I like the concept, myself. Don't get me wrong, I do feel it was spread too thin across Combiner Wars and made it stale. It had already come to the point that Combiners of a similar build are expected have Scramble abilities. I miss the likes of Magnaboss, Tripredcaus, Road Caesar and JRX/Railracer.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I far preferred the scramble part, it is still cool to swap limbs around and to make all new combiners. It has been super fun

I like the Scramble City idea even if I never use it. I think it adds a lot to the figures as a whole. As a kid I'd have been frustrated at not being able to make a whole combiner, so everyone sharing ports is a smart idea.

The big flaw of CW is how samey everything got. I stuck with the main G1 guys and even then you still get repeats mold-wise. Unfortunately that thinking infected the femmebots in Primes. I'd have liked at least two different female molds. I know it's off topic, but the repeat of molds is the biggest weakness to me.

I would at the very least have welcomed Firestar having her proper altmode.

Ioved the scramble City aspect, I think it's great fun. I also made peace with the sameness across the molds. It was clear that the massive repaint potential was what made hasbro agree to the line in the first place, so it was an acceptable compromise for me.

I would still love to see them go for the other combiner styles though like them doing a Generations Safeguard for instance...

this right here. Not all combiners have to be 5/6 bot ones, go wild, make the symmetrical combiners, do more like Battletrap, etc!

Scramble City is cool, I have my Computron set up with Nosecone and Lightspeed as the arms and Strafe and Afterburner as the legs. There's something really neat about being able to configure your combiner however you like.

I'll agree on non-traditional combiners being awesome too. I'd love to see a new Tripredacus (or Tripledacus for maximum- or should that be Meximum- fun) and I wouldn't mind seeing the return of 2-bot combiners honestly. Like, Energon's Autobot combiners but done right, or even Symmetrical Docking style ala GaoGaiGar or Animated Safeguard.

Overall, I liked Combiner Wars. I got into them a bit late. I sold off all my old third-party combiners to get them, but it was worth it. I can play with them and have fun.

Yeah, having the G1 car Autobots become combiners was... odd. And yeah, it got a bit samey, but I will give them credit for head swaps and remolds and reshells.

Also, unlike POTP, the combined forms having ACTUAL WEAPONS is very nice. Even if a lot of them look goofy.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.
