Are you saying Hasbro's deco is much lamer than it might look on pics?

The red thighs are a deal breaker for me too. I got Hasbro's Ultra Magnus months ago, and I couldn't be happier. Those green feet are a deal breaker for me on Springer too. Even though the desaturated green and yellow are closer to the colors on the animation model, the more vibrant green and yellow on the Hasbro version just pop so much better, and I appreciate the two tones of grays to break things up further and create a more dynamic look. In fact, that helps emulate the color layout of the animation model that much better. That Takara Arcee, though, is perfection. She's the definitive version for my Classics collection.

I have the Hasbro Springer (on the left), and he looks much better than the Takara one. The colors just contrast better.
In some ways, the Hasbro one looks like it SHOULD be the Takara one, and vice versa. THAT'S how much better the Hasbro one looks than the Takara one.

A bit of truth in the statement. Though I won't go to the extreme in the term "lame". Maybe depending on the monitor quality or the picture from the uploads.
The color hue tends to go wacky that when you see the actual item, you go wha?
TT Sandstorm was a good example of this issue. TT Springer compared to the HB, well to each his own preference but imo, the latter would serve as a good base unit for a custom. As it's too dull (the again that's my personal preference).
That or just like people, some figures are more photogenic than others.

Wait, which Springer do you think is "dull?" If it's the Takara Tomy one, I think you mean "the former" instead of "the latter."

Maybe, though I don't have the figure, i looks better in than the other in pictures.

HB, Hasbro. I find that one custom material dull.So the latter. He's like shelf warming all over TRU here in S.E.A.

Ya know what? You're right, I've actually liked every deco they released in the rid'15 line; I was originally talking about the generations/legends lines, because it irritated me that they weren't that great to me; and I felt the same way about the hasbro rid'15 line, so the tav line kinda slipped on by

Well it makes sense, we are in the LEgends thread after all
And I do agree that the difference between Legends and Generations is more "different" than it is "superior". Be it Blitzwing, Megatron, Brainstorm, Jetfire, Whirl, Rattrap and especially Roadbuster, the differences dont really do anything making me want to import (not that it would cost so much more). Though I will say that their Tankor and Rhinox was better and Arcee was more to my taste (especially given the design they went with). Their Gelshark vs our Skybyte is probably the best one of all to show that they can still be superior when they want to be. I own Legends Whirl and... I am totally indifferent to owning it over the Hasbro one. Both seem so inferior to the use of that mold for Shockwave (as you said, their exclusives are pretty great). That Magnus also seems to have much nicer paint apps, even though I am not fond of the choice of red hips (man, that picture with Springer and Arcee totally played a number on me, it's like I was blind and now I see).

Except not, because he wasn't shiny brown ion beast or robot mode.

Hasbro's Rhinox is shiny too, so both toys are wrong in that regard.Hellscream9999 wrote:Except not, because he wasn't shiny brown ion beast or robot mode.
Color shade-wise, however, Takara's has the better brown vs. Hasbro's shade of grayish tan that Rhinox never had in the show.

How do you mean the hasbro one is shiny? I never noticed it, it could be a natural quality of the plastic color.

Having looked at both, while the hasbro one is glossy, it is not metallic like TT's

I find that gold shinier than the beige. But thats just me. Also, I preffer the dark brown, it is more show accurate. But as I said, he and Gelshark are just a few that really look different from Takara to Hasbro. The rest are less obvious. Also, I find the shininess really doesnt work on Takara's Blitzwing. I also was not fond of their AM 31 Megatron. That thing was way too shiny.

No, but it describes a color that looks like polished metal in it's reflectivity, I use that type of color in my art a lot;
I don't really wanna keep arguing with ya, you're a great guy, and I respect you, so: It's a draw, they were both kind of a let down in the color department

In a way it's a shame that Transformers got so expensive that it makes boxed gift sets of random stuff impractical it might have been fun to see some of the Generations/TT-Legends toys in some of the more Eccentric alternative colour options like the Fox Kids colours for example.
Hopefully one day there will be a nice modern T-Rex Megatron in a decent size... Leader might be to big though he really needs to be a bit bigger than the old Ultra but not by much.
Perhaps the only way the design would be proper good though is if it's a Masterpiece like (Beast Convoy) Optimus Primal is going to be.
