What licensing are you talking about? Volkswagen owns Porsche or vice versa so the cars are covered.

Doesn't matter, they are still their own individual companies and licensing is not centralized. Different brands have different identities and thus each license has to be acquired at the individual company AND at the individual country where the toy is sold. Hence why licensed Honda toys can differ from the US and Japan, for instance.

Besides which, the race car number has nothing to do with Porsche anyway. The licensing issue with the race car number, if any, would be with Martini Racing.
Given the greater resemblance to the Porsche 935 Turbo (instead of having to camouflage with Solstice headlights), Porsche themselves may not have had a problem at all.

This is what I was referring to. They might have had to liscense the likeness to the original race car, in addition to the cost of the Porsche likeness if they went with the 4 on the doors (and if they made it look more like a Porsche) and decided that the cost for both would have been too much to be worth it. Same thing with Smokescreen and Wheeljack (and probably the DOTM Wreckers, which might be why they're in "attack" mode)

So far the reveals have turned me around on Kup and Jazz. Maybe I will get Jazz after all so he and Stepper can be different.

After Kingdom and Studio I may, finally, be done with TFTM. They've lapped these characters more than once now. It seems like they've finally got them all right. Right size, right sculpt. As much as I love that movie it may finally be time for me to be done with it once these lines are done.

Man, Jazz looks...kinda bad. Seriously needs some more colour breakup and the hollow bits suck. That is a shame, he looked alright from the initial leak.

Hasbro Pulse unboxed just put out this really cool article on the development of SS Devastator. At one point, Scavenger was planned to be commander class while Overload was a voyager, which I thought was interesting. If SS has been considered for commander class before, maybe that's something we could see in the future?

My wallet is very happy they went with the latter idea. I wonder if they would have made a Demolishor repaint had they gone with the Commander class option. If they are considering Commander class for Studio Series, I hope this means we'll get a Driller figure.

Eh, his hollows are par for the course for a Generations figure (especially a Deluxe with foldaway hands). I think the fact that his feet stick out in car mode is far more egregious.

Scourge and Kup are both looking good, and I'm pleased to see Kup doesn't have the faux-parts bullcrap that Hot Rod does.

I love the idea of having a huge Scavenger/Demolishor, but I can see why they went with a leader Overload for combined mode stability.

Speaking of which, I did get that Scavenger I bought forever ago from Gamestop, but I won't get to actually see it for another month or so. I'm excited for it, I think the robot mode scale will work really nicely with old legends class/Cyberverse.

I'm genuinely furious that we are getting all 5 of the G1 dinobots in this line before we even get a 2nd out of 4 movie Dinobots. That is ridiculous.

I kinda see what you're saying since this is the SS line...
But in the grand scheme, I'd say the G1 Dinobots getting larger scale updates has been put off for quite a while... In fact, I'd say it's been a ridiculously long wait for these.

I'm not convinced by Jazz... Dang, those hollow forearms are such a shame.
And even though I think it's a big improvement, the face sculpt for Kup is just so off imo.
Blurr is a doubt just because I wasn't a fan of that character.

Assuming I'm in for all of the Dinobots, Scourge and Hot Rod may be the only others I get...
At the same time, these don't come out until February? Who knows, I may end up getting Jazz.

It was certainly expected (no reason for her to be in the 86 line), but the lack of Slash is somewhat disappointing to me. She's honestly my second favorite Dinobot at this point, and while her POTP figure is nice, I would have definitely bought an ER Cliffjumper-esque Deluxe version of her.

This gives me hope that we will get a Commander class SS figure. Maybe the Driller, or Infernocus. Either way, I would be happy, and it would be so awesome to see a large standalone SS figure like that

The way his feet stick out the back actually fits the profile of the real-world car. The problem is... they're not sculpted or painted to be part of the car, they're just his feet.

the POTP jazz was nice but not quite what i was hoping for the last time we had something close was RTS Jazz

The more pleasant guess: G1 Jazz had a 4 on his doors while G2 Jazz had a 1 on his, and so Hasbro just put those two numbers together for some reason.

The, uh, unpleasant guess: Another hidden message like with POTP Jazz (which I would very much want to NOT be the case).
