JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:ThunderThruster wrote:Are you locking in the double/triple knee joint properly?
To elaborate, the knees on Hot Spot/Onslaught are multi-jointed. To get it to properly lock, you need to move the lowest hinge to a 90 degree angle, then swing the second hinge up. If done correctly the panel the knee joint is on should slide into a pair of groves, locking it into the leg.

I don't understand
Sowndwave76 wrote:Hey, quick question for anyone interested.
I'm most likely going to sell my Fansproject City Commander and Hasbro Voyager Ultra Magnus.
So how good is the CW Ultra Magnus?
I'd be willing to get him now that he's on sale, however, I'm not completely sold.
I will watch a few reviews but figured insight from people here would be just as valuable.
Not too worried either way. I still have a U.M. & Skywarp 2 pack and another City Commander set both MISP.
Thanks!

It's a fun design and an overall great figure, but the plastic is pure crap, it's stupid thin, and kind of squishy; bought two, and both of their legs' internal mechanism's shattered from the strain of transforming, it's that bad - and several other people have had a similar problem. I can only recommend getting one that doesn't break

REALLY...
Hmmm. I like the look of the design, but that's a real shame if the plastic is that bad.
Haven't had a chance to watch reviews yet. Been watching a couple Euro Cup games I had to record.
Thanks,'Scream.

I've heard that... maybe it's the plastic formula they used for the cw vs the legends one

Same plastic. Same factory.

But different colors, aren't the cw's colors a little watered down? I always felt so

The blue is lighter yes but I wouldn't say it's watered down, I'm not sure plastic colors work that way. It's a totally different shade. And honestly with the accounts of Takaras feeling "better" I think it's just people seeing what they want to see.

Sometimes things can happen with injection molding where the same batch has different issues. Sometimes there can be overpacked molds or short shots. There are even issues with temperature that can greatly affect the final part stability. And different colors can have vastly different consistencies resulting in more brittle makeup or softer, more pliable parts. (GPS being an extreme example of brittleness.)
Ultimately there are so many variables that can affect plastic quality and final attributes (like being brittle) that it is hard to assure anything being the same, sometimes even within a particular run. It was why we had certain function tests to assure issue like brittle pieces, and took random sampling from all over the run. It was also why our vendor used to discard a certain number of first run parts, until things like temperature were stabilized. Ambient temperature was another variable that affected things. I could go on and on....
(<== Ag used to be a quality technician in charge of inspecting injection molded parts.)

william-james88 wrote:Ok so Leader Magnus is a good toy. I like him and I had no problems with mine. If you want a competent version of magnus who has a robot mode that fully integrates the armour then this is your best bet for the price. However, its too bad the question is asked now since just last week there was an incredible sale on the Takara version which has much better colours than Hasbro's.

I do like the look of TT's better (haha, not a huge surprise coming from me), but even at $50 I wouldn't get him. $40, maybe... But again, I'm not that interested.
If I see him in a store (which is unlikely) and he's on sale for $35-ish so shipping isn't involved, I'd most likely pick him up. Then if I changed my mind like I did with Scattershot, I'd just take him back.
Just checked TF because he would ship for free with my current stack, but they still want $47.
