Seibertron.com's own Burn has posted a new monthy E-zine covering info, interviews and a peek behind the curtain of Heavy Metal War. Here is Burn's original post with the updated E-zine:
Welcome to "Behind Enemy Lines", what will hopefully be a monthly e-magazine dedicated to all things HMW.
It began by a suggestion from Hollow One that someone come up with an idea to fill in the gap left by Kamjin and Frontline's disappearance.
Thus Behind Enemy Lines was born. The concept is simple, showcase as much of the talent the HMW playing community has to offer as well as interviews, news, crosswords, well, basically anything that can be crammed into it that people will hopefully enjoy.
And hopefully we'll do it monthly!
As of Issue Zero there is only one full time position on the magazine "staff" and that's myself as Editor and Compiler. Will there be other positions opening up? Yes and No.
Because this magazine will be open to EVERYONE to contribute to. Whethere you can draw, write, photoshop, kitbash, compile a puzzle or whatever you feel you can contribute, you can. This is a magazine for YOU made by YOU. There are absoloutely no limitations on it.
Now I think i've just about covered everything in how this is hopefully going to work, so let me tell you about Issue Zero. It's a "preview" issue, 10 pages in total (including the cover). Seems a bit small? It is, because it's just that, a preview issue, to show you how the magazine will be set up.
We've got a sample of a REALLY old interview from Mkall.
Artwork of Gore.
MTMTE bios from Tammuz
A brief excerpt from JP's story for the "Echoes of the Past tournament.
And most importantly, an update on Alpha Strike!
So enough from me, it's time we got on with the show. At this current point in time you have three options for downloading and reading this comic.
• ImageVenue links, complete with thumbnails. - Just click on them to open them up and read. I went with IV because the files are too large for Seibertron.com's attachments option and too large for Photobucket.
• A zip file hosted at Rapidshare - Just download the file and unzip it and use your image viewing program to read
• A CBZ file hosted at Rapidshare - This is pretty much the exact same file as the zip file, just the extension is renamed. This is the format used for digital comics. To open it you need to use CDisplay to view them.
Yeah, i'll shut up and post now.
[size=200">ISSUE ZERO

{ ZIP File } | { CBZ File }
Any problems with any of the links let me know ASAP!.
NOW GO AND ENJOY!

Considering how toutchy Burn gets about spamming, I was waiting untill I had something to say. But if you insist, what there is of it looks good, but why's there a Pred symbole?

Not you dummy And not you guys either. I just hoped that a bigger response could be had from the other three factions. Sure, a few post here and there. But generally, I find their on-board actvity to be rather measily compared to the decepticons. And before some beasty says so, numbers isn't an issue when it comes to activity. As for the Pred symbol, I think that Burn is aiming to use a different insignia each month, for variety.

It hasn't even been 12 hours yet and a lot of people are probably at work/school. I didn't expect to find 3+ pages of "ZOMG!111!". Give people time. If they embrace it, they embrace it. If they don't, their loss. And the use of the Predacon symbol? Well that's easy. This is something for the whole of the community so I gotta try to not show too much bias.

(676929) Posted by Dead Metal on April 10th, 2008 @ 9:51am CDT Wow that looks cool Burn! so it's a magazine, with articles and stuff? Awesome. I guess it will be kinda like this: -HMW story -How to play -Tips -Famous Players -Alt-modes -Cartoon strip -Cross Words -Letters section am I right?
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677010) Posted by Me, Grimlock! on April 10th, 2008 @ 11:51am CDT Lookin' snazzy, Burn.
There may also be a section wherein Bubbatron shows his latest dance moves.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677081) Posted by City Commander on April 10th, 2008 @ 1:08pm CDT HMW-style spotlights would be awesome. But probably a little out of the question. Do we get a free water-gun with the first issue? Or maybe a sticker album | |
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677093) Posted by Sustain on April 10th, 2008 @ 1:18pm CDT
Spotlights are possible in fic sense, I don't think we have an artist that is willing to do so much for free.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677117) Posted by City Commander on April 10th, 2008 @ 1:41pm CDT Indeed. Although, a more simple, cartoony style wouldn't be as dificult to do. Even a good fic will do, of course. It would give some of our more creative HMW players a chance to get in the spotlight. A hmw continuity web-novel.... Maybe Jeep will get a chance to write the story after all! | |

Why not do some recolors. There are those out there who have the MTMTE for G1 and Armada. I am not sure about anything for the squishies though.

I've got the first two from the big comic scanning groups, but as everyone knows, the books suck badly and I don't think they bothered scanning the 3rd.

