The Animated toyline is far from dead, as figures that were shown at San Diego Comic Con 2009 appear to be well under production. GenZhao of
KOToys has gotten his hands on two Voyager Class figures,
Animated Blackout and
Animated Thundercracker. Animated Blackout is a brand new mold. He takes the shape of the monstrosity that we saw in the Animated episode 'TransWarped', and is clearly paying homage to
Movie Blackout. Thundercracker is a repaint of
Animated Voyager Starscream, who had only previously been an
Activator figure. With this slew of Animated Voyager figures being seen now, you can expect pictures of Wingblade Optimus Prime to show up very soon.
Thundercracker;
Blackout;
Remember that these photos are not always to be the final product, and are far from what we may see when they are released. The
Animated toy line, unlike the Animated TV series, is expected to resume after the Revenge of the Fallen toy line starts to die down. Animated will be released subsequently with
Universe 3.0 in the
second half of 2010. You can check out the rest of the galleries of each picture here;
Thundercracker -
Blackout.

Next time, I'll see the full gallery, at least he is bigger than Lugnut,
. I still like Blackout.

Midget Lugnut never fails to amuse me.
Also... I want that oversized Starscream... but only in SW colours.

Thundercracker will be purchased so I can have a proper seeker set. The baby blue sticks out a little too much, but that's minor. Too bad we didn't know about this before I bought the activator version.

Thundercracker is another step in completing the Starscream clones, just Dirge, Slipstream, and Liar Starscream left to go.

Blackout's vehicle looks pretty good (guns guns!), though his robot mode....is not my style. I would only get him for his helicopter gunship form, and to place beside Energon Bulkhead.

I'm digging Thundercracker's colour scheme. I've got the other TFA Seekers so I must get this one too. I'm a fan of TFA and the Blackout design, movie and TFA, so this is also a must buy for me. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming wave of TFA toys.
Thanks so much for finding these photos!

Blackout does have a neck, short, but a loyal representation of what we saw in the cartoon. I'm not digging the size, though. This is why i never got Lugnut. Movie Blackout was already a disappointment, and now this. And, any animated fan who says they're not getting Thundercracker are either lying or crazy. Bring on the coneheads!

It's a nice relief seeing figures that aren't part of the ROTF line.

I agree, though there's a Leader class Bulkhead that scales well. I originally passed on Voyager Lugnut because even as a Voyager class figure, he's small. But I found him for $10 so I picked it up for my collection.

I'm definitely getting Blackout. He's a great representation of his movie counterpart. That's a pretty big feat too; especially when you consider how different the movieverse bots are from the animatedverse bots. Movie Blackout in Animated styling and Animated Lockdown in Movie styling...I'm loving this!!!

Nope, I skipped that, Elite BB and I plan on skipping Goldfire Grimlock too.
I can't wait for these two!!

Nope. I have the Voyager class version and that's enough Lugnut for me unless a Leader class version becomes available, which it won't.

I'm a little disappointed in Blackout, but I'll probably end up buying it when I see it on the shelf, and he'll probably look pretty cool next to Atomic Lugnut.
Thundercracker is a total pass. I still hate that mold and I'm sorry I bought Starscream; it's my least favorite Animated figure. There's just no way to pose him that doesn't look stupid.

Both versions of Lugnut are Voyager-class. Atomic Lugnut just has a cooler paint job.

Oh, I meant normal coloured Voyager version of Lugnut. The Atomic Lugnut looks cool but I was only going to get 1 Lugnut and only got it due to the discount and so if I have 1, I'd rather have the more show accurate one to fit in with my collection. Now that isn't to say that if there was a good discount on Atomic Lugnut I wouldn't consider getting it. He's such a cute little guy.

no offense to people who like that blackout but that blackout is just like a bit of a copy on the 2007 Blackout and 2009 Grindor. Bad choice, hasbro, and bad choice for the TF:A people to make it a copy,

I still don't get how an animated figure is more movie accurate than the actual movie figure. If they ever get around to making a leader class Grindor/blackout they need to just use this design, just more realistic. His hands form his helicopter tail, the rotors sit on his back, his legs make up his body, and the helicopter cockpit splits open to reveal his head and his chest gun thing. If they can do it with the animated line I don't understand why they can't do it with ROTF..
This figure is cool though. maybe the only animated I ever buy.

It's the Transformers Animated version of the character I believe...it should be a "copy" or rather an adaptation. In the brief appearance of the animated character, it did an energy stomp type attack that we saw the original version do in the 2007 Transformers film.
Afterall, there's a RotF toy version of the TFA character Lockdown. It's the same deal.

Animated Prime is a copy of Cybertron Optimus Prime, Starscream is a copy of G1 Starscream, Rodimus is of Hot Rod, Waspinator is of BW Waspinator etc. Why should they not base a character off a movie design?

Blackout has symmetrical hands with that disc-eject thingy being a handheld weapon? He has a nuke symbol just under his rotor?
Dangit, and just when I thought I've completely gotten over animated! Then again, Blackout is a homage to a live-movie character... Not really that interested in Thundercracker though.

Blackout's back propeller seems to be a launch-able disc with the trigger being located on the bottom
nice
, but I still don't really want him, my brother might get him though
