Operation: All Hail Guido

TFNation is delighted to welcome artist extraordinaire Guido Guidi to its inaugural convention!

An exceptionally popular comic artist who has worked with Transformers since the Dreamwave era, Guido has lent his talent to the smash hit All Hail Megatron, the fan-favourite Last Stand of the Wreckers and of course the ongoing books, The Transformers and More Than Meets The Eye.

In addition to his comic work, Guido has also provided artwork for various Transformers DVD covers, box art for toys, trading cards and publications around the world. If you’re a fan of Transformers, you have certainly enjoyed his artwork!

Guido has most recently applied his talents to the video game Transformers Devastation, where he provided not only the game’s box art, but also served as a concept artist for the game’s characters.

Outside of the Transformers franchise, Guido has worked on IDW’s Dungeons and Dragons and publications for Marvel, such as the Super Hero Squad books and short stories for Marvel Rampage Magazine.

For a glimpse of his work, take a look at Guido’s deviantART page.

Guido will be signing autographs and selling artwork from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016 – we look forward to seeing you there!

Further transmissions to follow.

With 2016 nearing by the minute, new UK Transformers convention TFNation has ushered in their ticket pricing for this summer's event! You can find all of the information summed up below, and in the image - check it out, and consider your options in time for the January release on the tickets.

Operation: Ticket Prices Announced

As it's the most wonderful time of the year we at TFNation are please to reveal our family-friendly ticket prices for 2016.

To design this price structure we have listened to feedback from attendees who visited previous UK conventions. We decided that rather than sell family passes - which can often exclude certain groups, such as single parent families – the better choice would be to simply offer low prices across the board, so all shapes and sizes of families can come and enjoy the fun at an affordable price.

Each ticket-holding adult/senior will be able to bring along up to three children aged under 13 years of age, free of charge. Here are some examples of how this will work;

1 adult & up to 3 children:
£55.00 for the weekend
or
£35.00 for just Sunday

1 senior & up to 3 children:
£20.00 for the weekend
or
£13.00 for just Sunday

2 adults & up to 6 children:
£110.00 for the weekend
or
£70.00 for just Sunday

1 adult, 1 senior & up to 6 children:
£75.00 for the weekend
or
£48.00 for just Sunday

If you are new to conventions and just want to test the waters, a Sunday ticket may be a great place to start. But if you want the full convention experience running from Friday evening to Sunday, including our Saturday night showcase event, then the weekend ticket is for you!

Buying a ticket will also mean you become eligible to reserve a Hilton bedroom at a special discounted rate. Tickets and rooms are scheduled to go on sale in January 2016.

Happy holidays everybody!

It's good to see that the 18-59 weekend ticket price is at least a little bit cheaper than Auto Assembly 2015, even if the difference is only £5. I'm still waiting until we know more about TFNation (any more guest announcements, which dealer tables will be there, what panels they'll have etc.) before I commit to buying a ticket.

2016 is actually here, for everyone, and the crew over at TFNation are making sure that Transformers: Beast Wars' 20th anniversary does not go unnoticed (have you seen our new site banner?) - by announcing a new guest for the event taking place this August: Richard Newman, voice of Rhinox, Tankor (Beast Machines) and even Vector Prime in Cybertron! Find out more here and below.

Operation: Beast Wars

We are honoured to announce TFNation 2016 will see the first ever UK Transformers convention appearance of Richard Newman, who will be helping us to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Beast Wars and the 10th Anniversary of Transformers: Cybertron!

To Transformers fans, Richard is best known as Rhinox – the flower-sniffing, “Chainguns of Doom”-toting, Predacon-smacking Maximal from the Beast Wars era; a role he would later revisit in the twisted form of Tankor during the Beast Machines series.

Richard’s Transformers credentials do not end there, as he was also responsible for voicing Transformers: Cybertron’s time and space guardian, Vector Prime.

