Ah well. It's still a really interesting look into the design process and it's probably one of my favourite retools just from appearances; another reason I wish Takara released their UW guys separately haha. I need him if only for Giga Drill Break combiners

Considering the production times involved, Takara was probably crafting those parts before any Rollers were produced - the prototype might even be built around a Rook test shot.Kurona wrote:I'm kinda surprised they're using Rook to show it off rather than Roller, considering Rook was never released in Japan.
(Very curious about the exact production times involved with some of the Hasbro v. Takara molds, especially in regards to Computron. We know Takara's unique retools/mold were designed after mainline Combiner Wars, but how much later?)

Unfortunately, I just realized that Nosecone's fists weren't redone so he can't hold his gun properly. Ugh.
So good news, bad news.

He can always Fusion Cannon/Null Ray it up, which is always cool.

They did give us the next best thing. Putting a 5 mm post on the back of the guns so you can push it into his fists to give the illusion he is holding them properly.

Pop his combiner hand into one of his armholes. Yeah, it'll be comically oversized, but you can't have everything.

Add that Ground Man is one of only 4 Robot Masters that can actually transform into a vehicle (the others are Turbo Man from MM7, Galaxy Man from MM9 and Nitro Man from MM10), and you got a kitbash idea ready to go

If only Cosmos were Deluxe sized! However, we might be able to cheat a bit with Tengu Man. He kinda has a slightly more jet-like form when he's flying around. Use the Deluxe Groove mold for Nitro Man, the Dragstrip mole for Turbo Man, and the Unite Warriors Nosecone mold for Drill Man, and all we would need is a torso that could approximate one of the man Wily Machines in the series. A Legends sized Cosmos mold as Galaxy Man could be the sixth, optional team member, a la for Scrounge with Hasbro's Combiner Wars Computron set. Capcom! Hasbro! Takara Tomy! Make this happen!

RevTibe wrote:Seeing the new parts on Rook really highlights how clever the retool was; Nosecone winds up feeling much more distinct than he actually is.
Absolutely.
Re-tooling to this extent, as least in terms of final look, is a large reason why this UW set is a must have imo.

I don't think the universe is ready to contain the awesome that would be a Mega Rock Man (forgot this is the UW thread ) and TF mash-up just yet. I for one am ready to give it a go!Wolfman Jake wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Wolfman Jake wrote:RiddlerJ wrote:Twin Twist redeco! Give him two drills!

Back to the subject at hand. I still don't know how I feel about the Takara's Nosecone. Yeah I think it's way better than Hasbro's, the amount of cool-ness they did to make it happen is impressive, but there is still just something about it that just doesn't jive with me. I can't quite put a finger on it. Maybe too much stuff?
I think Takara has Hasbro beat in alt mode and vice versa for bot mode. I think that this late in the game for UW/CW; I just want to have my cake and eat it too.
Posted by RevTibe on May 25th, 2016 @ 11:15pm CDT
Yeah, I feel like that's been a theme with Computron! Both versions have a lot (and different) things to offer, only entirely satisfying option would probably be to buy both (but money!).carytheone wrote:I just want to have my cake and eat it too.
It's not as easy of a choice as, say, buying UW Menasor + CW Drag Strip.

For This yea but not always. Bruticus was just a grainy prototype when preorders went up but that could have just Been online retailers jumping the gun because they knew they were going to sell him.

It says it will be revealed June 9th (6/9) so for sure we will see it before its preorderable. However, it should be noted that the japan exclusive preorder will be the 12th. If its an exclusive, then maybe it will only be for Japanese locals and thus we have to wait for western preorders which may go up at a later date.
I am in the same boat as Sigma Magnus. The fact that this is an EX release makes it much easier for me to feel less tempted in getting it. Thats a great excuse to ignore it It is also fitting since Ratchet was an exclusive in the US as well.

I'm still hoping it will be an insane set like Grand Galvatron with new limbs but either or. I still can't find a Skylinx and I don't really want to buy this unless it's got new limbs but if my luck doesn't change with finding one I might have to go this route.

I think that I will have to get the set for 2 reasons: inability to find Sky Lynx and, IF Ratchet is in this set, it may be my only way of getting a painted Ratchet. In addition, if I'm going to pay at least $100 for Ratchet, I might as well get a painted one plus 4 other bots. Who knows, maybe they could do some other repaints Hoist and Red Alert.

The full silhouette seemed to feature the Hasbro limb-molds (maybe with the First Aid mold subbing in for one of the limbs? Been a while), no jets or tanks, so this one's probably not Liokaiser.Razorclaw0000 wrote:What if this is TT Liokaiser?

I agree. I don't see them doing that without first using the Skylinx mold for his original interpretation, not to mention the only shattered glass theme Takara has ever done was for that ehobby blaster and Soundwave set.
Heads don't matter, we're seeing that first hand with hasbro strafe and Takara strafe. Same size of ball joint but they're both doing a different head for their version of the character and yes they're using a different figure for it but doesn't mean they couldn't have used eithers. We now know there is some kind of communication with both since they both using the same retooling for afterburn.
I guess we'll find out late nest week though!

Your not the only one. Many have reported not seeing Skylynx (you are free to let us know if thats still the case). And he only had a sparse release in Canada which tells me that he has yet to reach saturation in North America. And thats interesting since 6 months ago people simply could not believe that there would be a huge gap between Skylynx being released and the titans return line that there just had to be other toys in between. But no, skylynx is the second wave of 2016 and he's still not easy to find. The gap between his release and onslaughts will be the same as the gap between him reaching saturation and the same thing happening with the TR line, which will be late summer like Hasbro said all along.

I remember 5 months ago when onslaught was rare and now he's shelf warming. I consider myself lucky because here in Iowa I have 2 toysrus, 9 targets, and 12 walmarts within 50 miles and am usually very lucky. I got the '84 limbs a month before mass sighting but yeah no luck with Skylinx. I still haven't found the powerglide redeco, night viper I think his name is and I really wanted to army build him.
