Seibertron.com is proud to bring to you today our latest gallery, that of Botcon 2016 Exclusives Reflector and Flash Sentry!

Reflector and Flash Sentry are both retools of the Combiner War Shockwave with new heads. Reflector utilizes Shockwave's arms and the way they tab to force 3 of his toys to come together and form his camera mode. Cameras this size will probably only be able to be handled by titan class transformers, and have a high probability of shooting you instead of capturing your image for picture frames. This is also the first modern toy of Reflector that takes into account his 3 different components to make his camera mode, unlike his Thrilling 30 toy (which turns into a gun, so both will probably shoot you). He was available to Transformers Collectors Club members as well as those who attended Botcon 2016.

Flash Sentry is a repaint of the Reflector mold, transforming into a gun that can be held by any of the Combiner Wars figures. He can also use the Shockwave arms to plug into Reflector and help form a camera, or if you somehow had 3 of him he could make his own translucent camera mode. Flash Sentry was only available to Golden Ticket Attendees. He is a member of the Photons, a subgroup of Decepticons led by Reflector.

You can check out the full Seibertron.com gallery by clicking on any of the images below, and you can let us know what you think of them in the comment section below!

Can we get some pictures of this Bot Con reflector using the little Reflector that came with Sharpshot if it's possible please?

I donno, man. The innovation is great, but if that's a camera then one wall and no roof makes a house....

thats a very clever use of the shockwave mold ;)^
with a little bit of retooling we could have something very close

I find this whole ordeal disrespectful to all the fans and collectors who've been waiting YEARS for a decent Reflector at retail. Not a $90 half@ssed remold from a washed up greedy 2nd party.

I blame Hasbro for this.

That's hilarious, as it is a hasbro design, the original use for the mold if I'm not mistaken. It was also hasbro who gave it to funpub for them to use. It was likely canned due to not making a very good camera mode or something. And for a 3 pack, it was no more expensive than anything else they've released >:oP

He did say he blamed Hasbro for it rather than blaming Fun Pub, so he's at least blaming the right guilty party.

Just saying that they had their reasons for not releasing it (like cw ratchet, and all the many, many others that we don't know about), probably because they couldn't find a size class to put 3 identical figures together in, and that parents wouldn't buy it if it was, can't just throw out the rules of business just for some G1 fans >:oP

I absolutely adore reflector and still think it is the clear cut winner from BotCon 2016 exclusives which is probably the reason why this is the only one I bought.

Makes me wonder which fiction, though. Reflector's bio alludes to the events of IDW's Spotlight: Wheelie with LV-117, as well as to the IDW version of Jhiaxus, but all of the other toys released in the same assortment as Reflector (i.e. - the BotCon 2016 exclusives) fall into the IDW Beast Era continuity circa "Dawn of the Predacus" (save for the different versions of the custom class Ratchet/Medix figure, as the custom class figures don't always match the theme of the BotCon they're a part of), which is a separate continuity from the main IDW one. Meanwhile, Flash Sentry's bio refers to the Photons, Reflector's subgroup from the Wings Universe, as well as to the Battle of Autobot City, which most certainly did not ever take place in the main IDW universe.

I think it's simply bringing in elements of IDW - LV-117 and Ore-1 - into Wings/IDW BW and is little more than a cute reference.

I was under the impression Reflector didn't make the cut on account of deco similarity - rereleasing the primarily purple Shockwave as the primarily purple Reflector wasn't going to knock any socks off.
YoungPrime wrote:I find this whole ordeal disrespectful to all the fans and collectors who've been waiting YEARS for a decent Reflector at retail. Not a $90 half@ssed remold from a washed up greedy 2nd party.
Ah, these old chestnuts. How on Earth does this constitute disrespect, or greed etc? Reflector's a small name, didn't get a huge role, and wasn't even released at retail (well, apart from Japan), so he was released as a minor retool of an existing figure from a niche seller. That's a pretty sensible decision, really.

You know, if we did get a new-mold Reflector toy, if they don't fancy doing a camera mode, a police surveillance van would be a cool alt-mode for them to combine into.

And Reflector is standing next to Reflector while Reflector takes a picture of Reflector with Reflector in Reflector's hands as Reflector looks on at Reflector using Reflector to take a picture of Reflector standing next to Reflector.