Outside of Transformers, Richard has amassed a huge resume of impressive acting work both behind the mic and on screen. Some of his many roles include; Grandfather in Pingu; Governor-General Phaeton in Exosquad; Iron Klaw from G.I. Joe Extreme; Tōtōsai from InuYasha; Cranky Doodle Donkey from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; Rattlor, The Faceless One, Lord Dactys and many others from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002); Toadborg from Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars and the unforgettable M. Bison from Street Fighter: The Animated Series (YES! YES!). In 2001 his performance as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice led to a Jessie Award nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Large Theatre”.

Richard will be signing autographs and taking part in panels during our inaugural convention which will run from Friday 19th and Sunday 21st August 2016.

The folks at TFNation are realy on the logistics ball, preparing and gearing up for their first event in Birmingham (UK) this summer with all the info you might need to book your tickets, hotel and whatnot for the duration of the convention. Find out more below, and get your English pound converters ready, as all is released this coming Friday 15th January!

Operation: Ticket Sales

We are pleased to confirm that tickets to TFNation 2016 will go on general sale from 12:00pm (GMT) on Friday 15th January 2016.

The booking process is swift and easy:

PHASE ONE - BOOKING
Tickets will only be sold at www.tfnation.com.

The TFNation crew has invested in a custom-built website which uses the latest booking technology and SSL certification to ensure your booking is simple, safe and secure.

PHASE TWO - PAYMENT
Payments will be accepted via TFNation’s ‘Paypal for Business’ platform.

This means you can choose to pay with your credit or debit card, or your existing Paypal account, giving you flexibility.

PHASE THREE - CONFIRMATION
TFNation refuses to wait around. Confirmation emails will be sent to you the same day you book - usually within 30 minutes. You will also be able to access your booking history and tickets at any time via our website. There you can either print, or download your tickets to your smartphone to bring to the event.

PHASE FOUR – HOTEL ROOMS
Once you have paid for your ticket, the website will automatically give you the option to proceed to the Hilton Metropole’s reservation page. This page has been created just for TFNation ticket holders, giving you a great discount on regular hotel prices. You can reserve now and pay later, so there is no reason to wait.

We will send a further transmission regarding accommodation shortly, but we do wish to stress that hotel rooms are strictly subject to availability. It is important to remember that TFNation is a first year event and therefore our bedroom quota is limited – if the convention proves to be successful, we will hopefully be able to reserve even more bedrooms in future years.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to welcoming you to our new website this coming Friday!

For those of you planning to head to Birmingham (UK) this August, to attend the first year of TNation, the organising team have put together a detailed what's what in terms of accommodation, now that most of the pre-arranged rooms have been booked by attendees. Coming up in the next couple of days will also be a list of alternative hotels, so keep an optic out for more updates!

TFNation_2016
Operation: Hotel Update

Since our new website went live, it has become apparent that the TFNation crew is blessed with a lot of support. We cannot thank you enough for this, as we continue to build on what will be a fantastic event.

One of the results of this strong support has been an unprecedented demand for convention-rate rooms at the Hiton Metropole. The reservations have been fast and unrelenting as people have booked early to secure their spot. Due to this demand, the remaining allocation has become limited in a very short period of time.

Naturally, we have received a lot of questions regarding the remaining rooms, so we wanted to take this opportunity to answer some of these points, provide some information and keep everyone upto date.

1. ARE ALL OF THE DISCOUNTED ROOMS SOLD OUT?
No. Although some room types have sold out on the core convention nights (twins and doubles being the very first room types that everyone booked) there are still other options available. The Sunday night allocation saw the most demand and so the remaining options for that night are the most limited.

2. WILL TFNATION RECEIVE ANY OTHER DISCOUNTED ROOMS?
We have already liaised with the hotel and it is very unlikely that we will be afforded any more rooms at the convention-rate, as they have to cater for multiple events. With this in mind, we encourage you to make alternate plans now.

