Seibertron is on site for the NYCC 2012 Preview Night and we already have our first images! We get our first look at the Transformers Prime Season 3 "Beast Hunters" logo and a new Leader Class Transformers Prime figure with a beast alt mode. According to Seibertron, " Looks larger than Cybertron Scourge Flame Convoy" and is the "Predaking part of Predacon family". Check it out below and stay tuned for higher quality images and more coverage.

Interesting..... I admit I'm a little apprehensive about returning to animal themed alt-modes, but hopefully Hasbro and Takara have learnt quite a bit in the last nearly two decades.
Isn't Beast Hunters meant to be taking the spotlight in PRIME season 3?
EDIT: Having looked at the close up photos pointed out by Sabrblade I'm impressed by it and already can't wait to not be able to find at retailer near me.

After getting Dreadwing, Knockout and Airachnid I am pretty underwhelmed with Prime toys. I'm interested but not hopeful. Fingers crossed this resembles something other than a pile of orange and black parts on release.

Because, aside from Beast Hunters being part of the show, both Primus Unleashed and Beast Hunters are subline imprints. They're partially changing the name of the toy line by putting a subtitle in to reflect on one gimmick.
Primus Unleashed isn't the only ones to do this, but it was the only one I could think of off the bat. Especially when TFWiki is down for me. Others include AllSpark Power, N.E.S.T Alliance, HFTD, etc.

we can't even get characters from prime like breakdown, or the jet vehicon or unicron.. so even if there was an insecticon made.. or a new mold smokescreen, there's no guarantee that we'd see them on our shelves. that's what has really killed TF:P for me.. not getting the characters from the show.. yet we've gotten quite a few repaints so far.
hopefully the beast aspect of it will draw my attention. that figure looks awesome... so it's working. but i really hope we get the figures that have already been made.

Oh, wonder if these Predacons will be a small band of bots like the original Predacons (and maybe even a combiner!) or a full army like the BW Preds, and if they'll be largely "real" creatures like both previous Predacon groups or more mythical like those ancient Decepticons in Cybertron were implied to be.
... I wonder if this guy being called Predaking had anything to do with the Kreon Combiner that is obviously meant to be the original Predaking not being called by his proper name?

kinda wanted him to be a combiner -if he turns out to be ill be happy but other wise its only ok could be better. plus i have a feeling smokescreens going to buy it to recharge cybertron -as he isn't in the group shot this isn't a good sign -also can we get at least a few new bots -overall we have had a lack of new bots for a while now -id like to see a few new faces on the autobot team as well as the cons.

guess now we know who that dragon head was in the "leaked" promo image from S. America back when we first heard about Beast Hunters... The figure has my attention! I'm a sucker for dragons, so add that to my love of TF's, and I'm sold!

No, that wasn't the same dragon, although he might have been intended to be a stand-in.

Seems my relief over Prime not finishing was premature. Please let this be limited to only one 'beast'. Bad enough we already have Thundertron.

I disagree. Thundertron is glorious.
From photos I've seen of this figure, the torso looks very Megatronesque, while the head is just generic Prime-sideburns style. With a see-through orange crest.
I'm not sure how many dragon parts can be hidden though, afraid it'll be a kibble fest.
That will be the selling point, really.

I love beast modes, personally. I grew up on Beast Wars and I've been yearning for a return to some animalian alt modes. They don't have to ALL be creatures, of course, but some more than we've gotten is appreciated. And it seems that's exactly what we're getting.

Good grief, just when I was enjoying Transformers Prime they have to ruin it with Beast Bots. Robots in Disguise.....disguised as a bloody great monster. There are many more bots they could have dumped into Prime before scraping Beasts off the bottom of the barrel.

I said this back when we had the last-season-of-prime scare.
Animal forms make bad toys. Usually have one of 3 problems with their engineering.
1. Lots of animal leg kibble. Organic shaped legs just don't fold up into nice robot shapes.
2. Recycled limbs. Incredibly lazy transformations. Flip up the claws to form arms, straighten hind legs to form robot legs and those poor ankle ball-joints just can't take it when animal heads or wings are incorporated into the top heavy torso.
3. Massively shellformer. Mammoth Big Convoy anyone?
