Hate to admit it but I only got around to watching A.O.E. a few days ago, (just no time to watch movies anymore), and I honestly have no problem with any of these nominations. I am kind of P.O.d at all the people who said this movie was as good as the first one because they got my hopes up. OMG it is terrible! There are so many things wrong with this flick but I won't go into it here as it has already been done to death. The only good thing I can say is that at least it was marginally better than Revenge of the Fallen. But it's still one of the worst movies I have seen in a very long time.

THANK YOU!

And I don't think anyone else has ever mentioned (or even noticed) this, but the final fight in the city in The Avengers is very similar to the final fight in Dark of The Moon, if not an outright rip-off.

I only watched it a couple of weeks ago myself, and while I did enjoy it as an action movie, I had one major problem with it as a Transformers movie. The way the human-constructed Transformers Transformed. I thought this was meant to be about Transformers, made of solid metal, not liquid metal shapeshifters.

I think that this is more a thing for the thread in which the movie itself is discussed, not this one. I'm too lazy to post a link to the thread. But I'm guessing you're smart enough to find said thread yourself.

I thought the way KSI made their creations transform make sense in a way because they've just cracked the code to using the same matter that the Cybertronians are made of so it makes sense why they transform that way because it was at the beginning stage. Besides who's to say Galvatron won't eventually transform the old fashioned way in TF5 again but till retain the power to shape shift as an alternate means to escape?

If I have to be really honest I don't really listen to what critics say when it comes to certain movies like the TF franchise because in the end if I want to listen to what they say or not I can do that as well as seeing the movie and coming to form my own opinion by myself. I don't have to look up to them as the complete means to see and like what movies they recommend because sometimes what they may think is amazing may not be that amazing and vice versa because sometimes it's all subjective. Especially if some of those critcs go as far as to berate and insult people who dare to like some of what the TF movies have to offer as being immature and having bad taste which is almost hypocritical of them since they accuse Bay of treating his viewers as idiots. (Looking at you Nostalgia Critic.)

Did I somewhat enjoy the movie (5/10 enjoyed it)? Kinda. Is it a bad movie? In my opinion? Yes. And yet, a lot of people believe that if they enjoyed a movie, it is a phenomenal work of art. -_- I'm not even saying this as a Transformers fan. As a major movie buff with my interest spanning musicals, action thrillers, fantasy films, and all around action movies...this movie fails to deliver in whole. I don't know about you guys, but I'm kind of tired of the films focusing on the humans rather than the actual bots and cons. I hate to do this but, LETS COMPARE this to Guardians of the Galaxy and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Just...IMAGINE if those movies DIDN'T focus primarily on the Guardians OR the Apes. You cannot tell me that you people (Yeah, I said it) are satisfied with the Transformers playing SECOND FIDDLE to the ants in their own movies. :BANG_HEAD: Okay, rant over.

Evil_the_Nub wrote:No, it's completely subjective. Everything they criticize the Transformers movies for is something they overlook pretty much everywhere else. They bash it for the action, explosions, acting, and weak plot, but The Avengers is is just as guilty of all that and I've never heard a word against it. They complain that it's too long, but there are dozens of universally praised movies that are even longer. Those are valid reasons to dislike a movie, you can't argue against personal opinion. But in order to fairly label it bad it needs to be objectively flawed.

1. The Avengers excelled in it's characters, action, story, acting, and has fun with itself and is a landmark for cbm movies ALTOGETHER. Let me know when a Transformers film can claim all of the above, minus the latter. 2. The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Pup Fiction, and the Godfather warranted long running times, as important events were happening practically every scene. Again, let me know when a Transformers film can claim this feat. 3. Practically every movie imaginable is flawed. Yet, what is shown on screen and how it is presented can make a person "forget" or "overlook" said flaws. The content in AOE was obviously not capable of this. >:oP

No, I'm saying be fair and unbiased. Why is it Transformers gets so much crap for being mindless action movies and nobody says that about Pacific Rim? Why is a very brief shot of a couple of wrecking ball so offensive that people complained about it for years, but Ted and This is the End were somehow less offensive while being about 1000 times more vulgar? Why is changing their alt modes and colors so horrible, but completely changing everything about Ra's Al Ghul, Joker, and Bane ok? Why is it when Michael Bay is director he's responsible for everything, but when he's one of several producers, suddenly the producer's in charge and everything is now the producers fault.

Good point. We can blame the screenwriters, cinematographers, and editors, too...

Thanks for reminding me about the additionally awful layers that stacked up to make AoE a singularly awful, terrible, and atrocious piece of scrap.

this movie more than deserves all the hate it gets. The Live-action movies have been on a bad downward slide in quality. AOE was pure ((&^^%%*&(( from beginning to end.

That's less a defense of AoE and more a condemnation of Uwe Boll.

But hey, it was good for a laugh! ;)

Transformers: Age of Extinction Nominated for 13th Annual Visual Effects Society Awards

Postby Va'al » Wed Jan 14, 2015 4:18 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
If there is one category that Paramount and Michael Bay's Transformers movies can be recognised as succeeding by most fans, it's in the visual effects departments. And it seems as though the industry also agrees, as we know from ComingSoon.net: Age of Extinction has been nominated for the 13th Annual VES Awards, in the Outstanding Models in any Motion Media Project category! Read a bit below, and find out more about other nominees here.

“Visual effects in and by themselves are nothing unless they serve the story,” said Jeffrey A. Okun, VES Chair. “This year, more than ever, we are seeing amazing work that not only serves the story but tells the story in a manner never before seen. The VES Awards is proud that we are the only organization that showcases and honors these amazing artists in depth and across a wide range of fields. We are extremely proud of our nominees!”

Some of the effects in AoE are mind blowing but i noticed a series of really odd errors in the first half of the film. Whenever cars are in the middle distance (as opposed to close up) they're empty. No drivers, no passengers. I assume these cars are CGI but it's a really strange oversight as it would have taken them no time at all to stick a virtual mannequin in the seats to make a silhouette against the ever present sunset on the farm.
