The Toyrsus exclusive Clash of the Transformers Robots in Disguise Warrior Starsceam figure was released a while ago to great surprise by the fan base but it was still unknown how Takara's version would look like. It has finally been revealed. It will not be an exclusive, unlike last year's Clash fo the Transformers figurs which were the same in Japan as in the rest of the world. Instead, this new Starscream is part of the main line and sports the code TAV 62. It has a similar deco theme to the Hasbro version with a few changes and extra paint apps (ex: chin, abdominal area, a red line on the shoulders). A comparison can be found below.

TAV61 God Optimus Prime has also been revealed. It is a redeco of TAV50 and has a very similar deco to the Hasbro version of this mold known as Power Surge Optimus Prime. He also comes with three minicons, it seems, including a clear version of Weapon minicon Dragonus and Tricerashot. Comparison images can also be found below. Let us know if these are worth the import, especially at the higher exchange rate. They are currently available for preorder at Takaratomymall for ¥2,700 ($27) and ¥9,720 ($97) respectively and coming out November 12th 2016.

Who on earth would pay $95 for that dumbed-down prime

(especially since habsro's has all those additional 'energy' paint apps) you could buy the hasbro release and paint it up yourself for a sliver of the price 8-}

Also, wouldn't it be more since TTmall doesn't let people order them from outside of Japan? So wouldn't they be even more expensive from the likes of bbts?

Only if they were exclusives, giving the other distributor (Hasbro Asia or now Transformers Asia) ability to ask for more. But these arent exclusives, so they can still get them from any middleman. BBTS and TFSource can never buy directly from takara (doesnt matter if they are ttmall exclusives or not) but when they arent exclusives, the amount of middlemen they can buy it form is very high and thus the rates are far more competitive, so they can charge the takara MSRP (or less if they made a deal before the exchange rate hike http://tfsource.com/transformers-advent ... mus-prime/).

Right, but at that point, the original point still stands, is anyone going to pay $100 for that crappy prime figure? Maybe they'll order enough to cover pre-orders, but, I mean, I've seen it, held it, and it is just no where near worth $100 + shipping :HEADHURTS:

Oh I know, I just wanted to give some info, hope you didnt mind. I would also be very curious who in Japan would pay that amount. Most japanese retailers dont use the MSRP and sell him for 60$ instead which is the same price point that mold goes for in Canada.

Takara's version has white on its arms, the wings seem to be more translucent, the arm fins have their deco inverted, the sides of the robot mode torso are gray instead of red, colored wheel rims, dark blue hands instead of gray hands, Aerobolt is more extensively painted, gray circles on the shoulders, white truck sides instead of red, and maybe more differences.

Speaking of which, I think that it should be mentioned in the news story that the o/p mold comes with the first tav release of the weaponizer dragonus and tricerashot, and may - ironically - be the among the easiest ways people in the US could get those figures :HEADHURTS:

HLJ has preorders up now. Starscream is around $19 US and Prime is about $71US. Starscream certainly looks nice but I don't think I need to double dip with him, I haven't done that yet and I don't really want to start now.

Is there some retooling on the figure as well, new shoulder cannons or is it just the pic? I never realized you could peg minicons on the sword, nice.

They look gray to me in that pic.

Keep in mind that whole image is blue-tinted given it's from a recording of a recording, so everything in it has a blue hue to it.

Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg has gotten his mits on Takara's Transformers Adventure TAV 56 Nemesis Prime. Below are his thoughts on the figure which he compared to the Clash of the Transformers vesion.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Nemesis Prime is a fantastic repaint of the Clash of the Transformers, Power Surge Optimus Prime, itself a retool of the Warrior Class Optimus Prime figure. The black and silver pops on the figure thanks to the teal highlights. The mold features a great cross play pattern with the weapons. If you can only get one, either US version is great, but if you can get two, Nemesis Prime is worth the price.

Exactly that, a red blade:

I gues they wanted to give a different weapon colour than before since it would be the same weapon again

Like last year, Toysrus Japan will also have the Clash of the Transformers Adventure figures found in the west. All three are currently listed on Japan's Toysrus website and include the white redeco of Power Surge Optimus Prime, Starscream and Scavenger (Paralon). They are 2,299 yen each. As you will notice, this is the second version of Starscream available in Japan and while we do not know if that means Hasbro will also have a different mainline Starscream release, it is important to remember that the same thing happened last year with Takara offering a different Supreme Mode Bumblebee aside from the one available exclusively at Toysrus.

Weird how they changed Paralon's name to the name of his group. I guess it was a part of a mistranslation in the Japanese thinking that Paralon being called "a scavenger" referred to his name instead of what kind of person he is. Hope they don't make the same mistake with the rest of his group should more of them besides Scatterspike get Adventure toys.