With the Club Subscription Service slowly drawing to a close, we bring to you tonight our latest galleries, that of the Club Subscription 4.0 Impactor and Bluestreak!

Impactor is a retool of Combiner Wars Rook with a fresh new headsculpt that captures the shear determination in the Wrecker Commander's face. He is the second official Impactor toy, behind only his Fall of Cybertron counterpart - who was also part of a combiner - and is the club's sixth subscription figure.

Bluestreak is a repaint of Combiner Wars Prowl and Smokescreen, and this is his first time as being a combiner limb. This Bluestreak also uses the rarely seen "blue" Bluestreak paint job, and he fits right in with the Wreckers as well, considering his personality is that of a sniper. He is the club bonus figure for the 4.0 service.

Check out the preview of the galleries below, and you can go to the full galleries by clicking any one of the images below!

Can't wait to see Impactor's new team of Wreckers all together once the rest of them get released (Counterpunch, Fractyl, and Toxitron, while Alpha Bravo and Offroad are both deceased now).

And then they shall Wreck and Rule once they combine into the mighty monstrosity created to fight Thunder Mayhem: Wreckage!!!

Image

His gallery's gonna be so epic once the rest of his components get released. 8-)

I'm also really looking forward to Wreckage, especially Fractyl and Counterpunch.

So, does Fractyl not come with an HFG? I remember reading that Terrorsaur didn't come with one; does that carry over? And negated by using the sword as the Impactor-esque harpoon.

Does Toxitron have a new robot head, while using the Optimus Maximus combiner head on the Motormaster body? Can't recall.

Fractyl should have a HFG. The use of Toxitron's sword as Wreckage's own Impactor-esque harpoon is just a little creativity on the Club's part. When Wreckage was previously formed with Alpha Bravo and Offroad instead of Impactor and Bluestreak, he had two normal hands.

Toxitron uses the Ultra Prime/Optimus Maximus combiner head on the Motormaster body, and had a Hasbro-made pretooled standard robot head that was originally intended for a potential CW Nemesis Prime. But when Takara went and made their UW Grand Scourge figure, any plans for a CW Nemesis Prime by Fun Pub were scrapped since Grand Scourge was essentially the same concept, so Fun Pub went instead with using the Nemesis head for a different evil Optimus lookalike: Toxitron.

The Counterpunch head is also a pretooled head that went unused, correct? Has anybody identified who it might have been for?

I always thought Bluestreak would be nice as a sniper (with blue energy ammunition), which seems to be kind of what they're going for here (albeit with his name coming from stealth technology rather than a sniper rifle).

I need to dig out the impactor instructions with the pic of wreckage, but iirc the instructions show impactor's "rook" hfg positioned as a shoulder cannon --- not as wreckage's foot (in lieu of fractyl coming with his own). The two cars have their appropriate hfg.

Why exactly did terrorsaur NOT come with one?

The simplest answer given was that the factories simply didn't include it when they produced the figure.

My assumption would be that unlike every other single-carded Combiner Wars limb releases, Terrorsaur simply doesn't have a designated/intended team to go with.

The purpose of including Scorponok was to finally complete the cast of pre-beast Beast Wars characters from the show, as Scorponok was the last one needing to be done. The Scamper mold is considered an accessory, rather than a whole figure on its own, by Hasbro, so that status enabled Scorponok to be included in the TFSS 5.0 as an accessory to one of the six main figures rather than taking up a whole figure slot of its own.

As for why Scorponok was included with Fractyl specifically instead of with any of the others, Fractyl's the only character in the set who was originally a Beast Wars character, so I guess it made sense to package one BW character with another BW character.

On the subject of Counterpunch's head, did Hasbro ever tell the Club who those heads were originally planned to be for? Reflector and "Nemesis Prime" were easy to guess, but Rook's (Brawl-like head) and Wheeljack's (used for Counterpunch) are less so.

CW Rook has an alternate head that resembles Brawl's. So far it has only seen use in Club fiction, look up Shattered Glass X-Brawn:

Counterpunch was designed as Counterpunch. Like Reflector and Ratchet, he was one of the suggestions made by the design team to Fun Pub.

