You will notice in the photo evidence that these come with the comics and were thus not initially meant for UK distribution. Instead, these are grey imports, which means they weren't brough over by Hasbro UK but by another importer.
It's similar to how BBTS imports platinum editions from China and sells them for a similar price to the exclusive US retailer. It is also called parallel importing.
The fan who gathered all this news for us, TFW2005 member Payres, explains it better in the following quote:
A "grey import" is a toy that's been imported into the UK by a firm other than Hasbro themselves.
This usually means there's a sticker somewhere on the packaging saying "imported by" and naming the firm.
This particular firm has a record for this sort of thing going back to the mid 90s, maybe earlier
Grey Imports are frequently left over stock from another region so the boxes/cards for the toys are usually not the standard ones for the UK. Sometimes it's hard to tell but there's a dead giveaway here as these CW toys have the comics which the UK versions didn't. Last year lots of chains got cases of T30 Voyagers in stock, which we never got here.
Generally grey imports are sold to discount chains such as TK Maxx, Home Bargains and B&M. The discount chain mentioned here is a new one on most people. However at this time of year, when shelf turnover is high, they can end up in normal retail stores.
How widespread it is outside the UK I haven't a clue!

And I dont know if you remember Agamemnon, but the Alpha Bravo comics were given out free at a Shanghai event since they ended up never being used for a revision wave.

Indeed, if it could be found, I believe Dragstrip with comic was packed in wave 2 cases. (I never saw one in person.) And I wish I was in Shanghai when that happened. I haven't looked for some time, but I imagine these covers are around. I just wonder if they are available at a premium price because of completionists like me....

I really must check to see if they have anything to do with MBC (Chorley Woods Herts) who is the other one who does a lot of this stuff.
Those grey imports have been around literally for ever - they used to import Goadaikins in the 1980s and American Packed MASK, also lines like Air Raiders, Bone Age & Robotix even some Inhumanoids. egg beasts as well as Transformers, Gi Joe, Batman toys & 90's Action Man and likely dozens more.
I think people really noticed them though when they started dumping all that Chinese G1 & G2 stuff on cheap stores in the 1990s. (Like Devastator) they even used to sell their imports in Woolworths - I often hear people wondering why they have a Frenzy with plastic feet. (that is why).
Though Woolworths also did their own importing / exclusives too as dd ASDA (oddly this was before they were owned by Walmart).
I'm starting to see more of this sort of things - looking at the stuff TRU, The Entertainer & even Very have suddenly been stocking - makes me smell "Imports" I get that vibe from the sudden appearance of later Jurassic World toys - that previously had been on sale no where and that appear to not be in European packaging.
It would be terrific if they've imported some Voyagers too - then you might see Motormaster & white Optimus too.
Oh and there are imports of the legends class too (including Viper & Blackjack) in some cheapstores like the Original factory Shop marked 'MBC limited' as well as a whole lot of Hero mashers that have shown up out of no where that I've never seen before in the UK like Red Hulk & Deadpool.
I got a Blackjack myself in OFS 2 weeks ago for £6.00.

I just find it odd no one else has found it yet. The last few times someone on this forum found something at Marshalls or TJ Maxx (Sky Lynx, G2 sets), others have also found it within a few days. But as others have mentioned, maybe that particular store somehow just got it early (I hope) as opposed to some elaborate hoax.

Having done some research and comparisons, I thought I'd post my feelings on the Technobots and Computron as a whole (purely from what I've seen of them of course).
Scattershot: Hasbro's detailing on the vehicle nose/cannon shroud is cool but Takara's extra molded parts makes the UW release a win for me.
Afterburner: I actually prefer the colours on the Hasbro offering. The orange is pretty nice and the green canopy is cool. That said, the extra guns for UW Afterburner definitely elevates him a bit. A draw really.
Nosecone: Hasbro's offering has nice colours, and I actually don't hate the drill tank mode. That said, the extra mile Takara went with the UW release (including that awesome drill) makes me have to say the UW release wins here.
Strafe: Possibly the closest run. Hasbro has a really cool space jet mode, which reminds me of a retro space shooter ship. However the weird off-white and the total lack of handheld weapons is a bummer. Takara on the other hand has a nicer white, more playability and actual weapons. The space jet mode takes some getting used to, but overall I like it. Honestly though if it weren't for the lack of weapons and the colour they used I'd say this was a straight-up draw. As it is I think Takara edges out slightly.
Lightspeed: Yeah, no contest. Takara wins by a landslide.
Scrounge: Hasbro wins by virtue of him not being in the UW set. A cool little extra but I'd rather he'd been a standalone release.
Combined mode: Hasbro has some fairly nice colours I will admit, and overall he looks pretty nice, but the decision to just use the Superion head, chest and gun really lets it down IMO. The hands and feet IMO aren't the best either- the feet are hollow (which isn't good for stability) and have no forwards/backwards motion, whilst the hands are just lumps with holes in them. The UW release is maybe a smidgen monochromatic but it does still look good, with the chest "lights" helping to break up the sea of red, and the new parts helping differentiate between him and Superion. The HFGs suck as feet for sure, though as hands they're OK. Overall I have to give it to Takara, almost entirely based on the torso if I'm honest.
Also, DRILL HAND WOOOOOOO.
Overall I think I'm gonna try and get UW Computron + the PE hands and feet for Christmas. I've dropped enough hints, so hopefully the Calculating Colossus will be mine!

