All we know is that this must be exclusive since Hasbro already confirmed that there would be no new leader class toys in Power of the Primes Wave 4. And we also know it can't be a Toysrus exclusive. Wreck Gar was set to be a Walgreens exclusive, so it may be the same for Nemesis Prime, but nothing is confirmed about this toy aside from the fact that it exists.

"Spring is close" is the more direct one but that's not how you'd say that in English.

If it's real then someone put a lot of work into designing a near identical head. His forehead crest has the exact same pattern. Looking back the early photoshop FunPub made for Toxitron did have the vents, but the actual figure didn't. Plus the paint was pretty thick on the figure, not as sharp looking as this image. So it's either real and at some point Hasbro transferred the head render from that figure to this one or it's an amazing photoshop.
I find the sword in his left hand intriguing, it has a lot of joints on it. Maybe turns into a jet?

Maybe $50? Their other exclusives weren't ridiculously overpriced. Brainstorm was the same price as their other Deluxe figures ($17.99) and the clones cost less then two Legends (also $17.99). But I doubt it'll be a Walgreens exclusive, it's bigger and more expensive than most of the toys they sell. I'd sooner believe Target or a convention for something like this.

I see it more as an original mold homaging the armada minicon that came with nemesis prime
EDIT: The original minicon was a plane, not a bird oops.

Could be. Pretty sure this one is meant to reference Run-Over. This is clearly based on Armada Nemesis Prime.
Additionally, the new weapons are the only thing that makes me think this is real. (Well that AND every Optimus is inevitably going to be painted black.)
Additionally additionally, instead of making me lose sleep thinking that Onyx Prime will ONLY come with Predaking, they totally could have released this sword-with-birdish-face-molding as the unnecessary-but-still-kinda-nice-to-have sixth combiner member. Like Ion Scythe.

Wouldn't be the first time. Hasbro's new sweep head in the platinum line is so similar to the Botcon Devcon head, people thought it was the same. But no, totally new. And that exclusive was so exclusive, it never came to the US.

If I remember correctly, the TFSS Toxitron head isn't a sculpt that FunPub did. It was already tooled into the Optimus Prime Combiner Wars mold as an alternate "evil character" head. Hasbro themselves never used it, so they may be using that design now. The head is obviously going to be a little bigger overall on a leader sized figure that on a voyager sized figure. Now that Hasbro is designing with computer modeling, it's a snap to just upsize an old design they had sitting around. I bet Hasbro was considering a Nemesis Prime release in Combiner Wars during development, but the idea never went further than the head sculpt.
Also, I TOLD ALL OF YOU SO! A Nemesis Prime version of Power of the Primes Leader Optimus Prime was ALWAYS a given!

I myself am wondering how they will handle the Orian Pax part of this with it being Nemesis. It might be cool for Pax to have a prime head variation as well.

I don't know if it was a given since they've passed over so many opportunities over the years. But yes, you were right about this one. Or at least you seem to be right.
I imagine the Orion Pax body would come with a head similar to the original figure. Bonus points if it comes with a new chest.

From Hasbro? Cuz, that's what most of the skeptical crowd were thinking. Hasbro does it every once in a while. The reason why it seemed so likely for Power of the Primes is because there would otherwise be no other use of the Optimus Prime mold. It can't pass for any other character, unless they extensively retooled it into Ultra Magnus somewhere down the line. Hasbro doesn't usually care for "one and done" on any given mold. We didn't get Nemesis Prime repaints in Combiner Wars or Titans Return, because those Optimus Primes either got different retools/repaints later in the same line or were themselves retools. CW Voyager Optimus was later released in white and gold as Power Core Optimus Prime. TF Powermaster Optimus Prime was an extensive retool of CW Ultra Magnus, and it was then further retooled by Takara and released several more times.
It's likely Takara was very much in support of this POTP Nemesis Prime too. My guess is that, since Hasbro and Takara are now releasing identical toys in their respective markets, they're saving money by doing their production runs together at the factories. Some of the product will be set aside for Takara to distribute to Japan a few months later than Hasbro will do so in its markets. Doing more of the same product at once helps with the overhead quite a bit, and Takara and Hasbro can now share that reduced cost. What does this mean? If Hasbro is releasing Nemesis Prime, it's probably because Takara initially wanted to, and it was easier to justify financially if they made more at once to cover all markets, Hasbro included, instead of Takara doing a much smaller run just for Japan.