As far as Rook's alternate head... OMAM and its prose stories were sort of like the Club's take on Combiner Wars, weren't they? I wonder if there were any hints in there?

Ironclad, yes.

The reason we are to believe that there is a brawl-looking head for the rook mold is not simply because it appeared in fiction, but because we haven't seen what the actual official 'pretool' head is, correct?

In other words, it isn't just because we saw this head in a comic book that we assumed it exists, right?

I understand the reasoning behind believing a hoist head-mold to be in existence, as there is no other reasonable explanation for the SG autotroopers' heads to resemble Hoist's other than it being based on an actual mold, but this alternate rook headsculpt has no obvious re-use that I can see.

Additionally, what is with all the claims that the wiki has for this 'Ironclad' character appearing to be an early plan for a technobot? 'Mustard tan and grey' doesn't ring any bells.

Apologies for the wordy post, hopefully my point gets across.

The final "Of Masters and Mayhem" prose story, "Lively Pursuit", explained (or at least strongly alluded to without just coming out and straightforwardly saying*) what the Brawl-headed Rook pretool was going to be: A brand new Technobot named Ironclad whose deco would have been mustard tan and gray, and who would have replaced Afterburner as a limb like how Alpha Bravo, Offroad, and Rook did for Slingshot/Quickslinger, Wildrider/Brake-Neck, and Groove, respectively, with Afterburner still accounted for via a use of the Legends class Groove mold, which would have had him attach to Ironclad in arm mode to be Computron's sixth component a la Powerglide for Superion, Blackjack for Menasor, Legends class Groove for Defensor, Shockwave for Bruticus, etc.

I read the story before I even saw the Wiki's reflecting what the story said, so I knew what the story was talking about without the Wiki's help.

Why the plans for Ironclad were nixed we can only guess, but I strongly suspect that Takara's producing their Deluxe class version of Groove, and then its having been retooled into a Deluxe version version of Afterburner, had something to do with it. My theory is that Takara were the ones who created the Deluxe Afterburner retool, while Hasbro was originally going to go with using the Legends class Groove mold for CW "Afterbreaker". But then Hasbro saw Takara's Deluxe Afterburner, and decided to go with that instead of making Afterburner a Legends and replacing him with another newcomer. After all, with CW Computron being in a Collection Pack instead of in separate mass retail figures, Hasbro probably figured that the more hardcore adult G1 fans would be the more likely consumers for the set than the younger, less-G1-beholden fans, and deduced that a Computron whose limbs all consist of the classic members would be the more enticing option. But, as Hasbro was not to let Computron go without a sixth legends class member, a simple retooling of Cosmos w/ Payload into Scrounge w/ Cybaxx both fulfilled that quota and added an extra layer of 1980s G1 nerdiness to the set.

* -- Because the story expected that its readers would be savvy enough to recognize what it was alluding to without having to bluntly spell it out for the readers.

Okay, so the way in which Ironclad was referred to essentially describes that he was a planned technobot at some time, and the fact that we see a similar head on X-Brawn practically confirms that this head is in actually in existence. Whether or not it will be used on a toy is a different story.
Did I get that right?

And, yeah, after reading that there was an Afterburner attachment to Ironclad, I figured that it was the groove mold, and that Ironclad would have formed an arm with Afterburner on top, rather than Afterburner forming it himself. What I didn't get was that Ironclad was a completely new character, and that the 'mustard tan and grey' was just a nice color scheme. Thanks for clearing that all up. ;)^
Also, that reasoning is exactly what I suspect was going on inside Hasbro.

I've decided to sell my Thunder Mayhem, Bluestreak & Impactor, loose bagged (unopened) Predacus, and Botcon Magnaboss (Tigatron, Unit-3, the three retail toys with stickers).

If anybody's interested before I put them on ebay let me know. Thanks.

I know there are fans and Club members out there wondering what's going with the Crossover toys and TFSS 5.0.

The TCC will be adding the latest update on all the specifics into the next TCC Magazine (Issue #72).

If you paid for the toys, you will get them. And it will be the TCC/Fun Pub who ships them out (If you're wondering about a repeat of Sentinel Maximus).
