concert set up attached, instead of a car carrier.

You know, a masterpiece Ultra Magnus would probably be a good way to release this mold, here.

I'm not feelin' it, but if it turns out true and cool enough, I may save my money for it.

why not just make an actual ultra magnus?

i get that the original toy used that white "prime clone" but that was then. there's no excuse to do that sorta stuff still. i bet if they put actual effort, they could make a true magnus figure that transforms and all.

he's supposed to be his own character, not prime with armor you know?

Purely by cost, if they can use the already designed Prime mold, and just have to sculpt the trailer to work with it, saves time and money.

To be fair, Don is well aware of this. He helped design all of the 6 inch Titanium figures for Hasbro (though they simplified many of them), one of which was a 6 inch Ultra Magnus where the cab did NOT turn into a white prime.

What surprises me is how many people are assuming that an MP Magnus w/ trailer would cost the same as MP-10.

If they'll charge $250 dollars for a figure with what's essentially a hinged plastic box on wheels - they'll definitely charge more for one with a trailer that has roughly the same amount of parts/engineering as th main figure!

I want to buy into this nuevo MP scale, but they have really priced themselves prohibitively high.

I get that we are not the target market, so we get additional import fees, but the new smaller size scale should place the price much closer to that of MP-04.

If they DO come out with an improved Megatron and an Ultra Magnus with armor, it will be hard to say no, but still this price will make it very tough for a lot of collectors.

If this does come about it will be what i been waiting for .I hated MP02 Ultra Magnus ,i always thought at least TAKARA/TOMY could of at least give him a NEW rifle that looked like his 1986 figures ,since he never came with Prime's Ion Blaster . . Well like i said i hope this happens ,not 3rd party but from TOMY.

No it still is MP-10, but with the waist turned.



You should look at Convoy's backside more!

That must be distortion on the pic, because if not, we've got some serious problems here.

The G1 Ultra Magnus toy looked like crap and so does this.

The MP version looks like it takes more than a few cues from the CIty Commander set.

This pic is just a mock up using parts taken from the G1 toy, simply to get a general idea of what they have in mind. so I do believe the final version will have better articulation.

Yeah, please. I won't feel bad about not being able to afford MP-10 and can definitely save for MP Magnus, plus I get the Convoy mold too!

I also don't care which color I get this mold in. If the white truck cab/bot comes with the trailer/armor,then this will be the version I get.

When I was a kid & owned a 1986 Ultra magnus truck cab/bot. I use to pretend that the white truck cab/bot was the heat plague shielded silver/white Return of optimus Prime colored version.

I realize they are pretty much just pitching a concept here, but it will need a lot of work for me to drop the money on this.
