Seibertron member UltraPrimal informed us that The Official Transformers Collectors Club has updated their website with a preview of the new head sculpt for their upcoming club exclusive Punch/Counterpunch, a retool of the Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe mold.
Right now it's only a sketch of Punch's side on the head. However members of TFCC can log in to view exclusively on the design. If not, you'll have to wait till next week.

Check out the TFCC website here.

Erm, I was hoping he'd have a mouthplate as Punch.

I've seen the full version... it's cool, but honestly, it's nothing we haven't already seen - the sketches are remarkably similar to the artwork that came out months ago. The helmet part hinges much like the original figure's did, pivoting at the 'ears' to cover one face while revealing the other.
I'm more interested to see how they're going to make his weapon work (since they had depicted some kind of assembly of his engine and the muffler-gun in 2 different formats).

My question is whether this is the free figure for 2011 or one they are gonna offer for sale.

I don't think so, I think it's one that'll be for sale.
Sadly I'll be getting 2.

instead of just coloring someone else different and calling him punch/counterpunch, why not just re-release the 80s toy or least make an updated "a la universe" version of him?
plus if they're just re-using someone else's mold, how are they gonna make him a different robot on each side?
anyway i still have the original toy in practically mint condition, i'll play with him instead.

You can already do that with the Sideswipe & Sunstreaker mold. The engine just folds right over the gun. They'll just paint the back of the gun(the tailpipes) yellow for when it's turned around for Punch and the front black for Counterpunch.
I wonder how many our own CP will be getting.
I know 1 club member who is very happy right now.

you're kidding right?

One mold, two different robot-modes.

They probably didnt give Punch a faceplate because they wanted to make each face as distinct from each other as possible so they used Punch's cartoon model from the Rebirth (where he does have a mouth) rather than his toy

I think he means color-wise. Punch is the yellow robot and Counterpunch is the blue robot. Which is hard to do with the SS mold. See?:

Yes, but Counterpunch could remain mouthplate-less like he did in The Headmasters, where Punch did have a mouthplate.rabstanz wrote:They probably didnt give Punch a faceplate because they wanted to make each face as distinct from each other as possible so they used Punch's cartoon model from the Rebirth (where he does have a mouth) rather than his toy

Well, FrenzyRumble did an amazing job using this mold and made it 2 colors.

Just seen the full version. Nice solution to the two heads problem. Don't care about the mouthplate so I have nothing bad to say. The Counterpunch side has good head design too.

Much like Nightbeat, it saves me some repaint work.

I'm more interested in what they will do for the hands.
Either way, it's going to look great.

I bet thumbs at the midpoint, between the second and third fingers.

I'm hoping for slider thumbs like Energon Prime.

"Slider thumbs?" Energon Super Mode Prime had the thumbs midway as described by Razorclaw. For a figure his size that's the best solution, Bandai did the same with a certain form-changing Kamen Rider figure in Japan.

I think what D_S meant is the flip thumb like the Air Attack Optimus Primal has.
Me? I could live with a midpoint thumb.

I think it's too much to ask for a hand that's more than 1 piece on a deluxe. Especially since this is the Club we're talking about. It's harder to make a fist that's 2 or 3 pieces than just 1. The less work they have to do, the cheaper the toy is, for us and them.
