Oh, Dispensor. :D

The others look nice, but not enough to drag me into importing any of the figures, were I to decide to buy them. :-?

Pay attention Hasbro U.S. This is how you do it. I'd go from protesting all but one of the figures in the Movie line to happily picking up not just 'Bee but Crosshairs, Not-Slag, Protoform Optimus (although I've seen better kitbash repaints but this one still rocks) and Dispensor and Devastator if the U.S. products actually looked this good. I know it's not that they can't do it, I was at Target yesterday and saw the Target exclusive Prime:BH Abominus 5-pack which kicks ass over the regular releases which are now peg-warmers. Even though I have the regular ones I was STILL tempted to spend the money on the Exclusive set. Presentation, Hasbro! Give us stuff that looks decent like in the pics. above and people WILL throw more money your way!

I loved the hasbro evasion prime but this one is amazing. The hasbro one can go somewhere. Im getting takaras. As well as crosshairs, classic bee, the HFTD voyager prime and dispenser.

there's no one out there who wishes hasbro would step their game up more than me and wish they'd want to make money AND please their fans rather than just simply make money.

that example is pretty terrible especially since the targets, at least in my area, can't give those sets away.

Be careful about making assumptions based on your own personal experience. At my local Targets, the Abominus 5-pack has been warming shelves for months. The individually-packaged versions of the figures have been much more scarce.

Takara has already revealed one Dinobot (Slag) in G1-colors, and there will probably be a movie-accurate repaint of OP as well. This is just the main line figures.

These look really good! I especially like the metallic purple on Slug, and the chrome weapons on Bumblebee look pretty nice too. Kinda gives a Microman feel.

even takaras AoE stuff looks like crap, scorn is still the only good looking figure there. The repaints of the older stuff looks good though, especially proto prime & dispensor.

I sound like a broken record but the paint jobs on those Takara bots beat Hasbro's pathetic effort hands down. It's a real shame they'll cost an arm and a leg to import.

I actually think the AoE molds look worse with the Takara decos. Grimlock doesn't even have his beast mode eyes painted.

Protoform Optimus looks good

An Evasion Mode Optimus with a choice of decals (stickers) for shoulders eg. flames or Autobot symbols would be nice for the 30th Anniversary Generations with the shoulders and elbows in grey plastic.

Strangely, I'm kinda warming up to this version of leader class OP. While it's actually less movie-accurate than the mainline version, the fact that it doesn't "shell-form" scores some major points with me.

I still don't know why HasTak refuses to add just two more steps to the transformation and get the fuel tanks to fold the frakk up into OP's back.

Seriously not a fan of the yellow windshields either.

Evasion mode OP...I just wish he were leader class sized.

Picking up deluxe AoE Bumblebee simply because I like doing charity work. :P No, actually, I need a cheap subject to practice airbrushing on, and all that bare plastic on his bot mode is just screaming for a nice coat of Titanium silver.

After seeing Battle-blade BB and Protoform OP getting reissued, I'm hoping for a possible 2007 movieverse Arcee. Deeply regret not getting that one when I had the chance.

I might just pick up Crosshairs.

I know these are just proto images, but I really am sick of "if you want it to look decent, go with Takara." Why the hell can't the products that Hasbro and Takara share be of the same quality? To me, there are several instances where some folks are just nuts and prefer Takara no matter what, but then you have cases such as these, with chrome and accurate paint. It's usually better not to try and overthink this crap and collect and have fun, but when you really can see differences in paint apps, and sometimes in plastic quality, it effects the brand badly. So annoying.

Although that Takara take on Evasion Mode Optimus Prime does look a lot prettier with those added paint apps, why did they screw up some simple details like the hands and feet? They should be BLUE to be G1 accurate, Takara. You know this stuff! ;)

Looks like some kit bashing will be needed to make the perfect "G1" Evasion Mode Optimus Prime figure. I'm thinking the Takara Movie Advanced version as the base, with the hands and feet from Hasbro's mass release version, and the head from the upcoming two-pack version (the one paired with Grimlock). I'm not sure much can be done for the upper arms and shoulders, except paint them one's self.

