One of the last figures released in Japan for their Age of Extinction line Armor Knight Optimus Prime is fantastic retool/redeco of the Leader Class figure. The new parts, including a new head with face changing gimmick, sport a fantastic metallic paint job that just pops. If you've waited until now to buy an Optimus Prime figure this is the one to get.

I like that the cab is kind of almost in scale with Galvatron.
And all the small details like tiny Autobot symbols on the hubcaps.
AD-31 has got some back kibble on him! I knew that, but still, when you actually hold it in hand..
Heh, wish it were possible to shrink it down and store inside his back like in the movie. Too bad, he actually has a nice back underneath all the truck kibble.
Btw, any one else find it amusing that you can sheath the sword on the truck backpack as if it were his actual back?
But otherwise it's a good looking robot mode.
And I think the AoE head design is a huge improvement over the first 3 movies. Somehow it looks closer to the cartoon now.
I like how it pops out during transformation.
The ability to hold the sword with two hands is one of my favourite features about this figure. Not sure about the orange but I ordered another set of weapons for cheap (of the pre retooled mold) to paint silver.

dude take a pill. instead of routinely exploding in these threads about your news, why not email news@seibertron.com directly and ask them?KirbyForce1 wrote:Do you guys just not like any reviewer who isn't Chuck? Maybe they're just not receiving your news submissions. Awhile back, there was an issue between my email address and the Seibertron news system that somehow prevented the news staff from receiving any of the news submissions that I was sending them, so you might be in a similar situation. Since they were able to fix the issue I had, maybe talk to the staff about it and see if your news submissions have been going through or not.KirbyForce1 wrote:Do you guys just not like any reviewer who isn't Chuck? Isn't that more the First Edition OP? I've seen pics where they take the cab kibble off Optimus, and you get a complete Optimus and a complete cab. Now THAT'S crazy.
Posted by shajaki on December 3rd, 2014 @ 6:05pm CST
true, but leader OP isnt that much of a step up. the only truck kibble not on his back is: wheel calves, skirt, and shoulders. so itd take more work than its worth to integrate that backpack better. you might as well make a whole new toy. which no 3P would do.megatronus wrote:Isn't that more the First Edition OP? BTW, did you know you can UNHIDGE the sword holder from Optimus's backpack and set it diagonally to store the sword the proper way?
Also, I got my AD-31 for roughly 100$ shipped. No regret because that Prime is as premium as Takara's Buster OP (Jetfire 2pack version). Yeah, I kinda have my buyer remorse in the form of a 60$+ from TrU Hasbro leader AoE OP. Still, it's nice to have him just to show the huge differences between the regular version and the AD-31 one.

I got AD31 for $65 shipped. I was able to snag one when HLJ updated their stock on the day before the release. Was checking the product page frequently for an opportunity, heh.

I show how in my video. basically the loop hooks into the frame, I find it easier to gently bend one of the panels out of the way to free it, then it rotates up on a double hinge that raises it up and angles it slightly.

I consider $25 expensive, when the Japanese fans get to buy $25 worth of stuff and then get this for free.
Oh well. That's the way the cookie crumbles. Honestly can't complain too badly; us North American fans have it pretty good compared to some other parts of the world.

"25 bucks for a 2 inch plastic sword. s'wrong with that?"

At $25.00 I would simply go make myself one and print it via Sculpteo or another printer...

Wolfman Jake wrote:That is exactly the same sculpt for this special edition Terminos sword as the new one that comes with AD-31 Armor Knight Optimus Prime, correct? I LOVE my AD-31 Op, but those bright orange weapons are gaudy as hell. Maybe it was done on purpose to sell those weapons. Sigh... and I'm one of those sucker who will have to hunt them down.

Sporting a new darker camo design, both in terms of paint apps and plastic color, this Hound will be highly coveted by collectors driven by accuracy, but with the set being a limited release of 3000 pieces and a Japan only release, chances are he's going to be rather difficult to obtain, as well as costly. The set's current pricing is $108.00 USD! You can see the Amazon.jp ordering page by clicking here.
If you do happen to get one, please share some images with us so we can all enjoy this rather rare exclusive. Speaking of sharing images, we've mirrored Robotkingdom's pictorial below:

I actually think the Dr. Wu sword looks better than this. Has that nice orange glow to it that makes the sword looks heated. But I probably will spend money to get that sword since it looks cool when you pose him to look like that scene "Today you stand with us or... you stand against me..."
However if they blow up to be 50$ for it, not gonna happen. You'd pretty much be paying for their transformers at that point.

The Club isn't allowed to use on-screen movie designs since they're partially owned by Paramount. Toy-only designs like Skyhammer are alright, though.

Dont know about you guys, but I am really not fond of the deco we got with the standars hasbro release of Hound. The autobot 5 pack and this version are far too expensive for me so I chose the reprolabel alternative. I actually think it works really well as a cheap alternative. Here is what it looks like:
