Don’t know if this has been a topic before but I was wondering if anyone had a favorite toy finding story. Mine was working for TRU we were doing inventory for the first time in 3 years. My job was to pull the black metal way from under the shelves away and pull anything that was under there out (3 years of floor gunk is NASTY). I was on the isle were the TFs use to be and low and behold… I pulled out a g1 reissue Jazz and Prowl. Even better, both had been removed from the inventory so they were only 1 cent each. I ran to the checkout of someone who I knew wouold cover for me, threw em up there, gave her a nickle and told her to keep the change .

My favorite was that i ordered a Energon Optimus Prime in my local store ... i waitet and waitet for it ...

And suddenly Christmas night i opened a big pressent ...

It was my Energon Optimus Prime! Well i didnt need too gib money ofc, cause my mom bought it That was a wounderfull night, and actually ... it was the transformer there turned me too a collector!

I remember being very excited when I found Energon Ultra Magnus. I had my girlfriend at the time buy it for me since I was broke. It was the only one I ever saw in any retail store.

Mine so far would have to be getting 2 Classic Jetfire's for $14 at Toys R Us a few days before Christmas.

Yeah that was another one for me... When they had come out in UK my dad happened to be going to Bermingham, Eng so i tagged along (NOT for the purpose of simply getting a toy But when i hit london, there must have been a hundred just sitting there. Ended up coming home with him, Armada Jetfire and Skywarp

July 2001.

RID was still roughly 2 months away from showing up, and I went to an Electronics Boutique and saw Sideburn and X-Brawn, no one else had 'em, so I grabbed em up.

At Kay-Bee in 2002, I saw stuff was being reduced, but I saw RID Sky-Byte, the Predacon Stooges, and the Bullet Trian team. Each was marked for only $5.00 each, orginally each would have been $15.00, so I got myself $75.00 worth of RID megas for only $25.00.

Another find was at K-mart in mid 2004. I saw an Armada Powerlinx Red Alert. Normally he'd be $20.00, but the box was in such horrible condition, it was mashed and crushed, but Red Alert inside was perfectly intact, and was only $10.00. So I grabbed him as well.

In 2004, I traded my RID Ruination set, along with a few G1's I had and got the following:

Armada Jetfire, Armada Powerlinx Hotshot, Armada Thrust, Armada Blurr, Armada Overload, Armada Demolishor, Armada Smokescreen, Armada Buzzsaw, The Armada Space Team Minicons, Armada Thundercracker, and Binaltech Smokescreen, and that package came in on my birthday.

Just this Friday actually. I was working putting up fire alarms in a new building near my local SuperKmart. This Kmart never has anything...Ever. But when I got off work there was just something in the back of my mind telling me to go stop by there. So I walk in thinking "what the Hell am I even doing in here" and turn into the toy aisle....Wait. Is that what I think it is?! Holy crap it's Classics Jetfire! 2 months after his release I finally have one to call my own from the store that never has anything!

Although he's still out in my car unopened.

I've got a couple.

TRU summer 1999. I finally find the bot I've been looking for: TM2 Cybershark! And, do to a computer glitch or something, I got him for a whopping 3.99. Awsome!

Super Wal-Mart march 2005. My local Wal-Mart was doing major renovation on their toy section so they had to make room. I got like 4 of the Ironhide/Jetfire 2-packs, 3 Landmine/Scorponok 2-packs, and 4 or 5 deluxe 2-packs, all for $3 a piece. I added it up and I think it wound up being like $200 worth in TF's for like $40. Oh, man, double awsome!

But, my best story EVER is: Last summer. I'm talking to my 28-year-old co-worker and he mentions he has some TF's from when he was younger. I'm like, okay, bring EVERYTHING you have to work and I'll make you an offer. Okay, he get's there the next day with 2 HUGE rubbermaid containers FULL of vintage G1 figs. Highlights include a %100 COMPLETE Reflector, a %100 complete Targetmaster Cyclonus, a fully functional and %100 complete Trypticon, a red Bumblebee, and like a handful of small Pretenders, more Micromasters than I care to count, and then a bunch of other stuff like random accecories and stuff. Everything was in about C-7 to C-9 condition (SHOCKER considering the age of this stuff). Okay. Now guess how much I paid for all this. Go ahead, guess, I'll wait...... $50 even. The really awsome part is that I only kept about half of the stuff, the highlights I listed among others. The other half I sold on ebay for a whopping $430.... Oh, dag, son! To this day, I still can't believe it happened. And it couldn't have happened at a better time cuz all the profit pretty much became my Botcon budget last year. So, yeah, those are my stories.

at my tru they had cybertron supreme starscream mis priced for $5 picked him up in a heartbeat oh and my myclone ramjet i found on my walmart's toyshelves at work for $2

I got you all beat , I got 3 G1 mint in sealed box figures, Smokescreen, Insecticon Delux Ransack and Target Master Point Blank.. And where were they found you ask ? In the garbage lol lol.. someone was doing spring cleaning and came across them, they must have been bought for gifts but forgot all about them.. My brother is a garbage man so when he found them he passed them along to me Ransacks box is a bit damaged but the tape still seals him up and Point Blank Shifted in his box but he too is still sealed.. SmokeScreen is just smoking , im going to have him graded and sealed up.. And no they didnt smell like garbage or anything lol

One day while window shopping in a local Target store, I saw a Classics Grimlock. I'd been searching for weeks and hadn't seen a single one. Unfortunately, I had no money. I get home to find a letter from my aunt for me in the mail. I open it, and inside was twenty bucks! The next day, my dad drives me down there, and I got him.