3. WHAT ROOM TYPES ARE LEFT ON THE CORE DATES?
We still have a healthy allocation of Friday and Saturday single rooms at the discounted price, but they won’t last forever, so we encourage you to book quickly.

We also have some executive upgrade rooms remaining, both twin and doubles. Remember, whilst executive rooms are more expensive, they give you access to the executive bar, with its selection of complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Plus, sharing a room (and therefore, the nightly rate) will help to bring your costs down, somewhat.

4. WORKING WITH THIS NEWS, ATTENDEE REACTIONS AND WHAT NOT TO DO.
Some attendees may not be aware, but many previous events at the Hilton have sold out of their discounted rooms, with lots of attendees sourcing alternate accommodation without too much bother. If you have not been in this position before, then it is natural to become a little stressed by the situation. It is, however, important to remember that nothing has gone wrong - the truth is that a large amount of our TF community have booked straight away and taken up many of the options available.

Sadly, we have received reports that a small number of people have called the Hilton directly and have been less than polite to reception staff. This serves little purpose but to damage TFNation's relationship with the Hilton and may, infact, impact future years'
allocations. We strongly urge our attendees not to do this - reception staff do not have the authority to give you additional rooms, or change booked rates, and do not deserve to be treated badly during their day job.

Thanks for your understanding.

5. WHAT TO DO
Stay calm. We are seven months away from the event - you have lots of time to plan. There are multiple ways you can book alternative accomodation, with the minimum of fuss. Remember, this is where you will sleep after enjoying all the convention's events. While staying outside of the main hotel may add extra time when returning to your room, it will not impact the jokes in the bar, the workshops we will announce shortly, the panels, the guests and your friends who you will no doubt meet, that weekend.

Below, we will list the options you can take now, while we work on alternative avenues. We advise you to take prompt action as holding out for your prefered room to become available again will only reduce your options.

6. BOOK WHAT YOU CAN
If you are looking for a single room for the three nights then we suggest you book the Friday and Saturday at the Hilton, and then you just need to find an option for the Sunday. Even if the last night costs more, you have at least saved on the other two nights and that will lessen the impact of a Sunday booking.

7. FIND A ROOMMATE
We have opened a thread on our facebook page for people looking for roommates. If there is a spare bed in your room, please consider assisting a fellow fan.

8. HILTON WINTER SALE
Although the convention rate rooms are selling quickly, the Hilton – like most hotels – reserves some rooms for public sale.

Presently the Hilton is holding a WINTER SALE event on its website http://www3.hilton.com/.../hilton-birmi ... index.html

These rooms represent a good saving over standard hotel prices, though you may have to pay upfront. Unlike convention rooms, breakfast is typically not included.

If you already have a discounted room booked for certain convention nights then you can ask the Hilton to keep you in that room for your public booking, if it is the same room type. To do this, you can contact them shortly before the event, or ask reception when you check in. The Hilton is not able to change the cost of publicly booked rooms to the convention rate, after ordering.

9. THIRD PARTY ROOMS
Third party websites also sell some of the publicly available rooms at the Hilton. While some bookings will be cheaper than the Hilton's Winter Sale rooms, payment dates and breakfast options may vary - always read the terms. We suggest you try the following:
Hotels.com
Trivago.com
Spareroom.com

9. OTHER HOTELS
This week we will update our website to provide you with a list of alternative accommodation in the area – there are lots of options within walking distance or a short commute. As we are seven months away from the convention, browsers will have numerous options.

We hope this update has been helpful and we thank you for your understanding. We know booking hotel rooms can be a stressful time. Whether or not you get your first choice room, we hope as many of you as possible will join us at the convention.

Further transmissions to follow.

TFNation has announced another guest; designer and illustrator, Emiliano Santalucia. You can read what they have to say about him below and if you would like additional info on the event, you can visit their site here.

We are honoured to announce that renowned concept designer and illustrator, Emiliano Santalucia, shall be joining us for our inaugural convention!