The story established Cybaxx as a renamed Boltax from Marvel G1, and had him imbued with the power and knowledge of the Underbase, which through his link with Scrounge (repurposed by this story as a Mini-Con) could augment Computron's own power and knowledge, which sound to me like some kind of super duper enhanced version of Computron what with him being the knowledge-based combiner and all.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Sabrblade wrote:After having read the final OMAM prose story from the Club, that story made me want Hasbro's CW Computron more than ever, in addition to my still wanting Takara's UW Computron. And with the use of Hasbro CW figures representing the combiner characters of the OMAM continuity, along with allusions to discarded proposals for the Hasbro CW toyline (Ironclad, Firestormer, etc.), it is evident that the Hasbro CW Computron was the specific version in mind for the OMAM version of Computron.

The Alternator/Binaltech Rodimus lacks the exhaust pipes too - as does the new 'The Last Knight' Version.
But had it not already have been mentioned I'd have pointed out that Rodimus Looks a little bit like the Micromaster version.
Also What I tend to do with Legions is look at them two ways - they can all be lumped together regardless of scale - I.e. Optimus & Huffer
Or you can look on the larger characters like Starscream, Megatron and Optimus as some sort of Commander class for legions.
Then the more typically smaller characters like Pipes, Cosmos, Tailgate or Bumblebee function as small version in comparison to a typical deluxe.
Rodimus can be either you can pretend he's Hotrod and is kinda small or Rodimus and pretend he's bigger.
But yes having a car mode does make him an odd one scale wise - I usually just put him with any other legion car as there are quite a few of them.
Besides it's just fun to make him have an axe fight with one of his repaints.
If the scale is the only issue though there is the option of the scout class size KO too. he's only a little smaller than a Combiner Wars Deluxe.
There is also the suggestion that the size of the normal one works pretty well with the KO Megatron, Nemesis, Starscream and Optimus too.
But otherwise he's just fine to use as a chest plate.
Posted by Kurona on November 20th, 2016 @ 4:21pm CST
The only real problem with that is that while it's great for cons - they've basically got all the Season 1 guys but Soundwave and Devvy; and even then depending on your scale you could argue Constructicon Maximus or even CW/UW Devvy is in scale with Legends - the Autobots are... less well off. You've got Optimus, Rodimus and maybe Bumblebee since he's sometimes bigger; but beyond that it's mostly guys that are usually small anyway - Cosmos, Windcharger, Warpath, Rewind, Wheelie etc etc.
So unless you go down the road of collecting the Universe Legions - which could work despite the different scale for things like Jazz being slightly smaller than Optimus - then it's difficult to get together an Autobot display of the current Legends scale. So Rodimus helps with that immensely.

Ultra Magnus from the Voyager Optimus Prime mold (redeco with shades of blue) that can tow a car carrier that also transforms into a Titan Master base.
Prowl from the Breakdown mold instead of the Dead End mold.
Side Burn from the Breakdown mold.
X-Brawn from the Offroad mold.
Maybe Skid-Z from the Dragstrip mold.
Art Fire and R.E.V. as Titan Masters with the Terri-Bull/Skytread/Tankette drone to mimic Ultra Magnus' cannons.

Blackjack is supposedly still a Micromaster, so naturally he ends up being smaller than the rest. Plus, being inspired by G1 Motormaster's Roller Car drone helps:

Making weapons and accessories is one thing, but creating new actual characters to integrate with actual Hasbro/TT product is something I don't think has ever been attempted before. I know 3rd party product walks a pretty tight line as it is, not sure how actual integration with copyrighted product would work, or would be allowed.
First of all, I apologize for the lateness of this response. Somehow I stopped receiving email notifications about this thread and then looked at the forum the other day and realized I was 30-some pages behind. Spent the last few days catching up.
Anyway, as far as integrating third party figures with HasTak figures, I point you towards one of the earliest 3P combiner efforts, Fansproject's Crossfire 02 upgrade set for Universe/ROTF Bruticus. They made original molds for Blast Off and Swindle (dubbed Explorer and Munitioner) along with extra parts to integrate with the existing figures. Until Warbotron came along it was the definitive Bruticus. So a 3P Liokaiser torso could be done.
As far as more directly CW news goes, I finally found a lone Sky Lynx at a TJ Maxx last week, along with a G2 Menasor set for $40. I thought about picking that up, decided against it because I don't really want it. I'm wondering if I should go back after all and buy it while it's cheap to sell off in the future, though. i'm not normally that kind of person but if this has resale value, it might be worth it someday.

A black one, or dark grey, for Motormaster
A silvergrey one for O/P
A blue/red/white one for BC O/P (to make him look like Ultra Magnus) or perhaps something totally new.
Transform into a base that can combine with eachother and with Fort Max / Soundwave / Blaster titans.
I want trailers darnit!!

I've thought long and hard, but I'm going to have to pass. It's not a figure I really want, and I really spent a lot of money these last few days. So it's hard for me to justify getting a figure I don't really want and I don't find visually appealing just because it's 60% off.
