Newsday.com is reporting that comic's artist Frank Springer passed away April 5th at the age of 79. Springer is known to Transformers fans as the artist behind the first four issues of the Marvel Comics series and the Headmasters mini-series.

I remember it as if was just yesterday when I purchased issue #1. It was U.S. 75 cents(quite expensive back then and bi-monthly. Who would have thought it was but a start of something BIG!