Emiliano is a concept artist on the live action Transformers movie series produced by Paramount Pictures. He has also undertaken substantial work as a concept artist and toy designer for Hasbro Inc. on various Transformers toy lines including Dark Of The Moon, Transformers: Crossovers, Generations, Robots In Disguise, the fan favourite Combiner Wars and the highly anticipated Titans Return. Some of the toys he has worked on include Generations Rhinox, Rattrap, Waspinator and Metroplex; Combiner Wars Sky Lynx; Titans Return Galvatron, Fortress Maximus and Skull Cruncher to name but a few. On top of his film and toy credentials, Emiliano has also worked on Transformers comics for both IDW and Devils Due.

Despite his amazing range of work with the Transformers brand, Emiliano is probably best known for his association with Mattel's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe brand. He also co-founded The Power and Honor Foundation; a non-profit organisation which exists to collect, archive, preserve, and educate the public about the creative origins of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra Princess of Power. Emiliano's MOTU work covers comics, toy / statue design, art books and Definitive Films' Power of Grayskull documentary.

Outside of these two brands, Emiliano has also worked on other comic book series from Star Comics and Play Press, Image Comics, MVC Creations, Devils Due and IDW (including G.I Joe, Power Rangers) as well as working on various DVD covers (The Real Ghostbusters; Defenders of the Earth; Bravestarr; Blackstar and Hero High).

For a glimpse of Emiliano's work take a look at his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/emiliano.santalucia.artist/).

Emiliano will be signing autographs and selling artwork from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016 – we look forward to seeing you there!

With issue #50 of More Than Meets the Eye dropping into readers' optics this week, the crew at TFNation have also sent out another guest update for this summer's inaugural event - writer and heart-throb James Roberts is confirmed as attending! Check out more info below.

Operation: More Than Meets The Eye

Our latest guest announcement has been winding throughout the web since we shared it with fellow fans in Manchester, last week. We are overjoyed to officially announce that James Roberts, scribe-master-in-chief of the IDW comic series MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE, will be attending TFNation 2016.

As the creator of unique characters that have sparked so much devotion from fans, with their vocal response to the issues, created fan fiction, cosplay and other creative endeavours, we knew James would enjoy a great reception here, in August.

James’ background explains much of his open and honest dealings with the fans as he joined the fandom in the G1 years, avidly following the stories and characters of fellow guest Simon Furman, creating fanzines with co-operatives such as Transmasters, leading to the epic novel EUGENESIS.

James made his first official foray into IDW with his involvement with Nick Roche on AHM#15 and the now-classic LAST STAND OF THE WRECKERS. This was followed by text stories in the LSofW collected editions and involvement in the crossover event CHAOS that lead into James’ own title MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE. In the years that have followed, fans have shared the loves, losses and Rod Pods of the Lost Light crew as they attempt quests, ponder life’s mysteries…. And deal with an Autobot called Megatron!

James will be signing autographs, suggesting soundtracks, and selling comics and script packs from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016.

The team grows ever-larger. We look forward to seeing you there!

It is with the greatest of pleasure that we welcome IDW artist Alex Milne to our first TFNation convention (http://tfnation.us11.list-manage2.com/t ... 1e517e5c6f) , in August. If you've seen our posters and flyers at Forbidden Planet this month, you may have noticed Alex on our wanted poster.

From heartbreaking tragedy to uplifting comedy, from space-horror to blossoming love, Alex has brought all this, and more, to readers as the regular artist for IDW's More Than Meets The Eye. If you have a fondness for the galaxy’s most... unique crew, Alex has been a vital element of their enduring appeal.

In addition to his work for the Lost Light, Alex has provided numerous covers for IDW and has previously crafted big-bot battles with Devils Due, Fun Pub and Dreamwave.

