Fellow Seibertronians Bounti76 and Bumblebee21 have pointed us in the direction of a new review, this time in the form of a video review of Titans Return Twinferno, the last of the figures from this wave that needed reviewed! Twinferno is an all new mold based on the Monsterbot Doublecross, and features a Titan master named Daburu, whose robot mode is modeled after the beastformer White Leo. He is the last of the Wave 3 Titans Return figures to be reviewed, so we can expect these figures to start coming in stock soon, so go and pre-order yours!

Why did you reply to me?

I'll hopefully work out the kinks on Blowpipe tomorrow. Working on this is making me even more excited for Triggerhappy.

So Defensor's currently combined and I gave him Leader Thundercracker's large gun as a weapon because I honestly believe that looks so much better than anything else I could give him.

So that leaves me with Hot Spot's two (awesome) rifles. Any sane person would either put them somewhere on Defensor for spare weaponry or storage, or give them to another 'bot for weapons.

You did not get credit for the Twinferno review. Bounti76 emailed the news staff a full half hour before it was posted, and we go by who reports it first. Sorry Bee

This article was updated with your information, but the original credit still went to another member who had initially sent us the information. Because the article had just been front paged, we didn't need to write another one and therefore updated it, so we added your info, but we still had the original information given to us by the original sender, and we can only give 1 news credit per article

That seems to be the intent - Triggerhappy's obviously gonna become Misfire and maybe Slugslinger, and I can't imagine they wouldn't release the Autobot ones too. Especially when they oh so love releasing more bots than cons...

I can't say I care too much about the Autobot Targetmasters, but the Decepticon Targetmasters were amazing imo - like 1987's line of Seekers. Three of them, they turn into jets, they're in the same exclusive group... kinda part of why I want all of them to share the same mold, weird as that sounds. Solidifies that idea for me.
Same goes for the 1988 Targetmasters - love the Decepticon ones, can't say I care much for the Autobot ones. The 1988 Decepticon Targetmasters even sort of feel like mini Combaticons for me with their alt-modes which is an idea that works so much better now with Blast Off finally turning into a jet as he always should have

I really hope the three Decepticon Targetmasters are the same base design as well. All of them fit that design so well. The Autobot Targetmasters I mostly like though because of their designs, but I obviously still want them. Autobots seem to always be more bland in character though, and less unique.

A while back I kind of wished that if they made Crosshairs, they used the mold and (somewhat heavily) retooled it into Armada Blurr.

Image

Image

Not the most clear-cut resemblance, I know; but the shoulders being angled and making up the car front suggests a similar silhouette to me, and I honestly think Armada Blurr in both modes is kind of what Pointblank would look like were he to get a modern-day earth mode CHUG update like Generations (2011) Scourge and Kup.
Of course, since they're going for straight G1 remakes now instead of revamps and updates...

It's awesome that they're also releasing movie characters in the same line also as Targetmasters and Headmasters since they all were in the same fiction at different points.

Also, since Blurr technically is a targetmaster, I could try making a partner for him also. Maybe even a Nightstick for CW Cyclonus. :-?

Also remember Kup, Hot Rod and Scourge were Targetmasters as well.
And that thing about the Targetmasters connecting to the wrists in Headmasters? Hot Rod, Kup, Scourge, Cyclonus and Blurr weren't targetmasters in Japan so they never had that, so if you were worrying about doing that it's not as important for them. And yes, even though most other Targetmasters got the wrist thing and he didn't, Cyclonus' Universe toy still did the wrist thing...

Funnily enough, Pointblank's really the only one I care for and that's mostly thanks to the leadership role he had in The Headmasters cartoon. But because it was that version, I find myself more often than not prone to referring to him by his Japanese name Blanker. :P

Am I the only one that thinks a lot of the Titan-masters names and their partner's names should've been switched? Sometimes the partners have gun-related names, and the Titan-masters have others. Specifically Pointblank with Peacemaker, Crosshairs with Pinpointer, and Sureshot with Spoilsport.

The main bot having gun-related names could be taken as reinforcement of their marksmanship ;) At least you were able to memorize them, I can't. Worse, I can never remember which gun goes to who

Strange I have little trouble remembering most Micromaster names or Headmasters - but I do sometimes have a mental block on Targetmasters but less so the double Targetmasters -oddly.

The other on I often forget is the Buggy Powermaster.

Anyway here is another one of John's Videos :

Thanks RaR, but that video was already posted and newsed earlier. And we already have sharkticon reviews from a while back. Lets try not to clutter the discussion with video reviews, they have their own section on the site. Unless the idea is that you are using them to describe something and use them as an example.

Don't let that discourage you, there was no possible way of you knowing the intricacies of the site and how it works. And none of us were journalists before, we just have fun. If ever you want to join in on the fun of the news crew (looks like you got the chops), let Dr Va'al know. We are always looking for new recruits :)

PS: Its a really easy way to get a ton of news credits too, if that matters in any way.

The part that makes the like cockpit for the headmaster, one of the hinges just snapped. Its nothing too catastrophic, like it still works, but still just wasn't expecting it.

Sky Shadow has one Titan Master. There were two on display at NYCC, but the final official stock photos show just one, so the two on display were presumably just two of the same one.

Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 has sent along his review of the Wave 3 Transformers Titans Return Titan Master Sawback, the first fully Western incarnation of the Japanese Headmaster Lione - check out this new mold in the embedded video below, and discuss in the Energon Pub!

Sawback is an homage to a Japanese only Headmaster figure, that transformed from a Lion to a head. This is really cool and the end result is a fantastic look Titan Master. Shield mode is a little odd, but Lion and hover mode is great.

I agree, but the names will pose a problem. "Overlord" has been used for Europe and Japan, but the US uses "Powermaster Gigatron" (HoC PVC Figurine) or just "Gigatron" (BotCon 2012) instead, suggesting "Overlord" can't be acquired as a trademark.

Is it me, or does the lion mode look really similar to Stripes? And by that I mean the two fins in the back sticking upward, not the fact that they're both giant cats.

Easy but stupid sounding fix: One Titanmaster is named "Over", and the other is named "Lord". Though it doesn't matter to me what they call him. I'll call him Overlord like how I call Fellbat, Dezaras, and Ironbison by their respective names. It's my figures, I can call them what I want. Except for Twinferno. When I get him (hopefully), he's keeping his name because it is awesome. Sorry, typo there. I meant to say: :michaelbay: TWINFERNO :michaelbay:

Too short and generic  Though if Hasbro did manage to get "Overlord" trademark, we can get "Gigatron" and "Megabolt" for the Titan Masters.

You know, I think that's the reason why the female Mega was the template and not the male Giga. "Megabolt & Powermaster Gigatron", how would that sound?

There's a simpler way to get around any "Overlord" Trademark issues than by using the name "Gigatron". Just give him the very similar-sounding name of "Overload". Of all the characters who have used that name in the past, none of them have been prominent enough to have that name attached to any one of them on an iconic level, and in this day and age, only the recent RID 2015 Overload comes close enough to being a significant bearer of the name... which works in Overlord's favor since RID 2015 Overload happens to be a blue Decepticon tank, which is exactly what one of Overlord's two altmodes is.

Though, keep in mind that this is merely a suggestion for a substitute Trademark label for his toy. The fiction can go on calling him "Overlord", much like how Black Shadow keeps his name in the fiction while his Hasbro toys use the substitute Trademark label of "Sky Shadow".
