But I kinda love it. Not the sexist part, obviously, but I love how you have them using ridiculous attacks on all the Decepticons. Lunaclub being an overtly-aggressive fangirl on Starscream, Trickdiamond bullying and coercing Thrust into summoning Unicron for her own goals, Flowspade having a blast using Roller and Breakdown into boxing gloves, and Moonheart giving them- well, let's say Erector would be proud.
Honestly I just love the craziness of these girls.

I find it a bit degrading that we have a comic with fun female villains taking the lead and being awesome, and the first thing men say is "sexist". Its like putting down something that could instead be hailed as more fiction involving females within a very (coinsciously made) male centric hobby. To me, thats where the real sexism is, in the people seeing an isue that might not be there, its speak to their bias. I support any fiction involving new female characters, especially some who kick ass as much as these and show the men how its really done!

I'd rather not give an opinion since I'm a little tired of this particular combiner mold making people triggerhappy for either their "SEXIST" or "YOU'RE A FEMINIST SJW" buzzwords that do more harm than good, don't contribute towards any actual conversation beyond inflating your own ego and agenda and really have no place on a Transformers forum. I'd rather the comic and toys themselves be discussed, as is the point of the thread.

That is even better, yes. I did get sick of it all too.
I found the comic pretty fun and I wish more of them were translated. What I liked most was how it dealt with Megatron becoming Galvatron. In the show, its never adresed much as if Galvatron is a whole new character and everyone moves on with that in mind (even if we know he used to be Megatron). But here, there is a nice legacy which even takes another leap with Galvatron now being a head in Cyclonus, but with his entire history still there. So the only way for her to have a chat with him is for Cyclonus to have his chest open and reveal the head. Its a nice new wrinkle to the legacy of these characters

Heck that goes for all other TF comics too, but most will probably be hard to find. I have an omnibus, but it's a volume 2 of some older series. Never found Vol. 1.

I sent you a PM about how to get the comics so we can discuss it there, but I wanted to respond here about the combiner wars portion of the question.
The comic series, just like the youtube show, is derivitive of the toys. Meaning that the toys arent based on the comic. The comic itself was written after the toys were done (just like the combiner wars show) and dont really tell a complete story worthy of that name (just like the show). The real stoy behind the toys is all the g1 stories out there in both comics, shows and any other relevant media. The toys were simply updates to g1 toys/characters and the comic was mandated to thematically go with the line. But I would not call it the official story for these toys.

That said, the comic actually does more to sell me on these characters than anything else. I mean, when I contrast this team to Victorion's in the comics, this team shines more because of the colourful personalities. Despite being in a better comic Victorion is just ... there. I actually find her pompous as a character/group. But this team sparkles with personality.
This comic almost makes me want the set as a counterpoint to my team of female Autobots (there so few female Decepticons as legit characters and not just repaints).
Almost. I mean, this is just the one comic. And I already have all these moulds.

If you want to get to know Victorion better, you should watch that recent Combiner Wars online show. They really add a lot to the character and dont just have her be randomly there doing nothing
not

Anyway I wonder if our friend Sjeng was actually asking about the Unite Warriors/Legends comics?

Oh, woops, your right. I didnt realize we were in the takara thread.
In case thats what he wanted to know, Sjeng, the Japanese comics have not been translated for the most part. Also, there are only comics for the Legends figures and the exclusive UW sets like Grand Galvatron and Megatronia. So there is no japanese comic for Superion, Menasor and company since they arent part of the legends line.

That ladder assembly is honestly the greatest thing about the Hot Spot version of the mold. There's so many things you can do with it.

This this this this this!
You all but said what I previously posted without the P and C part.
Also, haven't you noticed that it was "guy" who did the complaining? Reminds me of a recent videogame blog, written by a guy who is no doubt pandering calling Bandai/Namco's portrayal of Samus Aran wearing a high heeled mech jet boots as sexist in Super Smash Bros.
"Heels" people. Portraying a character with high heeled jet boots SEXIST!
Maybe if the Destron Women were portrayed as blood/energon thirsty Amazons decapitating the head modules instead of the connector links (which was part of the plot to explain their ability to "merge") but then again, lopping off the heads will still have a "double entendre" or do a "Luke Skywalker" etc.

Really?! You guys still think of them like "that" Fine then, I'll repeat what I said earlier:
1) Don't think about where those pegs have been.
2) The females have them too, including Victorion.
Have fun with your cold showers
Regarding the "sexism", I don't really see any of it. It's just the characters acting out on gender-assigned character tropes, nothing more, and both men and women can switch between them (it's more common for men to adapt female traits however). It's only truly sexism if women or men are not allowed to adopt the traits of the opposite, or are treated differently when they do (like women execs being paid less than male counterparts). That's all I'll say.