Alex's convention commission work merits its own mention as he creates a stunning range of work for fans. We urge you to keep an eye on Master Milne in the build-up to TFNation as any sketchlists are sure to fill up fast!

TFNation is proud to announce its first officially licensed Transformers product display featuring Fascinations Inc.’s Metal Earth® Transformers® 3D model kits. TFNation has teamed up with Professor Puzzle Ltd, the UK distributor for Fascinations Inc.’s Transformers line, to feature a display of the currently available items and also to offer you the opportunity to win the product!

The Metal Earth® models are amazingly detailed etched models that are fun and satisfying to assemble. Each model starts out as a number of 10cm square metal sheets, and you simply pop out the pieces and follow the included directions to assemble your model. All joints are made by folding small tabs - no glue or solder needed.

Professor Puzzle has provided us with a complete set of sealed Wave 1 figures as well as two pre-made up Optimus Prime statues for display at TFNation 2016. Characters represented in Wave 1 kits are:

• Optimus Prime
• Megatron
• Soundwave (with Laserbeak)
• Bumblebee (silver)

Details on how to win one of these fantastic products will be announced nearer the time.

I got a few of these kits at Books a Million about a month ago. While the Optimus model is okay, the Megatron model is nearly impossible to get together correctly as the metal snaps in many places if bent too many times. I had to break down and use glue in many, many places to get Megatron to stay together. They also apparently modeled Megatron after the Masterpiece figure, so if there are things you don't like about the way that figure looks, that's what you've got.

Operation: The Man, the legend, the next guest

As TFN May-hem draws to a close it is only fitting that we end the month with the announcement of another guest. That guest being the Man, the Legend, Geoff Senior. One of the most iconic artists to grace the Transformers comics.

Ever since his artwork first appeared in Transformers UK #42's 'Crisis Of Command' he became a beloved mainstay of the title until the book's conclusion, with his final story being the apocalyptic 'On The Edge Of Extinction', the majority of his body of work being made in collaboration with fellow TFN guest Simon Furman (with whom he co-created long-time fan favourite character Death's Head). With his deceptively simple linework and kinetic storytelling, Geoff has been cited as the inspiration for many artists working on the Transformers professionally today.

When Transformers returned to comics, Geoff found his way back to them as well, through the likes of Generation 2, Titan's Transformers live-action movie books, convention exclusive stories, and most recently IDW's Regeneration One. Outside of Transformers, Geoff has also worked on Action Force/GI Joe, Death's Head, Doctor Who, Dragon's Claws (also co-created with Furman), Zoids, Dark Angel, 2000ad and Judge Dredd: Lawman of the Future.

Don't miss this chance to meet a man who had a hand in many major parts of Transformers history and to get a sketch from the Kirby of Cybertron!

Geoff will be signing autographs and selling artwork from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016 - we look forward to seeing you there!

Still my favourite Transformers artist and one of my childhood inspirations to pick up a pencil and start drawing. His action scenes somehow gave an impression of being more animated than the cartoon ever was. If that makes sense. I know what I mean. :P Loved the proper mean faces he gave Decepticons (like that angry as heck Thunderwing in the picture).

And Death's Head still rules, yes?

Operation: Some people always look better in hats.

With the first TFN fast approaching it is time we announced our newest guest. This time we have the honour of welcoming Jim Sorenson to our first convention.

Jim Sorenson became a member of the Transformers online community in the early 90's. Not long after he began deciphering the Maximal and Predacon languages used in the TV series Beast Wars. Through his time as a collector Jim compiled lots of previously unknown information which he made available online through his blog Disciples of Boltax.

In 2007 however Jim turned his passion for collecting into a profession when, alongside collaborator and friend Bill Foster he published Transformers: The Ark. A collection of over 500 animation character models from Generation 1. A second volume followed a year later this time showcasing character models from the Japanese Generation 1 animated series. Since then Jim has been kept busy releasing books on Transformers Animated, Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe, and recently Transformers Legacy, a book collecting a large portion of Generation 1 box art. Whilst Jim is currently working on a secret project his most recent work, The Art Of The Angry Birds Movie, will be released at all good bookstores on the 16th June and is currently available to pre-order.

