Scout Skystalker and his convention repaint Smokescreen have both been Decepticons. Both have been paired with a bigger Decepticon and matched in similar paint schemes. Will Hunt for the Decepticons Scout Sunspot break the chain? Yes, he's a Decepticon, but for now he's unpaired. The only remaining name that's been floating around is Voyager Strafe, still untied to any Transformer figure. For now, thanks to HK-TF member chulik, we've got some images which you'll find below.

Meh.

That's all I gotta say. My real focus for this year is Generations.

We have very few Decepticons that are this brightly coloured (G2 aside). I intend to get him.

...yeah, I get the homage to Sunstorm thing, but come on. A marshmallow peeps-colored SPY DRONE?

Hmm, I thought it had more maroon/brown/red parts.

I already have Skystalker, and I don't buy repaints, so I really should stay away from this guy.
But the mold is awesome, and since it can sit on Mindwipe's shoulder I could give him a shoulder angel and devil

I like the colors very much, but I don't care to own this mold again just for a color variation. Pass.

"I'm bright yellow and white."

Mm hmm. And what are you supposed to be?

"A spy drone. Stealthy and invisible."

....

(That pretty much sums it up.

...what are they thinking?? Is the team at Hasbro just throwing darts and hoping they hit on an idea? This is as sensible as wiping your ass, then taking a dump.)

I'm no expert, but aren't most of these remote-controlled drones coloured white in the real-world?

A quick google/wikipedia search shows a lot of light/white colored UAVs.
Not to mention a black plane would be far more noticeable than a white one in the sky.

Lots of exceptions pop into mind, but aircraft tended to have dorsal camouflage and ventral white paint up until, what? Vietnam? I remember F-4s having white bellies. Then at some point they moved to light grey all over. I guess it might have been to accommodate rolling & looping etc. Or maybe they simply acknowledged that modern air-combat, being so fast and over such great distances, and so dependent on radar that the naked eye had become nigh useless?

And really, it does seem more logical to paint a spy drone a light color. In daylight, black would pop-out against sky blue, and at night the white should be no more visible than the black unless someone puts a spotlight on it. IIRC, the black coloration of SR-71s, B-2s, and F-117s were due to the older formulations of RAM being black, while newer stealth technology doesn't seem to rely on the same material.

Of course, none of that justifies large amounts of yellow.

And Voyager Strafe? Maybe an homage to G2 Spacecase of the same mold?

The mold is a surprisingly good one... I can easily see troop building with this little guy. The color choices are odd, to be sure... but he's still a fun figure!

Say it's Nebulan camouflage. With all the wild colors on that planet, you can get away with practically anything!

Oh, I have no problem with the mold. I have the original. He's rather neat and a bit complex for a Scout. You'd think his spring loaded feet would be a problem, but they actually function quite well.

I like his scythe weapons as well, and how they integrate seamlessly into the wings.

The Global Hawks were all white very early in their career, then there was a transitional "tuxedo" pattern before they went to an overall Gunship Gray scheme (like 99.99999999% of all USAF aircraft).
Most other (operational) UAVs/UCAVs though, seem to be a lighter shade, either Compass or Ghost Gray.

Who cares if the colors would work in combat ??? The damn toy looks cool in yellow !!!

I wish they would issue a classics Sunstorm in the Generations line.

Really? Over twenty-five years of oddball alt modes, crazy color schemes, and some fans still argue about real-world application of a Scout class repaint? I mean, really?

Well, the movie lines and Classics/Universe/Generations are aiming for realism for most of the toys...

In the kindest way possible; And? You just said "for most of the toys". Does not the repaint in focus automatically include itself in the otherwise category? Which makes me wonder, again, why the issue? We're a few years away from three decades of fictional, reconfiguring robot people chalk full of believable & unrealistic stories, elements, alt modes & color schemes from '84 to date. Even in the lines you mention (Classics; Nerf Gun Megatron, unreal-jet-Jetfire, imaginary-car Bumblebee/Universe; multi-colored jet fighter Seekers, red & blue lion Leo Prime, orange-barreled tank Galvy/Generations; War for Cyb in its entirety, heavy duty blue mobile artillery cannon Darkmount-Straxus...to name a few) have their non-real-world-app'd figures. Not to mention the fact its a repaint, which tend to get out-there half the time anyway.

Again, with the beginning-to-date history & habits of the Transformers fiction & toyline; I don't get the nitpicking on the color scheme of a Scout class repaint.

I never saw the original in stores so I hope, I hope this one makes it. I like his paint scheme. I just hope he's a nice tight toy.

Very cool. If Strafe turns out not to be a Technobot homage and is a Mindewipe redeco with a sheme similar to this, I'll pick Sunspot up. That's a neat name, by the way. ;)^

I really like his colors, personally. In fact, that's exactly how I'd paint a Spy drone.

"Did you see that?"
"What?"
"that bright yellow aircraft that just flew over."
"...You need more leave time."
