No, I followed it easily as well.

vectorA3 wrote:Minus side: A friend of mine who worked on the movie (& is diehard Joe comic fan) said he didn't think the film will be that good. Don't know what his opinion is now though.

He was an extra, he hasn't seen the final product, which as we've seen includes heavy CGI. That's like criticizing a comic even though you've only seen the pencils, not the inks, colors, or even text.

vectorA3 wrote:Rumor has it that director Stephen Sommers was kicked out of the editing room & a new editors were brought in -things got so heated. Unfortunately the studio/money men get final say.

It never happened, it was just a rumor that got out of hand. Sommers never got fired or kicked out of anything.

Can you point me in the direction of a pic of this new Cobrs Commander? I've been dying to see what he looks like.

Right here. Sorry it's so small, could soemone find a bigger pic?

The good news, that's Destro wearing that mask. Bad news, that's Cobra Commander on the far right.

Major assumptions you made. First, my friend wasn't an extra he worked in the assistant directing department for the run of the film. Not some schmuck dayplaying extra. Second, I heard the Sommers rumor from 3 different people -one of whom works on the Paramount lot. I didn't say he got fired -just kicked out of the editing room. This doesn't happen very often, but it happens & as I said, the moneymen have the final say & they have carte blanche.

Heres the thing with critics if they hate a movie it's proberly awesome the more they hate it the better it is. this doesn't always happen but 95% of the time it is true. I don't think the G.I. Joe will be better than ROTF. for me the new transformers movie was awesome the story was good for me. to be honest when has a movie or show of transformers really have a deep story it's always the same, big ass robots kicking the **** out of each other. i love it and i will always love it.

G.I.Joe: Sigma 6 had similar enhancer suits called "Sigma Suits".

As for the suits, they referred to them as "Delta Six Accelerator Suits" in the trailer. "Sigma Six" would have been a better choice, but that's just me.

I was just commenting to a friend the other day that after being somewhat disappointed by ROTF (did like it better the second time though), GI Joe just could be the sleeper action movie of the summer.
Most people expect it to suck so it'll probably be pretty good. Guess we'll know in a few weeks.

Every time I see a preview for Joe, it just reminds me how there's always something about it I dislike. The first trailer had the pretty badly CG Snake-Eyes doing a backflip over the car. Personally, I was looking forward to seeing Ray Park as Snake-Eyes, not a bad looking computer effect. I'll admit though I am a bit biased on the real vs CG argument. 99% of hte time I can spot CG, and this time especially I think doing it real, or even mixed (real backflip compositied into the shot) would have looked better.

But I decided to wait before making up my mind. And then we got the accelerator suits. And the really bad looking Cobra Commander. And the fact that Marlon Wayans is in every fricking promo for the movie. I mean seriously, whoever casted him really should have taken a look at Dungeons & Dragons and figured out he's not appropriate for an action film.

Still, part of me wants to see it, but not enough to see it theatrically. I might wait and see some of the comments after it comes out (No critics though. Many of them don't know a fun film from a hole in the ground.)

Hrmm, well well well, just saw a tv spot for G.I. Joe... I say that Joe looks good--though it's not out yet, Joe and Formers in my opinion will be both good. but yes that site must be filled with bay haters, sure his humor is.. immature, but I say to the bay haters... "piss--OFF".

I'm a fan of both. though wasn't impressed with Sigma Six, but that's only because of my dislike towards the Anime style.

I don't think it would be hard to make a movie better than ROTF, that being said I don't think GI Joe is it. I was psyched about GI Joe till I saw the "Exo-suits". exo-suit = epic fail IMO

When I first saw the G.I. Joe Trailer (the one that begins with the Eiffel tower's destruction) I thought it was awesome. I had some doubts about it since it was directed by the guy who made the crappy Mummy films, and the "accelerator" suits bear a powerful resemblance to the Nano suits in the PC game Crysis I almost thought it was a direct, blatant, in-your-face plagiarization.

Oh what the heck, it still looks cool. I'll go watch it sometime after the release when the cinemas won't be so crowded.

Do people really think ROTF doesn't have a clear story line? I didn't think it coul be much clearer.

How can ROC be better than ROTF when ROC doesn't have any Transformers in?!

Alright -the editing room rumor was false, but you shouldn't tell me what capacity people I know worked on the movie. That's a huge assumption as well as insulting.

I think that G.I. Joe has its work cut out for it to top Revenge Of The Fallen. I'm not going to pass judgement just yet. And even then, I wouldn't really try to make a comparison because they're two different movies. I really want to see it. Although, I think the suits do look a little over the top, but we'll see how it all works out. This is the only other movie this year that I really want to see.

I'm not a G.I. JOE fanatic, but I'm excited about the film because it has Christopher Eccleston in it!

And he's coupled with Dennis Quad and Ray Park! The film already has a damn-sight more talent than ROTF!

(Before you nitpick, Park is trained in WuShu; it's a talent! Darth Maul? That was all him...Except the voice, obviously... :-B )

I've been compiling a scale list (largest to smallest) of the Film Transformers based on; vehicle/alternate modes (with the best dimension data possible), as many official charts I could find & most crucially, the figures I actually own & desire! If anyone would like a bit of assistance in scale or would simply like a peek at the list, do say so! ^^

(Also been working on something big; I'm a writer, so that's a clue... ;))

Likewise. I think that people should always be real stuntmen unless absolutely impossible in a film. CGI humans, 90% of the time, just do not move the way a real person does. Look at Blade II, with the fight infront of the big UV Lamps, or the Matrix II, with Neo vs a million Smiths...both look bad.

In fact, some of the film is quite good.

:slaps forehead:

What's with the Bay-bashing these days ?

Transformers 2 didn't live up to the good things we saw in TF 1. But there's no need to compare GIJoe to TF2; if GIJoe is gonna be any good it has to be good on its own merits.

I'm probably not going to see GIJoe because i wasn't a fan of the series, that's the only reason. If i go i'll go with friends to see The Baroness.

Now Avatar: that is gonna be better than Revenge of The Fallen.

Erm well it could possibly do better opening than ROTF in the US as america does have it fixation with the military and liking to think its the worlds police, but when your talking number you have to remember the box office total will be for world wide numbers which is the one to bet. Studios are a bit too domestic centric.

Sadly I do not think that the take will be that great in non US teritories, GI Joes as a world wide brand is just not that big,. Large parts of Asia, the middle east hell even Europe havent had GI Joe toys since the early 90's let alone any thing else.

Im hard pressed to think of many comic shops that stock the nontransformer comics for the Joes.

Im also guessing it may get limited releaes in coutries such as Latvia, Lituania, Macedonia and certain other ex soviet block countries and it may not get released at all in other less than friendly to the US countries.

I personally will go see it as will my Russian girl friend (she loves trashy blow stuff up American pop corn flicks, she loved ROTF). Trying to get her to come to botcon next year.

Every comic shop I've been to in Canada carries GIJoe stuff. I'd be willing to bet on Mexico having a fair liking of it too. And, of course, GIJoe, as Action Force, has a storied history in Britain.