In addition to his resource books Jim continues to be a large contributor to the fandom through the incredibly entertaining "Ask Vector Prime" and "Renegade Rhetoric" series in the BotCon magazines. He also wrote several prose stories as part of the Beast Wars: Uprising series.

Don't miss the chance to meet Jim this year at TFNation where he will be hosting a panel where it's very likely the guardian of space and time might be making an appearance.

Jim will also be signing autographs so to get that chance to meet him book your tickets from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation - we look forward to seeing you there.

Operation: Guest announcement

With a flurry of new announcements waiting in the wings, TFNation moves ever closer to August by welcoming IDW artist Hayato Sakamoto to our inaugural event, on his first ever visit to the UK.

Sakamoto-sensei is best known in the West for his contributions to More Than Meets The Eye - particularly for his work in designing the fan-fave character Nickel (who so easily holds the terrifying DJD in the palm of her hand). He has also worked on recent Botcon strips on both covers and interiors.

Sakamoto-sensei’s widest body of work is mostly seen in Japan, where he has leant his talents to pack-in and tie-in comics exclusive to TakaraTomy's releases of TF toys, from Kre-O through to the current Combiner Wars line. These comics (which he often also writes) have given us some of the lighter, more humorous interpretations of the franchise in recent years, such as die-hard G1 fan Rhinox, and Sentinel Prime being depicted as a frustrated head on wheels.

He has also provided box art for a number of TakaraTomy's domestic releases of figures, and is a keen contributor to fan projects.

Sakamoto-sensei is excited to be a part of TFNation because he has heard such great things about the UK convention community (largely from his wonderful friend and fellow TFN guest, Miss Kei Zama) however, we have been asked to explain to our attendees that he is presently still learning English and thus, will need some help from time to time. Though he was a little embarrassed about this at first, we've been happy to put measures in place to ensure translators are standing by to assist guest and attendees alike. We felt this was important as we want to ensure TFNation is inclusive and reaches out to all parts of the community.

Hayato Sakamoto will be signing autographs over the weekend of Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation - we look forward to seeing you there!

After Hayato Sakamoto, another fan favourite from the Transformers comics world - though a fairly older one, in terms of presence on the scene - will also be attending the new UK convention TFNation this August in Birmingham: Nick Roche! As Sins of the Wreckers ends, expect him to be answering a lot of questions on the inevitable (right? right?) third chapter in the story.

Operation: Wreck and Roche (Warning, trousers may shatter)

While we have enjoyed the incredible responses to all our guest announcements to date, it’s fair to say that few will give both the TFNation team, and it’s attendees as much pleasure as announcing writer and artist Nick Roche’s attendance at this August’s event.

Known for his work with The Wreckers, Nick has been a TF fan since the days of the Marvel UK comics. Gaining exposure through the Transmasters community, Nick first worked on IDW’s Spotlight series, followed by Devastation, Maximum Dinobots and a notable issue of All Hail Megatron. All this, plus his numerous covers for other series, lead to the 2010 mini-series LAST STAND OF THE WRECKERS (for which he snuck in his Transmaster collaborator, some guy called James Roberts) which broke hearts, shattered trousers and whose influence has been felt in IDW Transformers, ever since.

Sins of the Wreckers, the highly anticipated sequel that Nick both wrote and drew, has just concluded, providing another dark chapter of the story of the Autobots most tragic/heroic team. We look forward to hearing the authors own feelings on the characters, story and those inevitable deaths, over the course of the convention weekend.

Away from Transformers, Nick has been involved in a wide range of work, from his Monster Motors collaboration with Brian Lynch, Dr Who covers for IDW and New Warriors for Marvel comics. He also hit Marvel UK fans right in the retros by providing the artwork for the Deaths Head section of Marvels Revolutionary war. Fitting, yes? On top of that, it still blows our minds that Nick also created all the artwork for an animated music video, as well as album cover art, for the last album from Brit rockers The Darkness.