Finally. At least you see where I'm going to. Gender based pay scale BAD! It has to be the abilities and what they bring to the company.
As in overthinking every nook and cranny of the manga
And 'bots female otherwise don't get my "pegs up". Sometimes the sensitivities are too sensitive. Really.

I'm gay, so Megatronia making use of the Sky Reign/Lynx Master combination pegs doesn't really phase me. You go, girls!
Also, that's why I don't care to touch the can of worms that is judging sexism, because not everyone operates under the same definition.
What I can see in that comic is that it's playing hard into the "we're women, we're concurring you male Transformers!" angle. It's not even subtle, the dialogue says it pretty explicitly, though it is admittedly a fan translation. The female characters defeat the males, symbolically castrate them, and then take their power as their own. Is that okay? I don't know. It is what it is. If all the gender roles were reversed, I think a lot fewer people would be comfortable with the story, though. The standards aren't consistent, they change depending on the identities of the players. We should explore why that is, what it means, and if that needs to change. Of course, that's not a discussion for here.
More on topic, I just got my Victorion sets from Amazon.com at $42 USD a piece, and I can't wait to have Megatronia as her counterpart in my display.

I did notice that if TakaraTomy is left its own devices when it comes to making Combiners, the common theme is much more pronounced, especially when it comes to naming them. They'd fit right in with the Victory and Brave series in all honesty.
That said, I suspect they thought "Convoy got a combined mode, but not Megatron"? But since Megatron is already spoken for, the designers simply uses his colors and switched gender, because why not? The phrase "Behind any powerful man, is an even more powerful woman" definitely rings true, as the Woman Destron can give even Galvatron a run for his money in the crazy department.
The card theme hasn't been done before in Transformers, but other series (like JAKQ Dengekitai and Kamen Rider Blade) have, so it was an easy pick, really. That said, the term "4 Guard" is a multi-layered play on words. Yes, "guard" sounds like "card", but if their Rank stats are the same, it's also a play on "4 Card", a Japanese alternate term for "4 of a Kind" in Poker, the second best hand after Straight Flush (for convenience, Royal Flush is included with that style of hand).

And it's so similar to RID Op/Fire Convoy's Blizzard-Storm attack that if the shadowy Unicron-backed team does turn out to be the Baldigus/Ruination guys, maybe their counterpart will be a new Car Robots gestalt, consisting of FC, the 3 car brothers, and...erm...maybe Rook repainted into a random bullet train? No wait, Indy Heat/Skidz, that's the ticket.Kurona wrote:

And that might open the door for Devastator being repainted into the Buildmasters, with Scrapper and Mixmaster repainted into Scoop and Quickmix; and since Build-King's RID name was Landfill, that'd even account for the missing double-targetmaster!
I haven't read this whole thread, so my apologies if I'm rehashing someone else's idea. It's just that when someone suggested Ruination, it dawned on me that he's the only possible combiner team I have no interest in, but that would open the door to some other wackier possibilities!

Mine has been sitting in my POL for about a week. I've received too many shipments in the last month, so I need to space things out so my wife doesn't think I'm crazy. I'm also hoping for a good deal of the day so I can tack on a few additional items since shipping will be lower.

Yeah, I cancelled mine and decided to wait out the Hasbro version, not enough money to really do it plus the reviews made me feel much better about the Hasbro one.

They've been sold out for weeks. I only preordered mine days before it sold out, so I was one of the last people that got in. And mine arrived (POL) late last week. Wouldn't be surprised if BBTS fulfilled all their orders by now.

Yes, I did.
From past dealing with BBTS, I think they get two shipments. One small shipment comes in via air and a second shipment on container ship. Many, many (many, many, many...you get it. ) orders have shown this pattern for me to believe this is what is going on. At a company I used to work for we did something similar. It is costly to ship stuff air. But, if the order is small enough, often they can be squeezed on a cargo plane for a bit less cost.
I don't know for sure that this is what is going on, but it is my educated guess....

Not sure I would want a Landfill version of Devastator, but I could definately get behind some RID, that was my jumping on point.
(Using the English names because that's what I know)
So, you flip it, and paint Dead End as Side Burn?
Brakedown as Prowl? (Instead fot he already used Police Car Mold)
First Aid as X-Brawn?
And then either the Offroad mold as Wrecker Hook, or the Mirage Mold as Skid-Z. I would prefer thelatter, I think, only because I like the Indy Car mold better, but we saw more of Tow Line. Or Rook as a CW Ultra Magnus, and Omega Prime as the Combined form.

No wait, Indy Heat/Skidz, that's the ticket.Kurona wrote:
I've been doing that since I got Hot Spot and I absolutely adore it. It's like some big final attack thing.
That ladder assembly is honestly the greatest thing about the Hot Spot version of the mold. There's so many things you can do with it.

I completely forgot TB got that upgrade, I do like that better.
