This image makes it look as though the sword can be much shorter..

It may be me, but I'm spotting two storage compartments instead of just one. Could it be that the sword can be split?

It appears...to do everything right.

The cartoon version, that is.
For those who haven't seen the cartoon, I mean that the cartoon version of Star Saber was made to be a Mr. Perfect type who can do no wrong and is always looked up to as the greatest bot ever.

The more I see Takara bringing in the updates, the more I really want my Star Saber.

Yeah, he killed his best friend & turned him in to a pair of platform shoes & a backpack. I am fond of him.

1. It was under Ginrai's request.
2. Ginrai was paralyzed somehow and could not fight the Destron Army and didn't want to live being trapped in his crippled body.

If it were a real life situation, I'd do the same for my friend (except turning him into an elevator shoe/backpack combo).

God Ginrai: "Even though I can still talk, I can't stand up, and I can't hold a gun. Can I be a commander like this?"
Star Saber: "You'll get better soon!"
God Ginrai: "Supreme Commander. Allow my body to be reconstructed, so that I can become a power-up for you!"
Star Saber: "R-reconstructed!? You three! Did you tell him bout by power-up reconstruction design!?"
Perceptor/Wheeljack/Minerva:
Star Saber: "Why!?"
God Ginrai: "Don't reprimand the doctor. I made him tell me. And this is something that I decided on my own."
Star Saber: "But...!"
God Ginrai: "I will die and be reborn. Even if my appearance changes... Doctor. Show us."
Jean: "No! I don't want the Commander to change into a form like this!"
God Ginrai: "My decision is firm."
Star Saber: "Even if your decision is firm, I won't allow it! You may be reborn into a new lifeform, but the lifeform known as God Ginrai will disappear forever!!"
God Ginrai: "The doctor has already given me a long lecture. Even still, my decision is firm."
Jean: "I still don't like it! Commander Ginrai will be gone..."
God Ginrai: "Jean... I won't die. I'll be reborn."
Jean: "Reborn?"
God Ginrai: "If I am reborn and I combine with the Supreme Commander, we'll be able to stop the Destrons from doing whatever they please!"
Jean: "But the Commander I know will be gone, won't he!?"
God Ginrai: "Jean, please don't worry. I'll always be your friend."
Star Saber: "No. I can't just use your body."
God Ginrai: "There's no time!"
Star Saber: "Time?"
Perceptor: "He will still live if he remains here. But if we are to resurrect him as a new lifeform, we must begin the procedure before any metal corrosion sets in!"
Star Saber: "God Ginrai..."
God Ginrai: "I made this choice myself. Let me fight by your side once again as a Cybertron."
Jean: "Commander Ginrai."
God Ginrai: "Jean... We'll still be together, now and always."
Jean: "We'll really be together always and always, right?"
God Ginrai: "Absolutely."
Perceptor: "Is everything prepared? We're beginning the procedure."
Wheeljack: "Everything's okay!"
Star Saber: "God Ginrai. I'll make sure that your death will not be in vain! And... I'll never forget you."

It's my favorite series. I know many people still haven't watched it yet. Just trying to be courteous.

I haven't put down a deposit, and I'm currently saving for another, more expensive purchase, which strikes closer to home too, so won't be able to put money together in time for March/April. I suppose I might try hunting one down at Auto Assembly, if I still like it as much as I do right now.
Sigh.

What's ugly about this? The fact that you can't afford to get one? Okay, that's uncalled for but if you don't like the design, unless you actually have held the final product, all your talk is a bunch of hot wind.
There are other TF figs I don't like that are featured here, I refrained from posting unless I liked it but was disappointed at the implementation or final product. What you are doing is just flaming/trolling!
Who knows, once we have him in hand, some design flaws may show up....no product is perfect. But you opine about it constructively.
Just wanted to get it out of my chest.

Super Megatron wrote:If MP-10 was designed with such details and craftmanship, I would have picked it up. Looking at MP Star Saber makes me wonder why anybody would pass up on this toy. Aside from portraying the best Autobot leader in G1, this toy defines (or redefines) the idea of the Masterpiece line and brings it to a whole new high standard.
An enthusiastic open minded opinion if I do say so myself. Starsaber may not be the best thing since sliced bread but from initial impressions........its close no? What's missing is a small Jean figure or Illumina mech and this combo would be perfect. (And add Victory Leo later)
Posted by Siger on September 19th, 2014 @ 9:38am CDT
Starsaber is intricately designed with so many details and fun gimmicks. From others' comments it seems to be very show accurate and kibble free as well. There are almost no downsides to this toy from what we can see so far. So if anyone is going to call this ugly, they better back it up with solid arguments or be dismissed as a childish troll.

Frankly, I've watched Victory and I didn't love it. I don't love the Star Saber character. I like the concept but I just am not into the archetype that the character portrays.
However, MP Star Saber looks like it will be the most fun MP toy to date. I normally view MP toys as attempts at the ideal toy representation of a character. More often than not, I don't play around with MP toys. I transform them once in a while and they strictly are display pieces. MP Star Saber may change this routine for me. The features of the toy seem to all be geared towards a "fun factor" that makes me smile. I'm looking forward to this MP release!

Agreed. Also, with his generally simple transformation, he also seems to have been built to handle all that extended playtime, as opposed to say, MP Rodimus, which felt like I was handling some transformable porcelain pottery, all the time.

And another over-entitled whine from the Transformers fandom. Never seems to get old.
Should I get some chemo and Preparation H for your ass cancer?
Seriously, there has been an almost consistent whine over this toy from all sorts of sites and forums that it makes me wonder if the entire fandom has to deal with the tantrum throwing manchildren of said fandom.

One regret and hopefully future improvement for Tomy to fix....MP Hotrodimus. I didn't strive to buy one because of the QC issues mentioned. Imagine his shoulder parts just splitting open at random?

To our eagle eyed analysts here in seibertron, see any leg room for a potential MP Victory Leo backpack attachment?
Could someone compare their vintage Star Saber and check where the connecting pegs should show up if this will be potentially implemented in the MP version?
The designers will most likely build around Star Saber. Add that with we don't know what the V-Star looks in the back as far as I know.

Nice to see that the swords unsheath like they did as the G1 toy.
Still wondering what the back of the V-Star looks like along with what his feet look like from underneath. Would be nice if there was a way to make a working clip for a possible combination with Victory Leo.