We suggest you follow Nick on social media, for details of his plans for this year, as well as his recent blog for those following SINS OF THE WRECKERS.

Operation: The Angry Birds Transformers let fly!

The walls of TFNation Towers are shaking as we play host to our most explosive new guests yet, the Angry Birds Transformers! Exient, the award winning studio that develops and transmits the mobile game for Rovio, is motoring into TFNation 2016, for their first UK Transformers convention.

Since its launch in September 2014, Angry Birds Transformers has gone from strength to strength, averaging half a million daily active users, regular updates, 40 characters and over 150 accessories (our favourite is Kremzeek) and there seems no sign of stopping. It's continued success has brought high praise from Hasbro and Rovio and the Exient team justifiably proud of their creation.

Ryan and the team will be displaying concept and designs from the series, discussing the development of the game, its ever-growing cast of characters and seeking feedback from both current and future gamers on the mobile app. In return, attendees can expect some exclusive goodies, including character unlocks for the game! All game development disciplines will be accounted for:
* Stuart Maine and Greg Law - Design
* James Back - Producer
* Ryan Astley - Art
* Emyr Jenkins and Jordan Thompson - Code
* Athanasios Skarlatos - Analyst
* Deborah Oyeyinka - Social Media

Exient will be in attendance on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August 2016. This is not only a great opportunity for fans of the game to speak to the driving force behind its development, but will appeal to anyone interested in game design, animation and multimedia. The team aren’t just with us as developers, they are also here as fans of the franchise from G1 to the modern comic incarnations, and we hope our attendees give them the warmest of welcomes!

Fellow Seibertronians, we've gotten more news about TFNation, the upcoming Transformers convention taking place in Birmingham, England, on August 19th-21st. Just like any convention, they need volunteers! Check out the write-up down below!

Operation: Volunteer applications open!

With a jam-packed schedule soon to be announced, TFNation requires some of the finest Cybertronian reinforcements... do you have what it takes to be one of our first volunteers?

Volunteering is a brilliant way to get involved and give something back to the community, whilst also having a fun time (and it looks great on your CV too). It is an especially good way to meet new friends if you are a first timer. Likewise, veteran convention volunteers bring invaluable experience to the battle against the evil Deceptic... err... to the ticket queues.

Sending in your volunteer application couldn't be simpler. Just go to tfnation.com and click on the volunteer link on the home page and you will be taken to the form. No need to print it, just complete and then submit!

(If you are already logged into the website this process will be very quick. If you are not logged in, or have not purchased a ticket yet, you will need to do this before you proceed)

We anticipate we will have quite a lot of interest in volunteer positions, so we would urge you to apply as soon as you can. Successful applicants will be notified by email. If you are not successful in year one, we hope you'll apply again in year two!

With just a few weeks to go to make TFNation great, all we need is a little energon... and a lot of YOU!

Operation: Earth Wars! Space Ape Games invades TFNation!

The Decepticons have invaded Earth and only the Autobots can save us now, as the Transformer: Earth wars commence! This past June saw the hugely successful release of the Earth Wars mobile game and we are proud to announce the award-winning Space Ape games, will be in attendance at TFNation 2016!

Based on a story by TFNation guest Simon Furman, published by Backflip Studios and developed by Space Ape Games in partnership with Backflip Studios & Hasbro, Earth Wars puts you in-charge of a veritable army of Cybertronians as you attack and defend precious bases in order to defeat your enemies.

Chris White and the team will be attending on Saturday 20th August, with concept art, posters and development videos running throughout the weekend. The Space Ape crew are eager to meet both existing fans of the game and those new to it, and are busy planning a “beat the base” in-game competition, to those who think they are up to the challenge!

