First up, we have fan favorite Barricade, whose fate was up in the air at the conclusion of the 2007 Movie. It appears he's back with a vengeance and fearsome claw MechTech weapon.

Next, we have a returning background character from "Revenge of the Fallen", Jolt. Originally planned to have a more prominent role in the second Transformers movie, Jolt was relegated to providing the, well, jolt that fused the parts of Jetfire to Optimus Prime in the epic final confrontation.

Finally, we're featuring yet another ROTF character who's role was diminished due to budget, time, or both. Sideswipe thundered into the movie during the cleaving of Sideways, but remained as a background character for the rest of the movie. Will Sideswipe feature more prominently in the upcoming movie? Only time will tell.

I'd buy Sideswipe if his colors weren't so bland, because that gun is badass. Too bad they seem to give different Mechtech weapons to repaints.

Look at what Mech-Tech does.
It stunts your growth.

That's quite a size difference.

Jolt's actually pretty cool. I like him better than his ROTF incarnation -- except for his color scheme.
Can anyone confirm with their Jolt that mine is missing half of his right eye? I'm sure it's just a fluke that mine is screwed up, but I'd like someone to confirm before I go out and drop another $12 for a replacement figure so that I can return this one.

As for the new Sideswipe...

Barricade is the exception height wise. Worst offender of this bunch. Jolt's pretty close in size.
Oh, that's disappointing. I was under the impression that DOTM Barricade is actually taller than his previous Deluxe.
I was hoping he'd be about the height of Battle Blades Bumblebee.

DOTM Barricade is a huge improvement over previous Barricades though, despite his height challenge. I guess I didn't realize how crappy the original Barricade was until I got the DOTM one.

Yeah, those Movie 1 toys are pretty dated now I'm willing to give the new Barricade a chance, but the height issue is disappointing, especially since I don't care about Mech Tech.

Megatron Wolf wrote:Jolt needs more coloring like that he looks like a prototype or KO figure, sideswipe also looks like a KO but the mold it self is crap so it doesnt matter, Barricade looks pretty good except his weapon sucks & hes to small. Barricade was the only figure i was going to buy before i started my boycott of the line but im not paying $13 for a figure that small. Remember back when we use to pay 10 bucks for deluxes that had awesome paint apps, didnt break if you looked at em wrong & you didnt feel ripped off when you bought one or put it on display, good times.
They're $9.96 at Walmart.

Talking about paying more for less! and i wonder if Barricade used his MECH-TECH weapon as directed?
Posted by Stockade on May 13th, 2011 @ 6:24am CDT
Barricade: Nope, naada, PASS.
Jolt: Maybe, but still too drab for me and nice improvement over the previous ones. On the fence.
Sideswipe: epic FAIL!! hasbro went cheap-ass on this figure! lame mold and lack of paint luster, what is hasbro trying to do, create a line that customers or parents have customize or paint the toy now? this is horrid!!!!
Only Shockwave, Skyhammer, and Megatron are the winners for this round, unless the HA line impresses me, which i doubt it, i know my money will be devoted to Fans Project, PE and CD will be dedicated to them and even some of the new GI Joe stuff coming out in a few months, looks 10X better than this!

Jolt looks like he is from another cartoon almost Gormiti like?.
Barracade i still like the original design the only good thing again is articulation.

I really like the Sideswipe, crappy paint apps notwithstanding.
I'll give mine a repaint.
Jolt actually looks pretty good, but I think he is on my skip list.
The character does nothing for me, and in 6 months I'd just pack him away with the rest of the movie-verse extras.

Barricade; It's fun to see the character evolve from '07 Movie Deluxe to ROTF Human Alliance to this. It's certainly the better mold, and a good pickup for anyone who missed out on the previous two Barricade incarnations. However other than that.. it's a pass for me.
Jolt; The mold looks better than the ROTF version but the colors are extremely lacking
Sideswipe; I'll get the figure, just not this one. The corvette looks well engineered but there isn't a dull grey corvette on the streets of Midgard.

Thank you very much for posting pictures of the new DOTM toys side-by-side with their ROTF counterparts !
I missed the comparison in the earlier DOTM toy galleries ...
My conclusion ? I like the new molds, specially the Deluxe Barricade (he looks like a scaled-down version of the HA Barricade, that's a great mold).
However, the DOTM toys are really missing some paint applications (specially Jolt and Sideswipe).
Who knows ? Maybe Takara will surprise us with some fine paint-jobs ...
The real-kill for me is the smaller size. I feel frustrated just by imagining those toys displayed together my ROTF collection. The solution is to buy all new toys and make a new collection for DOTM, or buy nothing. I will end-up buying a few selected must-haves, like the Leader Class toys and the new Human Alliances.
What I really would like to become reality ? A KO company releasing copies of the DOTM molds without the crappy mechtech weapon and decently painted, but scaled-up to match the sizes in the ROTF toy-line.
Let's wait and see ...

I have to agree on both counts. The mold looks pretty good, color scheme not so much.

f-primus-unicron wrote:actually the new barricade has his knees "bended" but he is almost the same size at the head, still the 2007 one is bulkier, but this one is better, i dont care what people says, this is thounsand times better than the 07 one i have the recon and is one of my favorites but the new one looks really god to me
Oh no no no. This one looks better, but transformation wise? No. Those legs are a total bitch to work with when going back to vehicle mode. I cut a finger doing it. Even Peaugh complained about the transformation.
As for the figure's size, he is somewhat shorter, but depending on how you configure the legs, he stands almost as tall as his original counterpart.
Not a bad figure, but better? Not entirely sure of that.
EDIT: I like Jolt's legs, but not his feet. I still vastly prefer the ROTF Jolt, which I will keep. This DOTM one is not a replacement, it's a joke.
EDIT 2: Sideswipe has a Mechtech vehicle mode. If you look under the hood, there are holes near the corners of the front bumper. There are posts on his arms. Those posts go into those holes, and it forms a Mechtech vehicle mode. Bumblebee has something akin to that as well. You lift up his roof, and there's two cannons.
This was revealed over at TFW. I don't have the link or the pics, but there is provided proof and it does work.
