Is it because the real subject look fake more and more? There's not even a deluxe Breakdown.

Oh and the FE has shoulders made of wheels. The reviews make the PRID look worse than possible.

PLOT TWIST: There's nothing inside because it's something someone made up for their Graphics Designer course.

I'm thinking it's just a mock up or package sample and there probably isn't anything in the box. That would explain some of the quirks like saying "figure" but having two names or mentioning a sticker sheet when Hasbro swore those off with PotP. It's all very odd.

Well, there's not a huge rush to move on these, they have plenty of anniversaries to celebrate thanks to have sluggish the launch was. The series started with books in 2010, the cartoon and FE toys in 2011, and the RID toy line in 2012. I think they'll be angling towards 2020/2021 both as the anniversary window.

Wasn't there an issue with the FE involving distribution? I remember that Canada got the figures first and in some cases only. It's been 10 years so the memory is fuzzy.

Indeed there was. The FE toys initially only saw release in Canada, then they didn't show up at US TRUs until very late, but only the Wave 1 Deluxes. It wasn't until the first GDO Generations toys showed up at TRU for the 2012 holiday season that the entire FE line finally got a second run, but for that second run Voyager Optimus had missing paint apps on his vehicle mode.

It was all the fault of the DOTM toyline clogging the shelves so much in 2011 that FE got shafted in US distribution that year.

Rather, the wrong paint mask was used: the re-release uses the one for the clear Japanese exclusive released a few months earlier which omitted some areas.

War Breakdown may still be possible, because the reason why the mold wasn't released, as I've read, was while it was started and then seemingly abandoned, TakaraTomy finished it without considering Hasbro's rigid price points (compared to TakaraTomy's). In other words, it fell between two Size Classes: too large for Deluxe, not large enough for Voyager.

SDCC 2012. I may be off with the whole "between two Classes" stuff, but the mold as finished by TakaraTomy with the ports and the Arms Micron didn't align properly with Hasbro's pricing it seems:

Yeah, I was really looking for confirmation that it was indeed between two size classes. For all we know, the figure could have been higher cost wise than a Voyager.

War Breakdown does have the right dimensional size for what the TF: Prime RID Voyagers were like at the time (in fact, the FOC Voyager Soundwave released contemporaneously was even much bigger and chunkier than War Breakdown), but having experienced the mold via the BotCon 2015 Megatron retool, War Breakdown does feel more intricate a figure to transform than your average TF: Prime RID Voyager. So I'd wager it was less of an actual size issue and more of a parts count issue.

In other words, he is technically sized right for what the Voyager class toys were like at the time, but his insides had much more going on than the other, less-intricate Hasbro-budgeted Voyagers.

Compared to the RiD or FE ones? I will agree he feels more... delicate than the rest, from my experiences with Swerve.

Even then the FE voyagers were released at the Voyager price point and he is as intricate as those. So we had toys at the same price being released around the same time. I just dont see what exactly puts him in no man's land.

The FEs were from a different line from the previous year, and they were only a mini-line that was a preview for the main line to come the following line. And, originally, they were going to be Generations releases before deciding to give them their own release as a separate line.

Plus, there was a major change from 2011 to 2012 in that the Prime toys got simpler and more gimmicky when they switched from FE to RID, while the Generations line revamped for its Fall of Cybertron phase with smaller, less complex Deluxes than those of the 2010-2011 part of the line, and the two brand new Voyager molds of the line (Soundwave and Grimlock) were very basic and simplistic.

Hasbro Finally Answers Your Prayers with the Prime Boxset

Postby william-james88 » Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:59 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
This is probably the news of the year, no exaggeration. The Transformers Prime toyline is a gold standard for a TV show line offering a mix of new designs with established characters and giving them mostly good screen accurate toys with a satisfying complexity. There were 2 key toys missing from the US toyline though, Breakdown and the Jet vehicon. Both were only offered in Japan and that Breakdown figure has now achieved grail status for several collectors. Well Hasbro will be releasing both in their new 10th anniversary set. We know this thanks to images that surfaced on Cybertron Philippines. So here's the easier question, who is not getting it?
The only negative is that this is not a Hasbronified version of those toys, but a rerelease of the Japanese version, meaning it will have a purposeful lack of paint and added 5mm ports, both of which were standards in the Arms Micron line they come from.