Feels like you just explained why it just as easily could've not been a black repaint. They could have made him blue like a few previous Primes or white like Battle Core OP, or retooled him into someone entirely different (Thunderclash? Armada Optimus Prime?). A black repaint never seemed like a sure thing. The last time Hasbro did a black repaint of a Prime was the 2014 Legends Nemesis Prime (if you don't count Primitive Skatboarding Prime which wasn't designed by Hasbro). They've had lots of opportunities between Prime, RID CW, TR, AOE, and TLK, but didn't take them, opting to do other things instead.

Besides being a big truck it doesn't seem like the mold suits him at all, I for one would prefer an original mold and this is coming from someone who doesn't mind repiants and remolds most of the time.

And you just answered your own question. There aren't a whole lot of trailer trucks to choose from that would be accepted as a Leader. Motormaster might work, but he just got a figure and I think we're past the point of Combiners that don't combine.

Why go with a super extensive retool instead of making up a new mold down the line for him then? (Because a minor retool isn't going to work for Thunderclash)
Nemesis is nice and simple to make for them, and hell I appreciate the new head and guns as well as some of the teal on him.
(I seriously like that headsculpt, and while it does look similar to Toxitron's head which in of itself was designed by Hasbro for a Nemesis Prime they never made the mold's are actually different.)
And honestly when is the last time we have gotten a fake leak? The badly photoshopped TLK stuff that was quickly debunked?

I was personally very much fine with this and the Headmaster versions of characters that weren't.
It's new interpretations of characters and I appreciate as much freshness we can get.

I wasnt refering to Hasbro specifically but I was pretty sure we would get a black redeco of this in one way or another.
This could be a further example of Brand Unification.
Posted by Sabrblade on April 2nd, 2018 @ 9:38pm CDT
The former was a 3H BotCon idea, done at a time when G1 characters getting new toys was unheard of, and done with a mold that was pretty much the only available option that could have conceivably worked, but even then was it a stretch since the accompanying fiction still had to explain why she looked like that then.Skritz wrote:Or going further back, pre-Neo G1: Beast Wars/Machine and RID 2001 molds with a new paintjob as G1 characters. As for the latter, that was more of just an "in name only" case since G2 Jhiaxus wasn't orange. An obscure, hard-to-come-by collector's club magazine (the only one of its kind, even) was what retconned the RiD toy into being the G2 character in a new body.
Now, something like RiD Storm Jet being a mass retail Hasbro figure using G1 Jetfire's deco as a direct homage at a time when G1 homages like that were virtually nonexistent would be a more on the money example.

What makes you think it would be extensive? A new head and chest in evolved mode is all I would expect just like they did with Armada Megatron or all the Decepticon Seeker Jet retools from Jetfire. Thunderclash isn't important enough to Hasbro to get a new mold and the only way you're getting him with a trailer is as a Leader so it's a matter of best case scenarios.
Nemesis is nice and simple to make for them, and hell I appreciate the new head and guns as well as some of the teal on him.
Oh, no doubt this is the simplest path to getting a new use out of the figure and I don't actually think there's any chance of a Thunderclash being made from the mold, I was simply listing alternatives to why a black repaint isn't a sure thing every time we get a new Prime mold.
(I seriously like that headsculpt, and while it does look similar to Toxitron's head which in of itself was designed by Hasbro for a Nemesis Prime they never made the mold's are actually different.)
I hope people didn't think I thought it was actually the Toxitron head on the PotP Prime body. Obviously his little head wouldn't look good on a Leader body and I can't imagine anyone taking apart such an expensive figure just to make a custom, I was thinking more along the lines of the image being photoshopped. But the more we've dissected the image the more obvious it's a new sculpt based on Toxitron's.
I'm leaning more towards this being the next SDCC exclusive since the number of new weapons seem to be on par with the extra stuff that came with Primitive Prime.
And honestly when is the last time we have gotten a fake leak? The badly photoshopped TLK stuff that was quickly debunked?
I don't know if I would call that one debunked since it isn't that much different from the PotP and Studio Series leaks which also had a bunch of photoshopped images in them. The only thing that leak got wrong was Onslaught getting a figure and Nitro and Hot Rod being TRU exclusives (and Rod being retooled from the wrong figure which we've seen happen on official Hasbro images before).

- the head: the planned CW Nemesis Prime which was turned into TFSS 5.0 Toxitron
- the arm guns: Armada Nemesis Prime
- sword with red blade: tentatively the Star Saber, or its Dark Saber (or Vorpal Saber, whatever) redeco wielded by Armada Nemesis Prime
