Red Mercury- Very busy as of late, website Red Mercury.co.jp has another first.

The website shows a new set of Marvel Crossovers that combine in alt mode. The two characters appear to be Spider-Man as a helicopter, and Iron-Man as a new type of flying craft. The two alt modes are shown combining together to make one ship.

You can view the original listing here, and check out the mirrored image below.

Discuss this interesting new event below.

It reminds me in style to the duocons... Still, it is the first Marvel crossover that looks cool.

...

The plane and helicoptor snap together to make...a slightly bigger plane? That's it?

For some reason I immediately imagined a Devastator-type gestalt when I read "marvel crossover combiner"...Didn't notice that it was specifcally referring to just Spider-man and Iron Man...Guess I should read the headlines more closely cuz now I'm all disappointed :P

This actually doesn't look half bad.

I bought the first Iron Man, so I might buy this as well.

You mean like what happened in Invincible Iron Man a couple of issues back? Yeah I think Spidey and Iron Man are back on.

And I think this looks very curious. I can't say Spidey really fits a copter but we'll see how the robots turn out.

The new marvel croosovers have their strengths and weaknessess. Don't get me wrong they do capture my interest. But I'm beginning to find alot of repetative products being released. Think back to Star wars crossovers and how that line slowly declined to get what I mean.
Its getting quite boring. I understand people at Hasbro need to squeeze out alot of creative juices to create these figures. But I believe they can do better. Apart from the repaints being produced I've heard a few people whine about some of the figures. Example Hulk looks great in robot and tank mode. I've read how it can be better. I've seen a few pics of a megatron figure modified from the hulk figure and even though there has been only a simple addition made, the robot and tank mode looks much more cool. For those guys wondering, its at this webpage,
http://jin-saotome.deviantart.com/art/M ... 910.Simple yet appealing.
As for the spiderman and ironman combiners, from the low resolution spiderman heli mode looks nice like beast machines obsidian and ironman plane mode looks good but has a very close resemblence to stargate/stargate-sg1 guaold fighter jet.The combination looks interesting. But like other members I'll have to see how the hi res pics look.
And why does it have to be spiderman and iron man?Sure people love the popular marvel characters especially the superheroes and they will sell like hotcakes. But what about a little variety. Other superheros even more villains perhaps. Venom/muscle car is looking lonely and outnumbered. Where is doom? Sinister? The abormination?..Also instead of spidey and ironman what about having a marvel duo who have some better connection like maybe magneto and mystique. Now wouldn't like to have that. Or cloak and dagger.Even maybe the green goblin and hobgoblin combiners.
Personally I'd like to see the people at marvel maybe release a animal based figures for say doc oct, scorpion, sabretooth maybe even beast. What say you guys out there?

I say I don't think there should be another robot-transforming-into-an-animal ever ever ever again...

But that's just me...

Didn't they do that already with the Marvel Shape Shifters line. After releasing the famous Punisher transforming butt gun, they tried a bunch of super heroes/villans that transformed into critters. Like Thor into a bird and Hulk into a Dragon or something...

if they ever do a big, G1 gestalt style combiner, the Fantastic Four would be the obvious ones to choose.
Re: New Transformers Marvel Crossovers -- Combiner-- (868871)
Posted by shadowtyger00 on January 17th, 2009 @ 9:46pm EST
Hulk changed into a t-rex which looked more like the japanese godzilla but a very bad looking one. Besides that line of marvel toys all were poorly designed. Obvious conflict trying to design fully posable figures which could transform. They eventually looked like G1 transformers. You guys know when the people at Hasbro were still making very stiff transformers. Well maybe 1 or 2 might have been ok.
People and especillay collectors everywhere are a little tired of crossovers because its like a sign that people have a huge mental block as what to create next and give to the people. So to keep going they just come up with crossovers. But admit it guys. I'm quite sure one of you is waiting to see a ghostrider/hellbike figure or a doom/maybe helicopter figure especially after the megamorphs line right?
I do agree that if the animal form based marvel crossovers are going to look as bad as the ones from the hulk/t-rex line,(I seriously can't remember what they called that line)then better not.Or look like the characters from animorphs also better not try.
I do agree that the fantastic four would make a good combiner.Just have to be careful with the colors. Anyone think x-men would be a good combiner? This is just an idea but maybe say the x-jet splits to 5 seperate x-men figures which could recombine to form one mega robot figure? Have to be careful with the colors though. Which collector wouldn't like to have that...

As much as I dislike the Fantastic 4, I have to admit they do have the potential to make a cool gestalt...And they DO seem to be the practical choice...

I didn't get the earlier Iron Man and Spider-man and I'm not planning on getting this one. Admittingly, it's nice enough. But why would Spidey turn into a jet of all things? Why not War Machine and Iron Man?

An FF combiner would be almost cool enough to buy. Geez, it'd actually make sence! If they really wanted to milk Spider-man they could even make him turn into their gun, like the old G1 Seacons.

But I'm still holding out for a Galactus planetformer. It doesn't HAVE to turn into a planet, but ... I can't think of anything more fitting.

Tformers- Collector's site Tformers.com has clearer images of the previously reported Transformers crossover Spider-Man and Iron Man combining toys.

The pictures feature robot mode pics of Iron Man and Spider-Man, the alt modes, the alt mode combination, and a new picture of another sort of combined robot mode.

You can view the gallery of pics here.

Iron Man actually looks pretty cool in both modes, Spider-Man looks ugly in robot mode though. His vehicle mode is pretty nice though.

Combined robot mode is meh, combined vehicle mode is alright I guess.

I'll probably get these.

Change the hero specific heads and those could very well be transformers.

Asthetically, both individual figures actually look pretty nice (though Spider-Man transforming into a helicopter just doesn't seem right to me somehow) but I find the combined modes very uninteresting and unimpressive...

But you certainly don't have to buy them :)

I kind of like the combined robot mode on them. It reminds me of a flamboyant ED-209  And thanks to this post I dug up my old Spider-Man ShapeShifters. I've got Spidey & Venom posed on my desk now.

Not liking the combined robot mode so far, but getting three out of four modes right ain't bad, so this goes on the want list.

Ok. I've seen the clearer pics on tformers & they do look cool. But why the same ol spidey & ironman I have no idea. Why happened to the rest of the marvel universe?Especially the villains.come on hasbro!marvel give them more charater sheets!

Galactus changing into a planet would be cool.& those of you guys who have darth vader which transforms to death star, this would make an excellent addition.
