Glad to hear this is all coming together for you :)

What (if any) plans have you made for your collection? I've no idea how you'd ship something like that!

Probably have them shipped over the same way my wife will ship her clothes  In the mean time, I am trying to pick out some of my favorite pieces to act as mascots for the move as they'll be traveling in the baggage ahead of the others. AM Leo Prime and his team are strong contenders if you must know.

Ok, why in the hell did it take a month? :BANG_HEAD:

Finally sent off the requested paper work, hopefully everything will fall into place.

FINALLY! Progress!

After a long delay, we decided to call in and ask what was the hold up. Long story shot: my application got accepted and will now move into the final phase.

Oh god it's getting closer...... Run children run... I'll try to fight it off with a stick!

Congrats. I know how slow paperwork can be a lot of the time. Just out of curiosity, I understand if you don't want to answer, how much is it going to cost to ship all your things here?

At least I know what bait to use in case the rabbitcatgirl reverts to her criminal Communist ways and has to be apprehended. It pays to think ahead.

Just no regular retail Mini-Cons, my tastes are more expensive. But well worth it

Good news, the confirmation letter just came in the mail and it says they'll come to a final decision within 30 days. 30 days! In the mean time, my wife's Resident's Permit for the Netherlands will expire, but we've already requested a 5-year extension. But that is taking its sweet time...

*bumps* Long overdue update, and it's a doozy. :BANG_HEAD:

OK, first the good news: progress! I've passed initial checkups, all payments have been dealt with (Tip: they only accept IE for internet payments. Damn you Bill Gates!) and now, the next major obstacle: forms with legalese. And we kinda need help with some of the legal definitions to avoid any screw-ups. Thing is, the ones who helped us before can't provide any since they're "legal documents", so we have to look elsewhere...

JelZe I can't help but feel your dealing with the wrong people. Start complaining to the Congressmen/women from her home state, federal and state. Write a few nicely worded letters to the US ambassador to the Netherlands, that is where you live isn't it? Cause frankly this is taking a ridiculous amount of time.

Considering the reputation government has for things like this--actually, come to think of it, for just about everything--I'd say he's getting the fast track. Passing the buck is just par for the course in bureaucracies.
For sale: My entire Transformers and third-party collection. Includes Masterpiece, Generations, Universe, Movie, Prime, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, G1, G2, a few Japanese imports, etc. Many never opened, the rest displayed in enclosed display cases to keep the dust off. A few ads on Craigslist/OfferUp for DC/MD/VA locals, will post on boards or ebay when I have time.

Ok, time for a little update.

Sent in what hopefully is the final paperwork, the Affidavit of Support documents. This is actually the second time we had to send it in, the first contained a very minor error ("N/A"| instead of the required "0") so we were told to send it in again. Apparently government are pedantic about rules and procedures anywhere and not just here in the Netherlands. It's gotten to the point the process of bringing my wife over was easier than me going over there. Go figure.

Hey Jelze! Good luck with everything. I went through a similar process. My wife is Japanese and you probably remember that I lived there for a bit. We got married in Japan and then moved to the U.S. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of help.

I also shipped my Transformers overseas in a container.

Well, guess what. The Immigration Services are so swamped
with applications that they're behind. They sent an email saying they wouldn't be able to sent a response to mine until the 16th of August. :BANG_HEAD:

*Bump*

After a while of silence, I'm happy to report we're practically there! The consulate has set a date for my formal interview: March 3rd. Before that though, I have my health exam on February 17th. Nervous as hell for both, thankfully I have documentation, especially for my vaccinations. Just a general exam and an X-ray, nothing really big. For the interview I don't know what to expect... except I have to go in all alone. Bummer.

The moment is finally here: I just received my Immigrant Visa!

Yup, I'm now free to go to the United States of America! In fact I have to be there before August 17th when it expires. Plenty of time to figure out how I'm gonna get all of my junk over there...

Yup, I'm now free to go to the United States of America! In fact I have to be there before August 17th when it expires. Plenty of time to figure out how I'm gonna get all of my junk over there...
I reccomend the REALLY BIG Box. And lots of packing materials.

In all seriousness, I would suggest packing like you were gonna sell them. (Don't, unless there's really something you thin you don't want. Just pack like it. Shipping and Handling can be extremely hard on items, and things happen. On that same note, if they offer insurance on however you ship your schtuff, furniture, clothing included, I would highly reccomend you do it. The best case scenario is that you don't need it, and that everything arrives safe and sound. The worst case scenario,

Yeesh....

I did look into shipping/moving containers like those, but they're too big as we won't ship any furniture or anything bulky of the sort. Just a lot of boxes with crap
The prices are really scary, a couple thousands when shipping furniture (which we won't). I'll be shopping around and get plenty of estimates once we have everything packed as they charge by volume.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one