On a hunch I decided to Google パラロン pararon and I'm getting some interesting results, like one relating to a Multi-Sport event called パラロン・パンバンサpararon panbansa and 全国パラロン・ケミアスルーフ防水工事業協同組合 zenkoku pararon kemiasurūfu bōsui kōji-gyō kyōdō kumiai, a roofing contractor company. Trademarks shouldn't be that much of a problem since they're not in Toys & Games, but still... Most results referred to our Paralon though, from blogs who got the US version first.

TAV30 Battle Grimlock, TAV31 Black Shadow, TAV32 Rumble & Frenzy, and TAV VS-SP Dogfight vs. Decepticon Runamuck were the last ones, huh? I guess the line no longer needed bolstering, and the Legends Class figures now have a place in Legends.

For what it's worth, it did cut down the list of unused toolings to this:

- Gears
- Huffer
- Chop Shop
- Windcharger
- Warpath
- Wreck-Gar

- Goldfire
- Dreadwing
- Jhiaxus
- Crosscut

- Starscream (Leader)

A lot of those make sense to me; but I'm surprised they didn't go for Gears, Windcharger and Crosscut since those are retools that happened with the original toys too. Then again, they've only just released Skids recently, so maybe we'll see Crosscut from them soon?

Something about organizing Takara products into "waves" makes me twitchy. They release stuff each month, on a somewhat consistent day. That is, generally speaking, not how the "wave" distribution model works.

That TRU Prime is nice, but not $45 US nice. Here's a look at the Takara Windblade, overall a better figure, but I was surprised Hasbro went further with the sword.

That TRU prime is only expensive because BBTs hadto buy it off someone who bought it at TRU in japan. The price is more represetative of their hassel to get it than what the toy is actually worth.

Also what do you mean hasbro went further with the sword, they just left is all in black:

It you are comparing it to the SDCC exclusive, then I dont get the point since they are totally different versions and one is a premium exclusive being compared to a standard retail takara release. The only fair comparison to make is with the actual Hasbro Warrior toy whichw as also a standard retail release.

Probably the fact this is a Generations boxset rather than an RiD one. And also that it's an SDCC exclusive which is most certainly not marketed towards children hence would make no sense to put on the show.
But on the small chance she does, that's when it'd be relevant; not now. And even then the comparison still wouldn't be apt, because if you wanted a representation of those colours, you certainly wouldn't go Takara.

But... they're not going for the same thing. If someone wants a Windblade accurate to the show - or, for that matter, the comics - they're certainly not going to get the SDCC version. It's a bit like saying "Well, I know some of you are on the fence on which version of Starscream to get; Hasbro or Takara... so to compare to Takara's Starscream, here's Hasbro's Thundercracker".

Well... no. Because the Takara version is about as different a colour scheme as you can get from the SDCC Windblade. :-?

All I'm saying is that if you're doing a direct comparison like this, then you should compare two figures who are trying to achieve the same thing. You'd get Adventure Windblade for a representation of her in the show, or for some people, as a representation of her in the comics as it works for that purpose as well. The RiD 2015 version of the mold tries to achieve the same thing, hence why the comparison is apt. This isn't the reason you'd get the SDCC version - you'd get the SDCC version because it came with that Brainstorm you really wanted because you want a radically different version of the mold in different colours that might appeal to you better than her actual colours. Not because it's an accurate representation of Windblade in media.

Uh no, you were right the first time. I got the set for Brainstorm. Let's not kid ourselves, lol

That makes no damn sense Chuck, and you know it. That SDCC windblade can only be officialy purchased in a box set and you only have it because you wanted the Brainstorm, showing how unlikely it is that someone seeks out that version of Windblade when contemplating whether to get it insead of the Takara version.
If you want your videos to be as useful as possible, compare the Takara version to the actual Hasbro version of that deco. That's what people are actually curious about. This is like comparing UW Bruticus to a combiner from FunPub, no one is thinking of either gettign one or the other.

Because "season whateverthey'recallingitnow" just ended (in Canada) with a mere six episodes and she wasn't in any of them, let alone in the SDCC Windblade's Fortress Maximus-based deco (yes, that's who the SDCC figure's colors are based on).

Makes perfect sense to me, besides the big difference between the Takara and Hasbro version of Windblade is the amount of black detailing. Funny thing, Hasbro Windblade is roughly going for the same amount as the SDCC version, no way I'm paying that much

Definitely don't pay that much. When you have the Takara version there's literally no reason; the RiD version of the mold is the worst.
