Optimus has been known to be dead on occasion, so if no one deader comes along, he could be the torso. (When he's not hanging out with Voltron lions! Image)

Still apparently have the Technobots coming, too (assuming that wasn't a total fabrication), probably for the fall. They'll probably be mixed in with the Combaticons. There's also the white repaint of Prime (Optimus Maximus was it?) and Cyclonus. Then there's the Fan Built Combiner. CW is on a two year plan so it's far from over.

At the very least get Slingshot so you're not saddled with Alpha Tossbag.

as a toy, Alpha Bravo is actually my favourite Wave 1 figure, so that's not a problem for me.

I almost PM'd him myself. (Certainly didn't wish to derail yet another thread with shockblast2 vs. The World.) So thanks, Sabrblade!

Sorry fellas I didn't mean to derail the thread in anyway i was just wondering what he was on about.

Yeah new additional team members are good I mean look at how the new Defensor is done the Rook swat vehicle works well and Groove is still included in the team and he scales better too now. I think it was Tsu that said awhile ago that got me thinking about it that a member might be out of action so then the other team member could replace them for the time being. To me that is the point of Scramble City type combiners.

I used to get cut up when new characters came out but now I think its pretty cool plus its good to see a team being more than just 5 transformers now.

You guys are right in my books, mixing it up is good otherwise we just see the same old stuff day in day out and then it gets boring. I just see a lot of potential for everyone with these.

Ehhhh... I don't get too excited with the scramble city concept. I can understand people who believe in the 'set team' concept. Personally, I've always seen Superion or Devastator as being a combination of the core personalities and they only fit together one way... Mixing up a portion of that changes everything. How many Aerialbots do you need to make Superion? How many decepticons can you add to the mix and it still be Superion?

I've always been a fan of the giant Gestalt robots having MASSIVE power... but the 'required parts' were their weakness. If they don't have all 5, then they can't combine. Like when Voltron watches a lion get knocked out... they know they're hosed now... Or if someone is missing when they got to form Captain Planet... You have five components, and if you mess with the recipe, then you don't get what you want...

SLingshot or Bravo? I don't have much of an opinion. I didn't have the nostalgia for superion the way I did for Devastator... but yeah, I can see why some people would. It'd be like releasing Four Voltron Lions and a Semi Truck and saying it's close enough... >:oP

What I expect to see, is Cyclonus, Alpha Bravo, and... new stunticon to form a brand new 'gestalt with whatever other 'new guys' show up... That could be pretty cool use for the extra guys :D

I see where you are coming from. Like say the Devastator personality is made up by those limbs so if one of those limbs was taken out and replaced with another would the personality change abit or a lot.

When you mention fit together are you meaning physically like one has to be the right arm and on has to be the right leg? I quite like the idea of additional members though if it did change the combined robots personality then it would make for a pretty good story. One combination of components might want to completely destroy things where a limb change could alter the personalty slightly and might only want to destroy certain things. Or hatred of certain nemesis could be amplified to affect the combined robots personalty and so on and so forth.

I can understand that which is cool at least we have options now though thoset hat just want the original G1 robots and others that like the new characters or just get both well that's what I am going to do

Kind of... My main feeling against the 'extra members' concept is that it takes away the importance of anyone. If someone dies or gets incapicated... it doesn't really matter, ANYONE can be that leg/arm...

Is superion just Silverbolt on steroids? or is he something special in his own right?

One thing I noticed in the Bay movies was that the transformations weren't so... specific. The alt modes could be shifted a dozen times over and transformations worked just fine. I liked it better in the old days when it was at least implied that the bots were BUILT this specific way andthat they were designed to be combined. Such a thing wouldn't naturally be easy to overcome the loss of a team member...

Of course that concept started getting left by the sidelines with the mini-con cartoons and Prime Combining with all sorts of people/things... took a lot of the 'specialness' away from the combiners for me.

Finally, something to do with my Combiner Wars Optimus while I wait for those Autobot repaints of the Stunticon limbs!

(Ignore the rubber bands on the arms, and the lack of anything other than balance and a prayer holding the legs in place.)

That is so wrong! ;)

I have no plans to use Optimus as a combiner. I use him CW Prime for my "rebirth" Autobot shelf, Orion for my Season one Autobot shelf, and classics Prime for my 1986 movie Autobot shelf.

You surprise me X, you once stated you couldnt get why anyone would want a toy accurate release rather than a show accurate one. Are you taking back what you said?

