Kinda like Punch/Counterpunch, Doubledeader, (Double)Clouder, and Shockwave/Longarm (Prime) with having two Robot Modes.

He looks like the Terrorcon Blot in anorexic mode- a well hung one at that!

Great high-quality, close up pictures though.

Looking this mean, I don't know how he'd be converted to the Autobot cause.
I sure hope the bigger version of him looks better.

We can't really gauge what Jetfire will truly look like in the movie based on a Legends-class figure, but I'm intrigued by the seeming homage to the Robotech gerwalk mode.

IMO Jetfire look very decepticon like with the trademark red eyes and a menacing hunchback body.
Maybe its a disquise, but It reminds me of Dinobot for some reason.
When Dinobot joined the maximals he was basically the same, still ruthless, but with a code of honor and respect that had to grow over time.
This time maybe Jetfire is a natural decepticon, and not a peaceful autobot that happpend to be with starscream like the show.
this makes him joining the Autobots more interesting, becasue he sould still be deception, but with a respect for Prime.

The Go-Bot Snoop was an SR71 Blackbird. It actually had a cooler robot mode.
The Go-Bot Vamp's robot form even looks similar to this one's.

So much for being Autobot Jetfire.

I *still* do not understand why they are giving Generation One names to these things. If they have no resemblance in the slightest way to the namesake, why give them that name? If there's no homage to the original, I would rather them be new characters altogether.
Regardless of the name, this toy looks terrible. Like someone else said, it looks like a little Z-Bot from the 90's.
Why do I get the feeling that "Jetfire" is going to be the roaring, non-talking, dimwitted type?

Because he might be a rehash of Devestator from the first movie. He will put up a huge fight and get killed before he says more than two whole words. Maybe he will just say something in robot "talk" like they did in the first one. Duh...
So much for the smart scientist element. I can't picture a good natured scientist looking like an anorexic G1 Blot with a long robo penis hanging down. He looks like a Transformer that Gwar would tear up in one of their shows. "HangerCon!" LOL!
He does not appear to be modeled after the personality of the G1 Jetfire at all. Again, just make up a new name then.
HangerCon or HangingCon, Nosediver, Ichabot Crane or Hemroidicus Burn (instead of JetFire) would be apt names to choose from.
No doubt the one on the big screen will look better. These mini sized things usually don't do the characters much justice.

I understand the comments about reassigning the cool, collected flying bus scientist Jet/Skyfire name to a hulking menace, but really, this isn't G1. It hasn't been for a solid year and a half now. Why is this such a surprise to everyone?

Exactly my point.
I can accept Optimus Prime, since there are tons of other Optimus incarnations, and because Movie Prime at least has features that identify him.
All of the others have not a single feature or even color remaining that say "I'm _____". I had no idea who they were on sight alone. If not for the name, I would have thought Bumblebee was Hotshot.

Eh, name assignment can just be chalked up to ease of reusing existing trademarks or whatnot. Why file for a new one when there's plenty of ones to pick from?
Besides, Bay probably picked Jetfire because IT'S A JET THAT'S USES FIRE MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
