I am getting a little bitter towards repaints that HASBRO should have done originally. The movie premiums come to mind first, G1 Starscream deco on Classics Starscream, etc.
Good find DS.

That TFA exclusive Sunstorm exclusive set is looking mighty enticing as well.

I guess it's kind of cool. Not a huge fan of the whole Longarm/Shockwave thing, it takes from both characters and each should have their own mode. It's not worth their robot modes looking like that when they could be pretty insane. Think about it, If Shockwave was JUST a purple and yellow animated tank by himself, would that not be sick? If Longarm did something else cool like stretch or have a better alt mode, would that not be cool? I think this whole thing just kind of made me angry because of the G1 fan I am.

Can't wait for the regular Shockwave to turn up in my neck of the woods though... I think it will be one of the best figures in the Animated line.

Hell no! I love geewun Shockers as much as the next bloke, but the fact that TFA Shockwave is a quad changer and a spy bot is what makes him so damn cool!

You know they planned this. Do it just to get us to buy more figures. They release the original mold in different colors with the intent of releasing a G1 related repaint later. Almost guarantees double income on the molds. If they had released the purple one first, and the grey one second, there would not have been NEAR the interest in the repaint. If you look at it that way, it's brilliant marketing strategy.
But DAMN is it ever annoying....

That's my plan too, and if you seperate by faction they'll be far enough apart on the shelf they will further look different.
The Sunstorm repaint is gorgeous, I hope we eventually get Ramjet and Thundercracker in it too. Seekers are one mold that can be as many colors as the rainbow and I don't think anyone would complain. I just want the full TF: Animated set in Voyager class, and the femseeker better have a slightly altered mold though.

Just look at the grey version as the pre-transformers color(which I actually prefer) and the Target xclusive as the G1 color. Some people do enjoy the hunt of chasing down every version of a collectible others doin't.
I actually am looking forward to this as I bought the grey version and now my 8 year old tells me how awesome Shockwave is and now she wants one too. I can get her the purple one and not have to worry she is running around with mine.

That's a really good point - I forgot about that!

Of course they did. First off, like you said, no one would buy a gray repaint of Shockwave if he came out purple in the first place. Secondly, they wouldn't use a purple Autobot in TFA. Gray was more "neutral".
Just like we'll probably get a remould of Wreck-Gar into "Menasor" (Motormaster, but they won't be able to get the name. You know, that ol' song and dance)