I dont know why you'd need to double dip, just stick with Takara, that's what I am doing. And its not just the wing paint apps, its Superion's chest. There is a huge difference between the two that really brings out the show accuracy fo the takara version.

Here, let me explain:

The character model has Silverbolt's chest transform into Superion's chest and they are very different color wise. Silverbolt's chest in the G1 cartoon is red but seperated by white while Superion is red all across (except for a small patch).

Due to the engineering of back then, the G1 toy could not do that so the chest was a full red for both Superion and Silverbolt since it didnt really transform.

However, the new updated Combiner Wars toys have the engineering so that whatever chest Silverbolt has, Superion doesnt necessarily have to share it. And indeed, the transformation into a torso is quite involved and the same chest peices are not reused. And yet, Hasbro's lazy paint job doesnt showcase that at all since you still end up with a full red chest for both Silverbolt and Superion.

However, Takara does make the most of this great tnrasformation by showcasing how the torso has morphed and is far from just being Silverbolt's chest. And for once, the color change on the chest is very visible. This may look small, but it is a big deal for me since it highlights the evolution in engineering of these wonderful toys.

Image

The thing is, I had no plans to wait until June to enjoy displaying these molds. I tried to resist buying them when the Takara was first announced, but they kept calling me every time I went shopping at Walmart. If I really like the complete Superion, maybe ill double dip. But I already have Uranus. Im not sure I love Superion that much to have three of them. Same with Menasor. For the Aerialbots, Silverbolt is the only one with a truly different colored deco (besides stripes and small paint apps) Im not too concerned about Superion's chest (stock) because I plan to buy the perfect effect add on chest that covers most of the Hasbro chest. I might keep the Takara preorder. But then it will start a trend with Menasor and all the rest that I probally should do without.

I'd say relatively reasonable since, if he comes, he'd be next year's product, and Hasbro tends to make new molds every year.

okay so am I seeing things orders groove look like a straight copy of his appearance in spotlight bumblebee? The comic chest looks more like Cybertron ransack but the motorcycles got the front slope to it and the Electra Glide look like this figure. is that kind of the last time we saw groove?

after this whole slingshot backslash alpha Bravo I myself see a bottle of blue paint coming out in the immediate future and introducing the area box to a new teammate called fly up. I never liked alpha Bravo is a name but the molds too cool to ignore and I like having combiner teams with redundant members. it's kind of nice being able to replace your leg when you have your legs blown off. do I dare mention a repaint for barrel roll?

and speaking of prime, I have this little headcanon going that he volunteered for the scramble city upgrade to be able to better help some of his team. unbeknownst to him however the matrix following a similar pattern to the late marvel G1 run, decided to assert itself through the gestalt Personality. if I felt confident in my fanfiction skills I'd probably be writing some of this.

I meant for this year. I know CW is continuing in 2016, I just find it odd that for this year the line might be done by June, July.

Hate is such a strong word. Although some people may feel that way about Alpha Bravo, in my case I would rather say I feel indifferent or disinterested in him.

peaces wrote:a copter and a motorcycle on the same team?! bahahaha!

See, my disinterest had nothing to do with, "A helicopter with four jets? What is this blasphemy! They don't match!" It was more to do with, "These four characters who I remember from my youth with some random interloper? What is this blasphemy! Slingshot is missing!" So a helicopter and a motorcycle on the same team is fine with me, as Blades and Groove have always been on the Protectobot team. (And since we still have a form of Groove, even if he is now a chest plate, I am less concerned about the inclusion of Rook then I would be if Groove was missing from the team.)

Wave 2 is delayed due to the west coast dock strike, but even then it was held back a bit even in Asia. Wave 2 should've been out long before it became available, in fact I was able to obtain an Air Raid from a US importer before Asian sellers even had it available on eBay!

Not sure what's going on, but the dock strike certainly threw all the companies and businesses off balance.

Yeah, I think for younger fans who didn't grow up with the G1 cartoon, these new characters that have a vastly different vehicle mode will look great as a team and on the gestalt. BUT I'm seriously glad they went ahead and made the other retools for the old school fans... like me. >:oP

I'm actually loving the aesthetician of Offroad and will get him AND Wildrider too. The only reason I disliked Alpha Bravo is because he was one helicopter amongst jets and I think all the art and photos of him on Superion look terrible. Too drastic a change.
