Seibertron's
Gallery Quest 2500 continues with the addition of
Starscream from Takara's Movie Masterpiece series! Takara's version of the
HFTD Leader Class Starscream mold is free of Cybertronian tattoos and sports a more realistic weathered deco. Other differences include subtle variations in their paint applications in robot mode, and upgraded packaging to reflect his new found Masterpiece status. I've been kind of on the fence about buying this because he's so expensive for a leader figure, but he looks really good. I wouldn't mind seeing some pics of him next to premium Megatron.

Once I'm doing my sweep of Movie figures that I've missed and need to get, this beauty is on top of my list. It's wicked.

I'm glad I already got my MP-M01 last Christmas ...

While the extra paint apps and detailing make Masterpiece Movie Starscream look great, at $109 I think I can be perfectly happy with my HFTD Leader Starscream. I got him for $30 on clearance the other day. I'm not a fan of most of the movie figures, but for that price, I had to get him. He is truly one of the best figures I own!

It's a nice figure with a very nice (read: MUCH better) paint job.
But I agree with anidrew, not worth $100.

Beautiful gallery as always.
Despite being a huge Starscream fan, I passed on the Takara version because an extra 50 bucks isnt worth the tattoo removal. My HFTD Starscream is like an MS-13 member. Tattered up for life.

meh...the only thing that's cool about takara's SS is the box. That's about it for me, idk there's just something about his paint apps that make it look....bleh(don't know why but energon prime comes to mind for some twisted reason.) I'm uber happy with my HFTD SS even more so since I painted him up a bit.

I see confusion in the labelling! I had trouble with deciding which labels to stick (and where), so I just looked up the F-22 used for Starscream and other F-22s. Basically I ended up giving the realistic decals to the Masterpiece and the equivalent ones with the Decepticon symbols to the HTFD Leader Starscream! Simples!

No confusion. Just preference and to demonstrate the stickers on the toy for everyone. I decided to put both wing stickers on so that I could have a few shots with the both stickers. I may remove the stickers and reapply them to do exactly what you suggested.

Did anyone get the Bumblebee from this "Masterpiece" series? Are there any significant differences? If so, what are they? I wouldn't mind getting it from a clearance sale for $30 to $50 at some point if nothing else has a higher priority, but I just can't justify spending more money on that mold.

Uck, no way. The regular one is broken up by his darker paint apps and his tattoos; it gives him depth when you look at him. This new one is just a big wall of grey. Not attractive.

I want this one. I want one without those damn ugly eye sores all over his body.

I agree. Kind of wish I hadn't bought it but oh well. It's a great repaint for $30 or $40, but not for $100+.

Ah okay, no worries!

Wow I didn't know anyone would thought the same way as I did. Caused even though Takara SS had better paint apps overall, I prefer my SS with the tattoos.
Only thing I regretted is not waiting until SS goes for clearance before buying him, hes half the price now that I initially bought him for..
