In the future year of 2011, Hasbro looked at LEGO and said "You know, I have a feeling that those will be a hot seller soon!" With the wisdom gained from this overwhelming instance of foresight, Hasbro brought out their new product line. KRE-O! An innovative new style of toy made of modular building bricks that can be used to create play sets, along with articulated mini figures that can interact with said play sets! It boggles the mind that this unique toy range barely made it 3 years!
In all seriousness, I don't know what Hasbro was thinking when they threw their had into the building brick toy ring after decades of LEGO, and even Mega Bloks domination. They started well enough, with making mini figures and sets based off of Transformers, and G.I. Joe, then they overreached themselves. Star Trek. Battleship (yes, the movie). The Facebook game Cityville! They also had a short lived Dungeons and Dragons line, which I wanted to go all in on, but sadly that didn't go far. Anyhow, today we will be looking at their Transformers line, specifically the Custom Kreon Soundwave!
Now they made several different styles. A standard Kreon, which was a little figure with a weapon and tampograph details. Then there were Micro Changers, that you could take apart and turn into their little vehicle modes (that barely looked like anything), then there were what Soundwave here is, which is a Custom Kreon, which means he comes with an aft load and a half of extra parts that you can attach to him.
Putting on a few things is fun, but going nuts and slapping every part he comes with onto him amuses me, especially when he can't stand the hell up for pictures. He looks alright with all the other little Kreon Transformer figures standing around him, and he does a decent enough job of looking like Soundwave since he matches the officially designated Soundwave colour scheme.
Anyway, I don't have a closer for this review thought up, so just look at the pictures, I'm going to go make some stew.