Space Ape have worked with some of the most pivotal people within the Transformers franchise to create this game. They have invested considerable time in shaping the game to please fans of the characters. We urge our attendees to take this chance to meet, and question the Space Ape team, not just as special guests, but as fellow fans of the franchise.

With the game so popular amongst our attendees, there are plans afoot for our own Sunday-based event, at the Space Ape table, to be run by fans, for fans. A great chance to bond with fellow attendees…. Then crush them under your Cybertronian heels!

Anyone think that this seems a little defensive? Almost like:

"...They have invested considerable time in shaping this Pay-To-Win grind-fest to please shareholders. However, we are desperate that our attendees take this chance to not ignore, berate out cross-examine the Space Ape team as to why their app is yet another soon-to-be cancelled freemium turd, as we promised them that they were "special guests", and that one of the artists on the team is secretly a fan of the franchise..."

If you hate, were confused by or just couldn't be bothered by these freemium apps, then the BEST thing to do would be to just give them a wide berth. No abuse, no shouting or booing; just ignore them. Then maybe they'll get the hint. These apps are NOT for fans. They are for casual gamers and little kids, using the brand as a skin to lure them in. That's it. Pure profit.

Yes, it's a no brainer, so why ask fans to do it? I'm sure conventions don't ask fans to "be nice to Peter Cullen", right?

It's like if Michael Bay were to feel suicidal and visit Botcon. The organisers would have to employ security and write " do not be rude to mr bay!" at their website...

I'm sure that's so, but those people are interesting without the fact that they worked on this. People will want to talk to them about their general work with TFs.

With only a couple of days left before the debut of TFNation - the new UK Transformers fan-run convention - and a big announcement that just came through the pipes, we thought to round-up bits of what you may have missed in the past couple of weeks! First off: Sins of the Wreckers TPB before its release date available via Nick Roche (to buy) and the event (as prizes!).

Operation: Sins of the Wreckers

TFNation 2016 may be just four days away but do not fall into the Decepticon trap of believing we are all out of surprises. There’s one nearby… real nearby…

We are thrilled to confirm that in collaboration with TFN guest Nick Roche, we are able to bring you the “Sins of the Wreckers” trade paperback, ahead of its release!

Somebody has kidnapped Prowl… but does anybody want him back? After a five year wait, it’s time to call upon the Wreckers once again in this highly anticipated sequel to “Last Stand of the Wreckers”.

Nick will have a limited number of the books available at his stall. So if you wish to grab the book before it hits stores AND get it signed by the writer and artist himself, this is the perfect opportunity!

If you are not lucky enough to nab a copy from Nick then fear not, TFNation will also have a run of books on hand. We will be giving them away all weekend as part of our free door prizes and various competitions we will be running! Why? Because we are so happy that you have all supported us through our first year, that we wanted to share the Wrecker love with you.

Four days people – get ready to Wreck and Rule at TFNation 2016!

Further transmissions to follow.

Next, make sure to drop by two of the features of the event, the Show Cars and The Forge. While the former needs no real explanation - though you can find more info here - the latter is similar to Artists' Alley, and will also include a good number of Seibertronians, such as hinomars19 and Demonology7789, and the ideator of the Lenten experiment. More here!

Take a look at the floor plan for the event right here, and if you're in Birmingham this weekend (19-21 August) make sure to drop by the AV desk to say hi to yours truly, too!

With TFNation rolling its dates out for 2017, as reported here, we were also finally able to get round to uploading a small album of images from the 2016 event, including some that were seen on the boards, some that were reported during the Toys Alliance reveal, and some that are definitely blurry - Va'al's camera is to blame for that. Or Va'al directly. Check out a preview below, including rare toy displays, fan area The Forge, James Roberts, Alex Milne, Simon Furman, Jim Sorenson, Richard Newman, Paul Eiding, backstage shots, and more, and click on any of the images to check out the full gallery!
