You have to understand something, Autobots and Decepticons are not designed to be evil or good. They are not robots in the primitive sense. They have emotions and feelings like humans. A Decepticon can choose to do something good and a Autobot can choose to do something bad. And you know what? I like em like that because it gives the robots more depth as characters. The other Autobots obviously came to Earth during the mess of killings to the other Autobots. That's why Hound, Crosshairs and Drift was very dark-like. Even Hound told Optimus that it's only 4 of them left which means the 4 Autobots survived some encounters with humans that killed their allies/family. Their anger is justified and the in-fighting between them makes sense as Bumblebee doesn't strike me as leader type material. He's like a 18 year old warrior being told to command other season older warriors. Autobots have been at each others necks before in other continuations and I seriously doubt Drift was going to kill Bee when they were scuffling. I just feel most people wasn't ready for a more darker side of the Autobots it seems. I appreciate it as it makes sense for the situation at hand. Autobots can't be HAPPY GO LUCKY all the damn time!

If you read some of the IDW comics as well as the old Marvel,Marvel UK comics,they're kinda dark there too in those continuities.. I've been reading up.

Everyone I ask you this question, if you were a soldier fighting to defend the humans for 6 years, many of your friends risking life to defend the people of another planet, having humans as your allies and declining to go home as Earth and its people {you think} accept you, than out of no where, They start blowing all of your friends apart and you must hide with broken honor with the humans and no where to go, how would you feel?

They're all mentally ill. Especially Optimus Prime who is nothing short of psychotic.

Prime is a hiporitce - after all, they are defending Earth mostly because it is the only safe place for them. Plus after beign saved and revived by human, he kinda must help us.

Also i like how Autobot Team is now a Badass Ream, each memeber of squad is now a highly skilled warrior. This is great improvement over first trilogy, even if it's also shame that we had wait 7 years to see true Autobot Soldier's Elite.

It's almost like you're basing personalities off the original G1 cartoons, which is quite ironic because nearly every character had none.

If you read the comics, which have always had deeper characterisations compared to all animated mediums, you'll find a lot of the same things.

I didnt like any of the transformer characters in AOE. It was good to hear Frank Welker as Galvatron but the rest tended to suffer from the typical Transformers trend of being a bit extreme or stereotypes. Lockdowns voice didnt fit him at all.

I'm convinced that you people who label these characters as "stereotypes," don't even know the meaning of the word.

I don't think the rest of us use the word definitions coming from a sociopath.

Seriously, what does that even mean?

I absolutely agree. I think personalities of the Autobots are the thing I hated the most in this movie. All the story is a nonsense of violence and Optimus seems like a drunk bull looking only for vengeance. I mean, ok, they're under attack by humans, but Optimus would never act that way; this idea could've been the chance to make Autobots become like a sort of ronins, instead of a gang.

The Dinobots were another delusion. No personality at all, no place in the plot (which plot?), just toys for the toys.

I think the best TFmovie is the third; this AOE is maybe even worse then ROTF. I hope TF5 will be a better movie.

While the Autobots are more like Antiheroes this time around no doubt about it I don't think I'd go as far as calling them horrible people as I see them as pretty much mentally damaged bots.

Optimus has grown not to be that fond of humans anymore yes however he wasn't always like that as we've seen throughout the series. He does start out as how he was in G1 being a noble soul that's willing to help out the humans but as ROTF and DOTM showed us he found out they've been keeping secrets from him not to mention that his own mentor turned traitor on him and the Autobot cause then having almost all of his team wiped out by KSI made him go to the point of being done with putting up with the bad things happening. However Cade and his family reminded him about what he used to stand for and even though he's not changed fully Optimus did understand this later on. but even then we saw that he's not willing to see any innocent human life die like saving Tessa/ Granted he did shoot Attinger but it was to save Cade's life and even if he held a grudge against Tucchi's character he didn't shoot him because he knew it wouldn't help anything. He's more of a broken man that's trying to save what's left of his team and I'm interested in this direction because it explores the idea of what would happen if Optimus was pushed to his limit and is at a point of no longer being idealistic anymore. Even when he's violent in the movie it's at least more understandable this time around not like in DOTM when he did things that are considered questionable.

Bumblebee yeah he went beserk on Stinger in a vainty fit that Knockout himself would do but other then that he never showed any agression to the humans though I think it's implied that him and Drift may had a past together.

Drift had his moments of being very flawed true but like Bee he never showed any signs of hating humans and having more concerns to help Optimus. Also his toy bio did mention him being a former Decepticon so that would explain that he's not fully gotten rid of his con habits.

Crosshairs is an a-hole no doubt about it but to be fair the movie did acknowldge that he's a bot that not even his fellow Autobots like that much as Cade said about him not being missed much. He's a type of bot we don't see often in the franchise as being like an Autobot version of Starscream which is both funny and interesting.

Hound aside from his trigger happy nature and his over fondness of shooting humans he did come across as someone who's very loyal to Optimus and to his friends well the ones that aren't Crosshairs and Drift from the looks of it.

In short yeah they're pretty flawed and they didn't exactly show signs of moments that aren't violent but the difference is I feel between AOE and the past movies and it's that the movie isn't hiding that fact that these bots are messed up. It's in fact aware of this and most of the humans do react to it and even call them out on it or in Cade's case trying to help Optimus remember what he use to stand for. Was it done well. Not really. I felt that they should have their messed up moments toned down so that if they presented their flaws and good elements to them like how we were presented in films like GOTG I think people wouldn't have that much problem with them. Makes me wonder if in the future moives we'll see new Autobots show up and may even call the main team out for their actions since like I said AOE is aware that the main bots are a little messed up.