I'm sorry, what? Abominus is shelf warming in Indiana in the five packs, and to be honest, the moment I finally tracked down all the individual releases, that five-pack got repainted into Doublecross and a bunch of Decepticon Pretender Monsters (shortly joined by additional individual figures, thanks to Meijer selling them for 2.99 a piece)

I think I;m the only one, but ost of the movie igs I don't see an appreciable difference. I want that Dispensor though, and if Jolt and Ratchet were inexpensive I'd be on them too as I still want a good well priced Ratchet figure, and I like the Jolt whips. Oh well.

Umm, this isn't G1 Prime. This is AoE Prime. Different character.

And even if it was G1 Prime, who honestly cares? It's a tiny detail, and if you ask me it's about time Prime got a little reinvention.

Oh, I know that full well. The mold, however, is very clearly meant to homage G1 Optimus Prime. Although a flatnosed truck version of Prime exists in the movie, it's all rusted out and colored with dull browns and grays. So, none of the toy releases of this mold are even close to "screen accurate." Hasbro rolled with the G1 homage pretty well, but made a few mistakes and omitted some paint apps. Takara added in some nice paint apps, but switched some colors around, managing to pull the homage away from G1. In exchange, they seem to be trying to homage original movie-verse prime a bit. I'm just saying, there's no win for someone who wanted a spot on G1 deco on this Prime, though it's obvious that's what Hasbro tried.

Aaand no Dispensor for me.

Why?

That mold is HORRID. The plunger for the gimmick means most poses are impossible to balance for display without a rear support, and unless they fixed it several parts simply fall right off - including the entire upper torso / head.

Meh. If you wanted a spot-on G1 deco, then I'd say get classics/Masterpiece prime, or just paint the hands and feet blue.

I think he looks better with silver hands and feet myself. It sets him apart from other Primes and makes him look like more than just G1 Prime run through a Bayification filter.

Also, I'm pretty sure the whole point of a homage is it's supposed to be somewhat subtle, a nod to the older material, rather than a blatant "HEY LOOK IT'S G1 PRIME WITH MORE GREEBLES". It's the difference between an original idea and a rehash of an older idea.

@Valandar: I have the Payload mold, aside from the long stem sticking from his back (which I'm willing to forgive because GIANT CLAW) he's one of my favourite Movieverse toys. Very poseable, cool vehicle mode, probably the best headsculpt out of the "camera faces"... I certainly don't have many troubles balancing him, and the easily detachable parts can be fixed with a dab of glue. Not sure why you hate Payload so much.

Regardless, if I see him, Dispensor is mine.

Huh, pretty interesting what TakaraTomy did the packaging for these toys:

- For AoE toys, it's simply adapted Hasbro packaging, including the "Changes in so many steps!", Size Class, Series and Figure ID's.
- For older toys (AD08 to AD15), it has the name of the Movie the characters appeared in and a Japanese bio.

Jolt, Revenge Optimus Prime, and Dispensor I'll definitely get. I'll be sticking with the US releases for the rest, I don't care for the "the TakaraTomy one has better deco", leave that until comparisons appear on Japanese blog sites. >:oP

Yeah I know, leader looks slightly better bot mode too but the Rex mode is fugly in its own way. So I'm not holding my breath for the black-knight leader Grimlock, which just looks like a chunk of obsidian plastic. Hopefully they are re-engineering him to look better for future versions... hopefully

It's a damn shame that our chances of Hasbro doing something this cool here in the states is about zilch. I got my first look at some of the AoE figures last night in hand and they have as much appeal as a frozen suppository.
I'd snatch up The Protoform Prime, Dispensor, Starscream and Devastator to go along with the High Octane 'Bee and I might even add the E-mode Prime to that list if their version looks more appealing in hand than the U.S. version does. BUT... Hasbro isn't going to do anything this cool since they already have a metric sh**-ton of their own poorly thought out movie figures to peddle on us. So I guess I'm stuck with paying an ungodly amount for mark-up and shipping if I want these figures or do without and since I'm a cheap bastard, it looks like I'll be going without.
