Rapid fire question: You only have the money for either CW G2 Superion or G2 Menasor, which one do you get?

Menasor. For one those colours are just gorgeously ludicrous and I love them, and for another, Menasor's combined mode is weaker, so I would feel far less regret about the fact I'd never combine him for their own sake. Also I actually prefer the look of the Stunticons over the more homogeneously designed Aerialbots. What I'd probably do is buy a bunch of Shapeways weapons and upgrades for them and make them into an EXTREEEEEEEEME demolition derby crew.

As do I, hence why I even preffer including offroad in there tomake it even more diversified. While Superion is the best combiner, it comes at the cost of being made up of very similar components. So he looks better and plays better than the other combiners. But putting him together feels more like a chore than the rest since your basically handling the same toy 4 times.

Thats why I find Bruticus a lot of fun

What would be amazing would be to reuse the superion torso, but for another combiner that has very diversified and unique parts, and remolded of course with a new head to differentiate it from superion. And hopefully have the rook mold in there too as a leg. Man would that be awesome

Althugh I really like hat argument of getting G2 Menasor because he was never made in G2 and thus is the first ever release of G2 menasor.

Glad I could contribute in some small way, but I'm pretty sure you knew what you wanted in your heart, but it never hurts to seek the advice of friends .

Anyway...according to TF wiki a "Handful of Production samples" were made of the G2 Stuntacons and Protectabots. When I see them occasionally for sale on eBay they usually sell for in the neighborhood of $1000+ . Anyone have any idea how many "a handful" is...? Just curious.

You sure that was me? I have been saying good things since I got him early May.

Here is my rundown of contemplating Takra vs Hasbro where I give Hasbro props

You know whats interesting? While I can never say that Takara didnt do well here, they did a lot right, I think Hasbro's effort is comendable. When it comes to individual modes, most are as good to me:

Brawl is kinds the same. Sure Takara has some extra colour on the face but its nothing to write home about, though I do wish Hasbro's was a mroe toy accurate green to be more distinctive.

I preffer Hasbro's Swindle. The vehicle mode works much better to me and I like his chest better too with the nice colours and the coloured peg.

For Vortex its a trade off, both are ok. I like the extra blades but they are as much a burden as a blessing. Same for the colours, the blue on Takara's looks as off as the Yellow on Hasbro's. And I commend Takara on their show accuracy as mucha s I commend Hasbro on their toy accuracy. I guess for the fun of the chest colour, I preffer Hasbro's, I mean look at those colours!

Both Blastoffs are off. Sure, one is an actual shuttle, but I really dislike the arms just being there and the not forming the nose. Plus that protruding chest is bad comedy and those colours arent great. I love the look of Hasbro's in robot mode. The colours are great, but of course its just a redeco of a jet

And finally for Onslought, I always loved that Hasbro deco. It works really well for me, and I see him better in muted colours than in bright colours. And the vehicle mode's colours are better. But that combined torso on takara's looks great, so I guess its a toss up with a personal preference going to Hasbro.

In the end, both are fine and I am ok just sticking with Hasbro's. I dont feel as compelled to get this guy as I do Takara's computron which has a serious edge against Hasbro's.

Wheeljack and Smokescreen are barely-painted pieces of garbage and should be avoided. Hound and Trailbreaker look good though. Trailbreaker can do BIG HAND MODE with his HFG so there's that.

Trailbreaker and Hound: Can't tell, I don't have the previous versions.
Smokescreen: Yes.
Wheeljack: Heck no.


As for how I feel about them, Hound and Smokescreen are awesome (due to how good those molds are, but Smokey needs a lot of paint), Trailbreaker is pretty good (the mold is OK, but the forcefield hand is amazing), and Wheeljack should be avoided like the plague unless you want a completed Sky Reign.

If you dont own any yet, you could gain a lot from the Takara version http://tfsource.com/transformers-unite/ex-sky-reign/

Most are just different takes. Trailbreaker is more G1 in this version while the previous one was more rooted in IDW comics. And by getting the takara one you get the best classics ratchet done yet

AND, by getting that version you sip smokescreen who is quite a lazy output from Hasbro.

CW Wheeljack on his own is really bad, yes. And maybe it's cheating, but with reprolabels he can actually really shine and look quite lovely. If you're fine with sticker application and buying add-ons like this and you absolutely need a Wheeljack, it's not a bad choice.
But yeah, without the repros he's kinda crap

Buuuut... iirc that's a limited run, and I'm not sure how good the person is with imports. And from what it seems they just want classics iterations of Hound, Smokescreen, Wheeljack and Trailbreaker. And from the responses they read they might not even want all of Wave 6. So... just letting them know their options.

Its only limited in Japan, but we arent in Japan, so its not limited for us. And no importing required, you can get it from any online collectable store.

I've heard it splits/cracks the plastic on his cannon arm

But, yeah, avoid smokescreen and wheeljack like the plague, trailbreaker looks nice, and hound is really great. If you really want nice versions of them, check out the Unite Warriors version.
