When X stops posting the same crappy arguments I will have no reason to continue bulldozing them. As long as he keeps on sh!tting up the forum with his meaningless drivel, well... >:oP

The only thing you are bulldozing is your reputation. You don't even buy any of these figures. You come on this site for the sole purpose of trolling me into arguments. I didn't even see a difference between the alt modes so I just thought they had copied and pasted the same picture on the press release. Even here they look like the same pictures :lol: still love to get this set

I wonder what Takara will do with Victorion? I imagine the colours will be altered a little but I wonder if there will be any retooling?

I've been curious about this too, given the cross-media promotion for the character. Japan has yet to see, through non-English channels, the character in the comics or any other fiction, so there may be very little scope for it to appear on the market at all.

That said, the Legends line has included some IDW stuff regardless of their visibility. So who knows. :-?

I dunno, I can imagine the Japanese fans being more than a little upset if they didn't get them- heck, IIRC they were actually quite disappointed when it looked like they weren't getting the Rook or Offroad molds in spite of them not being G1 characters, hence the creation of Grand Galvatron.

In terms of things I can see getting upgraded, I imagine the deco will be done differently (of course), either more accurate to their comic appearances or just adding more colour break-up, and any structural flaws with the molds will probably be fixed, assuming that the Hasbro version hasn't used Takara's upgrades to the existing molds (specifically the Hot Spot mold's hips). In terms of other retooling, they might (MIGHT) give Rust Dust a new head, and possibly make some modifications to the weapons to make them marginally less useless (seriously, what the hell is up with Jumpstream's "weapon"?). If we're really lucky they might do something different with those ludicrous high-heels and feeble hands.

Alternatively they might do something completely off the wall and redo them all as Elita-1's squad from that one episode. Pyra Magna would make a good Firestar if I'm honest, though it would be more fitting if Elita-1 was the torso.

We might just see a repeat of the Windblade cycle - Hasbro version that leads to the IDW comic version (which is partially based on earlier decos) then a Takara version that tries to match the look of the comic more closely.

Delta Magnus wrote:(seriously, what the hell is up with Jumpstream's "weapon"?)
Honestly, I'm just impressed that they managed to design a giant combiner weapon that when split into five components only has one dodgy piece. The helicopter twins' swords, the shield and Pyra Magna's warpick all look pretting bangin'.

Yeah, Pyra's war pick is pretty sweet and those swords are great. But Jumpstream's "shield", whilst fancy looking, is pretty much useless as a shield due to the way she holds it (and also leaves her without and actual weapon). And Dustup's "bow" is kinda pitiful.

The combined weapon is awesome though, no arguments there.

This is a cheap combiner. It's basically 3 molds, duplicated x2 for the deluxes. I want to like it but it needs further remolding.

Maybe Japan could take a shot at a slight modification very similar to what they did with Masterpiece Road Rage/Tracks

First up, the two car limbs are from the Breakdown and Dead End molds - no shared parts.

Secondly, Takara's Combiners have been more same-y than Hasbro's - changing from three jets and a 'copter and three cars and a pickup to four jets and four cars, respectively.

The differences between the helicopter twins is so minor and random you have to wonder what was the point? Like did they really need to give them both new torsos when they don't look all that different from each other?

I think, colorwise, they should either have the same pattern (and something more sensible than the weird hodge-podge we got) -or- they should be inverses of each other a la Twin Twist and Topspin.

Thanks for clearing that up, but they look a like. Still the two helicopters look so much alike only minor paint markings separate the two.

As for Takara, there using the leftovers from Hasbro.

Off-road = War Breakdown
Rook = Wandering Roller

Ok, I fail to see your point comparing the two, as I simply stated the fact that Victorion combiner probably is the worst of all the Combiners for mold use. Both companies are guilty of repainting and using the same molds, but Hasbro for the Combiner Wars line has out repainted and reused the molds than Takara has so far. and then there's the G2 reuse....but hey who's counting right? :-?

Well, they are twins, not necessarily a new concept, but they couldn't make 'twin' combiners, except by making them the same mold, or utilizing some extreme remolding to two combiner limbs that look the same - not really possible (maybe dead-end and streetwise);

I like the idea, and it adds a certain symmetry to the combiner (assuming you pair them together, which many of us are likely to)

Apart from that, I feel this is an overdue return to the concept, the last 'familial' tf's I remember are o/p and magnus from rid'01

Nah screw symmetry...then everything will be simplified and suffer from more remold and repaint abuse. We already have suffered enough.

Speaking of Car robots/RID Those combiners were different, and then there's the Energon Combiners. I don't want to go back to that. Lets stay with what we got or we'll regret it...

How so? Two unique limbs and two identical limbs with different heads. Again, that is more variety than Takara's release of Superion and equivalent to their release of Menasor. It feels strange to call Victorion the worst based on criteria in which it is clearly not the worst. Maybe the similar decos is what's bugging you?

You and everyone else, apparently. Here they are at SDCC last year, switched.
Image
The tell is the splotch of red on one kneecap. Their decos are mirrored from each other: Stormclash (with the visor) has the red on her left knee, left ankle, the side of her right leg, and the right side of her tail when it's on her back, and her Autobrand is on the left side of her chest. Skyburst (with the visible eyes) has all those red parts on the opposite sides, and her Autobrand is on her right. You can tell that their alt modes are switched because the red parts end up on the wrong side in alt mode. Stormclash's red knee and ankle magically switch to being on the right of her alt mode if Hasbro is to be believed, and she gains a big patch of red that was green in the same place in her bot mode. Meanwhile Skyburst is actually red in those areas in bot mode, but her alt mode has them where Stormclash's are. But whoever made the display at SDCC, and whoever put together the stock photos, clearly was blinded by the fact that they're both red and green helicopters and didn't notice the asymmetry of their decos.

To put it another way:

That could look awesome! I could see Arachnid coming in as one of the choppers, perhaps Thunderblast as the other chopper, a car, or bring in the Blast Off mold to replace the redundant chopper. The ideas...
