If that IS true- and that's a big if- it's still unacceptable. I don't care why the eyes aren't there, only that they aren't. Whether it was Funpub or the factory that f*cked up, somebody still f*cked up.

I'm not saying it isn't a screw-up, I'm just saying to assign the blame in the right place. We know factory errors happen. Figures have wound up on shelves misassembled, with paint in the wrong places or even completely missing, etc. At least FunPub took it upon themselves to offer a fix.

This quote will hold a special place in my heart.

I agree that Megatron's missing dragon eye deco is a flaw, and even if it's a factory error, FunPub really should've been more transparent about the issue (wouldn't be the first time; see the Punch/Counterpunch head issue).

However, I'm surprised to see this invoking such an acidic response. It may be worth taking this up with FunPub customer service (in a more measured tone), expressing your distaste at the prospect of having to pay an additional fee for something that you quite reasonably expected to be part of a standard product, requesting stickers free of charge.

Delta Magnus wrote:But they are definitely idiots.
Still, it's out of line to be calling people who aren't that bothered by the flaw idiots.

Whoa, hey...poopy conversation to walk into here. >:oP

Factory error. Final figures received after production samples were missing painted eyes. Legit not FunPub's fault.

So they managed to get the eyes onto a sticker sheet for those who were bothered. Good looking out right?

Great.

Onto more interesting dragon and Megatron related discussions! :D

The stickers are actually quite nice. They're kind of like vinyl, they stretch and dent to fit crevices, and they stick well. I was a little irked at the lack of eyes, but the stickers work well.

Wait, so there are stickers for Megatron's dragon eyes on the Magnaboss sticker sheets? Which ones are for his dragon eyes? (I got the stickers but can't tell which ones are for Megatron's dragon eyes)

The yellow kinda-rectangular ones. There's enough eyes on the sheet to cover 4 dragon heads, so even the sloppiest sticker-applicators will be covered.

I'll post some pics later.

Too bad there were only 40 sticker sheets (I believe - correct me if I'm wrong). Sigh.

At any rate, if the only thing people can complain about is missing beast mode eye paint, then I would say Megatron is a resounding success. Outdated mold or not, he's freaking cool.

I wouldn't call that mold outdated at all. It shares many of today's toy design philosophies. It holds up better than most Armada toys. It's so ahead of it's time, probably owing to it's need to transform into 10 distinct modes.

G1 Sixshot is the same way to a degree.

Car Robots Megatron is far from outdated. At the price point he was sold at (£20 RRP, I think) - you'd struggle to get anything like the play value or articulation today.

I had stated before that I thought the Megatron head sculpt looked like junk. After I saw it with my own eyes in real space. I did a 180 in my opinion. It's outa sight in person. That toy is one of the most entertaining and evil ass bad guy molds ever made. It will withstand the test of time for years to come.

I do think the toy's overall design sensibilities are outdated, or put another way, the aesthetics don't quite match the other toys in the set. He's simply not as streamlined.

As far as articulation, he's more than adequate (sans ball jointed neck).

And yes, that face sculpt is amazing!

That might be the best way to put it. The engineering is up to standard, but the aesthetics are what make the toy feel so much older since the toy is physically so much more ornate, decorated, and detailed when compared to the toys of today that have a greater amount of smooth surfaces with less molded detail in them and transformations that are quick-and-easy to do. The mold's aesthetics are almost like the secret lovechild of those of the Beast Era toylines and the Revenge of the Fallen toyline.

Good to know. I hadn't bothered asking at the show because I heard the (initial) 40 sets sold out. If there were more, maybe they'll be available at the club store later with the other leftover souvenirs.

#BotCon2016 'Dawn of the Predacus' Magnaboss Sticker Sheet Instructions

Postby Va'al » Thu Apr 14, 2016 2:46 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Did you drop by BotCon 2016, pick up a Predacus set, and really want your Magnaboss counterpart for the DeceptiPredacon combiner? As we showed at the weekend, the Club did offer a sticker sheet which enables the closest thing to it, by decoing Unit-3 and Tigatron (from the show), and CW Ironhide, Prowl and Silverbolt - just follow the instructions below, courtesy of TF_JW!

Hey @AllsparkNews, @seibertroncom, @tfw2005, @TFormers, and @BotCon fans everywhere, are you ready for some Magnaboss decal instructions?

Let's start With Megatron. While not part of Magnaboss, he has decals on Ironhide's sheet. Pred symbol & dragon eyes. There are 8 Megatron eyes on the sheet. The extras are there because of how tiny they are - you will have spares if you tear or loose one.

Image Image

And now the actual stickers for Ironhide. He uses all the rest in the gray as well as one of the Maximal symbols. 2 things about Ironhide: Apply the chest decals from bottom to top. Watch for wrinkles. And apply the bottom waist decals before the belt. Applying the 2 bottom waist stickers 1st (start at the outside) will let you cover anything extra under the "buckle".

Image Image

Silverbolt gets some brown added to robot and jet mode. Maximal symbol locations are suggestions, not guidelines. A lot of the sculpted detail lines up under the lines on the decals. The stickers have enough give to push down into the details if gentle.

Image Image

Magnaboss has an option for fans: Mouth or no mouth. In case anyone is off-put by the grin. Again, the Maximal symbol position is optional as well. Sticker order for Magnaboss, it is best to apply the "nose" area decal 1st. And apply the sides of the "bird" head 1st before the top.

Image Image

Prowl probably has the most decals. Lots of stripes, lights, and emblems. I think the Prowl in the case at the convention was missing the yellow horn decals. Please note that the white decal that goes over the black nylon "elbow" piece must be applied before the stripes. Speaking of those UK police stripes, there is another option for Prowl that I don't have photos for. But you can leave the UK stripes off, leave the BW robot mode decals off, and add the Autobot symbol for a more-accurate G1 look. Also on Prowl's sheet are those little circle Decepticon logos? Where do those go?

Image Image
Image

They go on TCC Ramjet and Skywarp's forearms. The white ones work on Takara Starscream too.

Image

Lastly, those red Decepticon symbols on Ironhide's sheet. SG? Sure. Or use one on Ravage for show accuracy. More about the @BotCon decals. The spare faction stickers include Wreckers which can be used on Tigatron or TFSS 5.0.

Image
Image

Another thing missing from the Magnaboss in the case (I forgot to convert the weapons this way), his sword! It's a little undersized, but Magnaboss needs a sword!!

Okay, with all the stickers properly in place, Magnaboss looks pretty good.

...Except for that goofy 1980s/90s Ninja Turtle Toy-esque mouth. Seriously what expression is that supposed to be? Is it a grin? A scowl?

Maybe it's just that he needed a nose in the sticker. Magnaboss had a pretty distinct shnoz.

Everything else looks great though. It's exactly what I was hopping would be done to balance out Predacus. Even that sword is a nice touch.

It was 400 sticker sets, not 40. A typo dropped the second zero from the sales sheet.