I was looking for a normal green Cybertron Crumplezone back in September/October, but I couldn't find one. My family opened our Christmas presents three days before Dec. 25 because we had to leave town to visit my grandparents. I bought Classics Mirage early Sunday. His paint was splattered badly leaving a large portion above his right eye painted silver. We later stopped by the only K-mart I know of in Texas, and behold, green Cybertron Crumplezone. After begging my parents, we bought it and returned Mirage. I later bought another Mirage with excellent paint.

nice find, how much did you wind up paying for it ? i don't go into those toy shops anymore cause everyone i had ever been in were blood suckers...

I'm not exactly sure of the price total(around $26 probably), but one of my favorite hauls was from a year and a half ago, Target clearance:

I got a bunch of Universe stuff: Magna Stampede and Stockade, Whirl, Longhorn, Nightslash Cheetor, Frostbite, and Blastcharge.

From Energon I got: Steamhammer, repainted Strongarm, and Offshoot.

What's great was that my bro picked up all that stuff except Frostbite and Blastcharge for me. Also, nearly all of those figures became instant favorites.

However, it kinda doesn't compare to what more or less got me started back into collecting Transformers. I was at the Flea Market,and in a box I found a decent Ultra Magnus trailer and Metroplex, for $1 total. I was so happy that day. For that reason, I love Flea Markets and Yard Sales, and have garnered a lot of guys from them over the past couple years. Slim pickings a lot of the time, but I love the hunt.

I have to say that it was finding classic jetfire, cliffjumper, ramjet and ultra magnus/skywarp two pack all in the same week.

for me it had to be all of wave 1 of the classics line all at toys r us

and i went there to find cybertron defence scattorshot
i have been searching for him for 5 months!!!
and im in the uk so maybe thats why i cant find him
but ive seen gf vector prime and quickmix so cyb def scattorshot should be out

if anyone knows where he is in the uk then please can u tell me

For me it's gotta be walking into Forbidden Planet just before Christmas and finding Classic Grimlock for 18 euro. There hadn't been any sign of the classics in Ireland at all at that stage so finding Grim, especially for such a great price, was pretty damn cool

EDIT: Oh, got another one. Not particularily exciting but getting 6 Armada mincons in Smyths for 99c was fairly nice

I have two

first one is Bidding on some pretenders on ebay and i won all three of them, (longtooth, Pincer and Bludgeon) and i notice that the seller is in the same town as me so i Email him and ask if i can pick them up.
When i get there i find out that this guys son was heavily into TF's and had recently died so his parents were selling off the rest of them.
Long story short £400 bought me

Fort Max complete and in C8 condition
Headmaster Chromedome
Headmaster Hardhead
Original Ginrai Release
Ironhide
Springer
Slugfest and overkill
and he threw in a load (40) micromasters

Back around Xmas in 96 (or 97 I don't recal) I was walking into the comic book store, now at the time I didn't go to
this store all that much, but I was in area and decided to
drop in and see what they got. And standing on the counter was Fortress Maximus (other than the radar dish for the super-bot's chest and Cebreres's gun he was complete) and I
just about fanited. Apprently some guy sold a ton of his old TFs to the store and they hadn't even priced him and I said
"How much?" I got him for $175.

I think I do have a pretty decent story.
Years ago there was a retail store chain named Zayre, well some years ago it closed down It seemed to happen pretty much overnight) and all the stores were closed and boarded up pretty much overnight. This store closing happened down here sometime around 1988 or early 1989.
Fast forward a couple of years to 1991 and a little back story, My uncle is an electrician and is responsible for checking and removing (if necessary) the electrical wiring of buildings to be demolished and then wiring new buildings and I worked with him for about 2 years…
ANYWAY he gets the contract to check the abandoned and sealed up since Zayre building and I go with him.. The Winn Dixie company (the ones that bought the building said that they had merchandise still in the store and whatever we found we could keep if we wanted to.) was opening a new Winn Dixie supercenter and needed the zayre building torn down ASAP so we went in..

We could tell that the roof leaked in some areas and some bums had been living in there for a while. I ventured into the toy section and made my way to the spot where I remembered the Transformers were located and boy was I surprised at what I found.. Now the boxes were damaged but the toys inside were in great condition and I got to take them free of charge (whatever we did not take ended up as rubble.) the only problem is that I was limited to what I could put in my uncle’s truck so I picked TF’s that I did not have that they had still sitting on the shelves.

I ended up with

Targetmaster Hot Rod
Targetmaster Sureshot
Gnaw

I also snagged a couple of Bionic six figures..

There was a lot more I could have snagged from other toy lines the only problem was we were supposed to be working and my uncle only allocated a short amount of time to “grab and go” before we started to do our jobs.
