In a preview of next week's Toy Fair 2011 in New York, the Today Show featured a segment highlighting some of this year's hottest toys being introduced at the show. Included in the group were Hasbro's Cine-Masks, masks with built in RealD 3D lenses that allow kids and the "young at heart" to dress up as Bumblebee or Optimus Prime for the new movie's 3D release. The lenses can also be moved out of the way too so after the movie, the masks can be worn for everyday play. And, as an added bonus, the masks come with a set of traditional red and blue 3D glasses and a 3D poster for even more 3D fun. The Cine-Masks will retail for $9.99 a piece.

Expect to see these on store shelves in early summer, just in time for the movie release... and on heads of a lot of diehard Transformers fans July 1st.

I have to admit, this is a great product idea. I wish my boys were old enough to get these... and see the movie.

Can't say for certain but I'd lay money on being able to use that red lens to view the Tech Specs portion of your old G1 TF file cards.
Cute idea and I do have to admit that I'm tempted to get a set just for the poster but I have no intention of seeing the 3D version of the new movie unless I can go all out and see it on the mammoth IMAX screen at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. Otherwise it's just not worth the obscene prices they are charging for 3D tickets at the local theaters.

Got to agree with you there, aside from the Cheesy Nachos  , drinks and sweets (candy) and charge of £9 to watch a 3D film is to much... Watch a 3 hour film or buy RTS Jazz from ASDA :-?

Its a nice idea, but the cheapies at Vue problaly wouldnt like them, that said they'd probaly be selling em... £3 for a VIP seat as well?

Yeah, tempting as this sounds, I'll probably still be catching up on RTS/Generations figs by July, and unable to justify spending $10 on this instead of another Sweep.

Now if there was a Shockwave version too, I'd be sold.

I'll probably keep an eye on these.
Like if there's some kind of free movie ticket with a purchase thing or something.
I've kind of wanted to get a mask for sometime, so, we'll see.

For some reason I can't post a PG rated post... lets just say if I had the optimus mask, I'd wear it during everything sinful.

I was gonna get the normal ones, but if it comes with 3D lenses, I'm definitely getting these.

I really like 3D glasses.

Response #1: Why would they sell a Shockwave version? It's not like he's in the new movie or anything...

Response #2: Given that 3D requires binocular vision, wouldn't a Shockwave version defeat the purpose?

Actually, now that I look at 'em, the Optimus one wouldn't be a terrible Batman-robot cowl mask...

Oh bloody hell, the films not in 3D is it?

I have enough of a hard time keeping track of whats going on on screen as it is. 3D ruins a film. What a shame. Really hope there is a 2D version too or I will be waiting for the Blu Ray.

I can just see Bill Engvall talking about these now...

"I had a guy come up to me and ask, is that for the Transformers movie only or can you use it for other 3D movies too?....Here's your sign..."

Yeah. I don't have kids, but if I did, this would be a really cool thing to get them, and the price seems pretty reasonable.
