We didn't see his spark destroyed, and IIRC they made it a point in the movie to tell us that that's the soul of a Transformer and as long as it stays intact everything else can be rebuilt. Or does Megatron's DoTM "death" and subsequent AoE resurrection contradict that? Again I say, I wish Bayverse wasn't such a mess story-wise.

His spark was ripped out violently with the wires still attached that's like if a human had his heart ripped out he still died.

His whole death had a point and served the story he should stay deadline everyone else besides the two leaders have.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

But it wasn't destroyed, Lockdown kept it as a souvenir. Optimus did believe Ratchet died so I guess that's as close to a confirmation as we'll get. I'm willing to accept that Ratchet died, but not because his spark was ripped out. A Transformer can survive that.

I still would like to know what actually happened to his spark.

I would imagine that even if his spark survived being ripped out of his body it wouldn't last long without energon.

He planned to wipe out humanity and destroy Earth to rebuild Cybertron. Premeditated global mass murder qualifies as evil don't you think? Even though as was stated in DoTM Earth was a pre-planned meeting place for Sentinel and Megatron "so many years ago." I haven't read any other movieverse support material so I don't know if it was ever explained if there was life on this planet when that decision was made. If we go by Bayverse chronology it had to be after the Star Harvester was built by The Fallen and by then there was sentient life here so that means Sentinel made a conscious decision to wipe out the entire population of a planet when he could have found an uninhabited planet to use. Or maybe as it was said, they needed slaves to help rebuild. Man I wish Bayverse wasn't such a jumbled mess story-wise.
Sure from a human perspective he would seem like the "big ol' bad guy", but if you were a Cybertronian he very well could have been your savior.
I doubt the Autobots would have approved.
I thought the line was used perfectly in both context of his motives and as a cool homage.
I agree that the line fit well with Sentinel's intentions but I think it was written after Nimoy's involvement was decided. As Sabrblade said, it's what he's most famous for. Not the line per se, but the event (Spock's death) that's associated with it.

Question- " He planned to wipe out humanity and destroy Earth to rebuild Cybertron. Premeditated global mass murder qualifies as evil don't you think?"
Yes I think it does (cause I am human), but it is really on how he (Sentinel) views humanity. He may see humanity in the same way a farmer views his cattle. In the farmers mind he is doing nothing wrong when he kills his "product" so that he can make money and provide for his family. But I am sure that in a cows mind, when it is being slaughtered it sees the farmer as evil incarnate.

Comment- "I doubt the Autobots would have approved."
If this wasn't the Live Action Universe we were talking about I would agree with you. But it seems in this universe Autobots don't have that much concern about human lives, like with how Ironhide in the first movie wanted to "take out the parents". Or also when he said " Why are we fighting to save the humans? They're a primitive and violent race". It seems that they only care cause Optimus tells them too, cause without him they (the Autobots) might go around using the flesh creatures as target practice......again this is only for this universe. But I could also use Ratchet from Transformers Prime as an example, when he found out that Optimus sacrificed the chance to save Cybertron with the Omega Lock to save the kids, he was royally pissed off, and I think if it was up to him he would of save Cybertron instead.....just my opinion when I watched that episode.