There are big comic scanning groups? I thought there were just torrents sitting around somewheres.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677342) Posted by Burn on April 10th, 2008 @ 5:19pm CDT DCP (Digital Comic Preservation) and Minute-Men. Combined they scan pretty much all the main releases each week (from DC, Marvel, IDW, Avatar, Wildstorm, Dark Horse etc). They're easy enough to find. | |
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677476) Posted by Burn on April 10th, 2008 @ 7:17pm CDT Just a head's up, i'll probably "launch" this around 5-6pm Seibertron time tomorrow (check the clock down the bottom) so that's a little under 24 hours from now. I'd hold off a little longer but I don't know how busy i'll get this weekend. | |

And here I though it was a nod to KAMJIIN for doing HMW:Frontline
Actually, I pitched the idea to the Preds and to the RDD not too long ago... other than Goribus nobody jumped on it. My idea was for people to write a short story focusing on one of their characters and include kind of a MTMTE spread as well, possibly backed up by other artwork done of the character (or at the very least some shop'd recolors of existing pics) Gor did write a short story, but without the rest I couldn't sell it... that and I wanted to have a quite a few in the works before I launched it so that it could be done every week or bi-weekly If anybody else wants to attempt it be my guest, as with most of my ideas I'm not using it.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677644) Posted by Burn on April 11th, 2008 @ 1:23am CDT
Never thought of it that way, but no, that wasn't it. But don't worry, Kamjin has been recognised for his work with Frontline and it's influence on this. I will NEVER deny Kamjin and Frontline's influence in this little project.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677646) Posted by Sustain on April 11th, 2008 @ 1:24am CDT Yeah I have Gor's bit on Occult, seeing as I have her now. Its good I'll give it that. He doesn't have a pic of her, nor am I good enough at Photoshop to put one together. Recolor yes, cut and paste/warp.. . . No I don't think so. I have one, but its not been posted nor edited, I do have a MTMTE bio for him though. | |
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677651) Posted by Burn on April 11th, 2008 @ 1:39am CDT Do you have a MTMTE template? | |

| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677668) Posted by Jeep? on April 11th, 2008 @ 3:09am CDT I've almost freed my plate of committments now (essays all done, just one commissioned team bio to write), after that I'll maybe write a few spotlight style stories based on characters from the game. I'd like to cycle through the factions in it, so first up would be a maximal or predacon. Who wants to volunteer a character? Bear in mind, though, that my pohotshop skills are hiding in the same place AS is (right about the middle of no one knows where), so I'm only doing the text. This will probably run alongside of the current Spotlight: Vos I plan to return to work upon. Once the Vos one hits a good size I might get to work on Polyhex or Iacon. | |
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677672) Posted by Bun-Bun on April 11th, 2008 @ 3:23am CDT Tempting... a story written by JP... but then I'd have to actually write up something like a bio for one of my Preds. They all have bios written up on random peices of paper in my car, but I can't see myself spending the time to type them up proper-like anytime soon... (curse my un-natural laziness ! and now you see why none of my ideas get off the ground | |
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677689) Posted by Burn on April 11th, 2008 @ 4:27am CDT
As crazy as this sounds, we need pics! Maybe i'm alone in this but I really want to see a car strewn with papers with half written bios on them. And yes, i'll even throw it in BEL.

(677724) Posted by Psychout on April 11th, 2008 @ 6:05am CDT I have recolours/digibashes of a few of my team members but most are out of date and have no backgrounds to them, like this one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v493/ ... itron2.jpg, so if there are any shoopers who can help me finish a few of these off as I no longer have PS, please give me a shout. I have a few stories that may go well with them too. Sustain, could you please pm the me the MTMTE bio template? If I can tonight ill also get some of the (crappy camera) photos of them up into photobucket too, I only found the folder again yesterday.
| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (677849) Posted by Black Eyes on April 11th, 2008 @ 9:47am CDT
This may just be wild internet conspiracy theories but I heard that when Kamjin started Frontline he bought all the right's to any form of media regarding HMW. Thus any publication about HMW must be "filter" by Kam himself and will properly showcase the glory of the Predacon Empire

As for the pic.. yeah you are weird ![]() I had more but I actually did start typing some of them up and once a paper has been inputed it is tossed. Some of those papers are actually small tablets, but I wasn't going to rip them apart just for a better picture. I just realized that I've been carrying most of that stuff around since I was banned (I did some of my best writing while banned

| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (678199) Posted by Burn on April 11th, 2008 @ 3:32pm CDT
I just find it a fascinating inside into one of the minds of the many HMW players. If I have ideas they tend to stick in my head and nag and nag and nag until I write a full story. Others probably bust out notepad or something. If they wrote it down on paper they'd probably leave it cluttered over their tables, I just never thought there'd be a car full of notes relating to HMW! And I don't see it as a bad thing or something to be mocked either, it just shows to me how different we all are when it comes to how we build up the characters for our bots.

| Re: Seibertron.com EXCLUSIVE - "Behind Enemy Lines" - Issue Zero now online! (678340) Posted by Lord Gothika on April 11th, 2008 @ 5:38pm CDT Issue Zero is amazing, if this the beginning issue, and generally things get better for e-magazines, then we are onto a winner with this idea. Well done Burn, and those who contributed articles. 9/10, but if you will allow a little comment, I think the font should be a little bigger as it was slightly difficult to read (though that might just be my monitor) | |
