I'm unsure about this guy. I like how he's getting a remold for the universe line...but the toy has way too many panels in dino mode, and it still suffers from the same weird undercarriage junk that the original had.
The robot mode looks really good though. I'll probably get it only because I'm a huge fan of the character.

It's a shame really. That looks to be one solid mold and it looks perfect for Dinobot, my all-time favourite TF character, but the colour scheme just kills it for me.
Would it have killed them to just get close to the show-accurate colours? it's like they didn't even try...

I genuinely don't understand the choice of colors for this one. It's too bad we already submitted our questions to Hasbro for the month, maybe they can shed some light on the color scheme.

I really like this figure.
Those things on his legs? they're supposed to fold back on his Bot-Mode legs.
And why is everybody whining to be show-accurate? It's annoying.
I am going to get this figure as soon as it comes out.

Reminds me of Universe Galvatron's extra feet. Maybe this is a new concept Hasbro is introducing: vestigial limbs.

This proves once again that the Beast Wars toy truly suck and should be left as a memory. Now that I got that out of my system! I really wish Hasbro would stop photoshoping there prototypes. I tell you this Hasbro; if you paint your new figures as good as the pictures I'd Collect them all.

I think he meant in Raptor Mode. Not the bone like rib design he has in robot mode, but the actual claws under his dino head. between his dinky little arms. There seem to be 2 claws like he had his feet in the old toy.
However in robot mode those claws really aren't used for anything as he has fists now. So he has 2 gratuitous claws in beast mode that only make his chest look really bad.
However I think he's a good update, but for some reason i like the original toy better.

I have to agree that the color choice is pretty bad, but not because of show accuracy. The overall contrast between the yellow to the dark brown to the purple is just... well it's just not the kind of mix that one may find appealing. Now if they made the yellow more of a gold then it MIGHT just work, but otherwise it's just a stomach churner.
As for the chest kibble... well at least it's not as overbearing on this one as it was on the original.

he is still mis transformed. his feet rotate, so the robot feet are showing, and the beast feet not so much, the panels on his legs rotate to the back, and his bone lookin details fold out and wrap around the legs, making them into one peice, not kibble. truth told, sculpt wise, this is the most cartoon accurate dinbot possible, without having super gimp arms or legs. colorwise, ya, im thinking about waiting to see the henkei version.

From my understanding, those are NOT meant to be claws, but RIBS. (not the ribs he had in robot mode on his legs and torso mind you, but raptor ribs.) why they're pointed upward like that I do not have a concrete answer for you, but not even hasbro would put 2 sets of claw hands on the same figure for no reason. People are whining that it isn't show accurate because its SUPPOSED to be in homage to the beast wars character. Homage gets lost in translation with transformers fans and is converted into "direct retool/redesign/show accurate new mold."Badass Grimlock wrote: I am NOT whining. just merely pointing out my point of view.

Surprisingly no one's complaining about the red missle/sword. I suppose I might as well then. It doesnt' ruin the figure, but if they were going to cast it in translucent plastic, couldn't they have chosen a color like darkish blue/black or something? Gonna have to add some paint to this one, cause that is one ugly sword.

Those are his robot hands to imitate his show look, the fists in there are so he can hold weapons.

I can see someone's ribs protruding from beneath someone's skin, I fail to see why this is any different. Plus its a dinosaur, theyve always been protrayed as being bony, especially raptors. Why those things are pointed upwards? no idea. As for the imitating his hands from the show, thats another possibility, but I fail to see how that works too considering in the show and old toy.... his hands were the claws on the feet... and not like wolverine claws.

Whether he is mistransformed or not, is not the issue.
Its the fact that he has a pair of useless claws in beast mode. which seem to only fold back in robot mode. Why not just chest panels to make the best mode more rounded and complete? What is the purpose of the three fingered claws there?
I guess we'll need to wait for a review to find out what the claws are for.

I never mentioned anything about the feet of the NEW toy.
I'll repeat what I said in regards to the "feet"
"... no idea. As for the imitating his hands from the show, thats another possibility, but I fail to see how that works too considering in the show and old toy.... his hands were the claws on the feet... and not like wolverine claws"
What I would like to mention is I highly doubt hasbro's intentions of putting those "vestigial limbs" there were meant to be interpretted as another set of claws. Its not necessary, and not even hasbro is that stupid. There has to be some sort of reasoning to them and the only reasoning I can see at the moment is in dino mode theyre to be interpretted as ribs (awkward yes, especially because theyre facing upwards and not outwards from the chest), and in robot mode they are to somewhat imitate the look of his hands from the show, but it seems to be pretty poor job at doing either one because now they just look like they gave him wolverine's claws.

Really don't know what to say about this TFU figure, he looks kind of cool and doesn't at the sametime if that makes sense and actually lost touch when transformers switch to the beastwars crap.. and now back into transformers just only into the TFU 2.0 series and some TFM as well. Oh well i'll wait until i see him on the shelf at wal-mart or target and that will be the final decision..
OH! anything as far as Cheetor, he is Henkei only! if i decide..

I take back my earier insult to hasbro! This is a great toy! I just saw the pics of dinobot over at TFW2005 and he looks so much better. The dino hands kick ass! I'm glad it's not usless kibble anymore.

By pointing out that they forgot to rotate the feet I was pointing out that they changed his Transformation. putting his robot arms into his Dino chest.
And have a look at this thread: as it shows you that those are his Show accurate hands and not Dinoribs because upwards pointing ribs would be retarded.
