HK-TF staff member - Kaiser has got his hand on the upcoming Takara Tomy Masterpiece 1B Convoy/Optimus Prime Black Version.
As we know, this Masterpiece is comes with a special comic, but that's not all. According to Kaiser, MP1B is comes with another free-gift, apparently is a metal badge of Masterpiece.
Another HK-TF member redfish also revealed the flip up communicator screens for MP1B will be Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime and Optimus Prime.
Same as Masterpiece 1 Optimus Prime, the box of MP1B can also fold up to form the trailer for Convoy Black Version.

I can't help but notice in the last picture that the chest panels are not aligned... a repeat of a "common problem"? Could anyone tell us?

I know a lot of people complained abt this. Recently i managed to dig out my old first issue MP Optimus, and i look into his chest panel.... In fact it doesnt really align even that first production...
Anyway i dont really bother abt that....

also can anyone tell me if the autobot symbol on his shoulder is molded ?
if not i can just buy decepticon symbols from reprolabels and replace the autobot symbols
also is it me or do optimus and hotrod look super deformed on those communicators

whats that round metal disk in the plastic bag for i have a prime i dont see where small disk would fit in anywhere to be any of use for master piece prime.

Yeah, faction logo is molded.... Business point of view it is not cost effective to remold the thing in order to call him Nemesis Prime...
Thats why it is just straight repaint and called him a clone of convoy.... In fact many of them according to the comic...

I'm really on the fence with this guy. He looks kinda cool, but do I really need another MP Prime mold? I already have the 25th Anniversary Prime(my first version of the mold), the DVD Edition(got as a gift), the MP-04(just had to have the trailer), and of course the Ultra Magnus version. I have him on preorder, but I'm really considering canceling.

What I wanna know is, if he's also talking to Rodimus Prime, does that mean that Rodimus is still alive? And how did he get the Matrix back? Last we saw him he was his Hot Rod self again as a Micromaster. How/why did he lose the Matrix and how did he get it back? And why does he have it if Optimus is back? So many questions brought up by one image.

In the story, he had Wheeljack and Ga'mede create 21 duplicates of his Black Bodied self to help him fight against Galvatron II. This figure must then represent one of those 21 "Eldedroids". Man, that is certified badass. And that badge is extra cool. But there's just no room in my collection for another MP Prime. I usually save Nemesis Prime (I know this isn't, but to me it is) for the OP molds I don't care to get the normal version of. So I don't think I'll make an exception here. But dang, does that look fine.

Definitely a cool black OP/Convoy. I cancelled my pre-order months ago because I had received the 20th Anniversary Edition Optimus Prime first and was very happy with it so I decided to not get the black repaint.
The Japanese continuity isn't meant to make sense, hehe. Let the shopping commence!

Yeah, he is not Nemesis Prime, although it would have made more sense to me if they had changed him into that. Just modify the symbol on his arm to represent the Decepticon insignia. But I guess they had other plans. The box clearly state that he is Cybertron Commander... so if he is a clone/droid, but with the same rank and function as the original Prime?

Hey I apozigize if Im getting a little off topic but I see this forum is getting alot of views so I wanted to ask a question:
Does anybody have any solutions to make decals stick that wont hold ??? Of course without permantaly damaging the plastic. I just bought the Toys-R-Us Insecticons and some decals keep peeling off. I tried rubber cement but this does not work. Anybody have a fix for this common problem ??? Please let me know...Thanks

I would love to own one of these molds, since I missed out the first time they came out, and Black Convoy seems the better deal for me right now out of all the available versions. Ultra Magnus is ugly. MP-04 is an extra $60 for a trailer I don't care for. Black Convoy just oozes awesome. It may be expensive now, but wait a few years for the inevitable price inflation and $150 would seem pretty cheap.

My version did NOT come with the comic, so I don't know if it's bootleg or whatever, but I've heard of a version without a comic from this board or something.
It's also smaller than I remember. Then again, maybe I've gotten bigger since I last saw a Masterpiece Prime mold.

Ah, well. I suppose someone will just scan the comic and put it on the internet anyway.
I thought MP01B was supposed to be an e-hobby exclusive? But there's a Hong Kong version too? With my luck, there will eventually be a U.S. version for $60 USD one day.

Yours shd be Hong Kong Version. It shd come with metal plate. Comic version is only for Japan version, release in January 2010.
Size wise is the same as old MP1 or MP4.

I thought MP01B was supposed to be an e-hobby exclusive? But there's a Hong Kong version too? With my luck, there will eventually be a U.S. version for $60 USD one day.

MP Prime comes with a little bag that contain 2 small plastic pieces, if you look at the pictures or if you have Prime you'll know what i'm talking about.

I can't really justify the funds to get another version of this mold. Maybe in more prosperous times, but for now it's just a bit superfluous.

Looks nice but still in this depressed economy I am surprised so many want to get him. As others have commented maybe in better times but right now it will be added to the want list, not need.
