Takara even made Prime look good...better than the Hasblo Crayola color schemes we get. I better preorder a Shockwave soon...time to break open the piggy bank Posted by rpetras on March 21st, 2013 @ 10:02am EDT
DeceptiCobra wrote:Those colors are beautiful! That's how they should have been done!
Prime is definitely an improvement, and how he should have been done in the first place, but I don't like the figure enough to pay import prices.
Oh well, I'll stick with the green I guess.

Nothing new here... Almost all the plastic are differently coloured. Look at starscream, bulkhead, and even wheeljack has a different vibe to him.

All-green Bulkhead looks boring. I like the Roadbuster-homage paint job we got from Hasbro.

Indeed. Optimus Looks better w/ the blue, so he'll stand alongside the Hasbro one I already have (and no, I don't regret it).
Predaking and Bumblebee seem unchanged, so the US figures are fine.
Bulkhead, Jackie, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave look bland. Sorry Takara, I'll stick to Hasbro for these.

Soundwave and Shockwave are GORGEOUS! I must have them both!
Damn it, and I was this close to swearing off buying Takara figures...

Shockwave in a shocking blast yellow, Optimus in different toxic tron style greens, Predaking in icy/cryo tech type blues, Bumblebee in a bug bitingly white and Wheeljack in slicing blue or a maligned and boring style.

Funny how changing the clear plastic on BH voyager Optomus from green to blue makes such a massive difference!
Posted by XDMan on March 21st, 2013 @ 8:17pm EDT
Now give us a highly detailed Ultra Magnus, less neon Predacons, and a show-accurate Smokescreen! And watch out for that yellow light-piping! It needs to be blue!!!!

What happened to saving money? I for one shall take a $20 green sword and window Prime any day. And what's so great about that Shockwave? The only difference I see is the color of the beast armor that I thought we didn't care about.
sometimes I can definitely see the difference, and the reason for paying more for something that's nicer in general, or more accurate to a show or something. Most of the time I don't see enough improvement for me to pay the extra, and sometimes the Hasbro versions are the ones I like better.
Sometimes there is quite a huge difference between US and Japanese releases. Take TFPrime Breakdown for example.

And in that case, it's less "different deco" than it is "Hasbro didn't release it for some reason."

Starscream is bizarrely similar to Megatron now.

OK, first things first...Where the heck are the "combiner" bots that were listed, talked about etc??? I was psyched to see what was up with those...Only Tomy Takara import I've ever ordered was Scourge/Nemesis Prime YEARS ago. Nothing has ever stood out so much I wanted to pay more than Hasbro retail...
Second... I am not a fan of the Crayola-formers (wish the Preds had WAY LESS colors for sure) but these look REALLY BLAND... Only one that benefits is Shockwave. Optimus looks cool with the blue, BUT since it's looking like it isn't Optimus anyways I am good with Hasbro's green.
When it's all said and done... I am not importing anything cuz I have a kid to feed and bills to pay, BUT I would really like to see the afore mentioned combiner we were told about.

Starscream is such an improvement over the Hasbro version. I'd love a small squadron of those.
I'm holding out for decent pictures of Shockwave, Smokescreen, and will wait to see what they do with the Predacons.
Well, it looks like all my money will be going to Takara this time around. Balance has been restored. Huzzah. Shame really. I enjoyed being able to buy my Transformers figures from local retailers again.

I think it says "Museum Masterline Transformers Revenge Megatron Polystone (?) Statue". It also looks like 188,000 yen. Ouch.

188,000 yen?! Mother Futcher...
Why Takara? Why didn't you just go with making a much cheaper DMK kit? Would have bought it in a heartbeat.
