Yes, the classic board game is also being made into a movie and the first two trailers are out.

Trailer 1

Trailer 2

Amazing how similar it is to another movie based on Hasbro property, makes me wonder just how much influence Hasbro has over the directors ...

I saw the first trailer about 2 months ago, and really did think it was leftover footage from the Transformers films. I might still go see it, but it would have been much better if the movie didn't involve aliens

It would be kinda cool if one of the battle ships transforms into that cancelled ROTF Tidalwave CGI designs.

Yea it does look and sound exactly like Transformers. It actually intrigues me the more I think about it, I might go see this after all.

So are all hasbro based movies gong to be like this from now on? Oh man, now I want to see the Monopoly trailer.

Oh man, I just noticed, this film will seem so silly with it's German title

After watching the first trailer my thoughts were "Why did they need to do this?" and "Why aliens?"

After the second trailer, now all I can think of is "Why did they need to cut-and-paste the Transformers movies aesthetic onto Battleship?"

'cause it's what Hasbro wants?

Maybe all that Bay hatred is directed at the wrong target after all ...

Yes, Kurtzman and Orci are responsible for the aesthetics in both Transformers and Battleship. That makes perfect sense.

No-talent hacks. And not just because of Transformers.

Congratulations Hasbro, you used movies to bring me back to Transformers and also to ruin G.I. Joe and Battleship. Way to go. It's as if there aren't enough alien movies already.

Hasbro Exec 1: Hey, we need to make another toy into sci-fi a movie so we can make millions. What should we do?

Hasbro Exec 2: How about an alien movie? There aren't enough of those out there.

Hasbro Exec 1: I've got it! Let's put aliens in one of our board games!

Hasbro Exec 2: Ingenious! Call Orci and Kurtzman and let's do this!

That's my version of how this came about.

Why are people blaming Orci and Kurtzman in all of this? They aren't involved with this movie in any way.

Because Lord of the Dance over there needed another thread to spew his garbage into.

Battleship, or: "We need a semi-sequel to Transformers to get extra money"

Am I the only person who thinks this about the film Battleship? I don't know if this should be posted here due to the topic, but it seems to me like Hasbro is pretty desperate to recreate the success of the Transformers films with this one. The mechanical design, the plot, and the characters all seem like pretty shameless and lazy attempts to mimic Bay's style since they couldn't get him back for another movie right away.

Personally, I think Battleship looks frakin' stupid and shouldn't have been made. I won't be wasting my money on it.

I think it looks a lot like the TF movies. It's a rip off. But that's why I know I'll like it.

This would probably be better of in General Discussion.

Anyway, in one of the trailers they even point out that this film is from the creators of Transformers. By that, they mean the producers. When I saw the first trailer, I immediately thought, "so this is what they did with the leftover TF footage." I hated it. Then I saw the 2nd trailer and hated it a bit less. And not because it's very similar to TF, but because I was looking forward to this movie being about Earth and humans fighting each other, not aliens. It's been a while since I've seen a movie with an awesome naval battle, and considering the title and nature of the game it's based on, this should have been the best ever.

I think that the whole "invading aliens" concept is getting worn out as it has saturated Hollywood in the last 6-7 years, probably beginning with the first TF movie. It was fine to have that, and even RoTF (as poopy as it was) and obviously DotM was a monster hit. But, they had Cowboys and Aliens (which was pretty good), Predators (also fun), Skyline (f**king LAME) and the upcoming Prometheus (not being a fan of the Alien franchise, I could not care less about it). There were a few others that I can't think of, but, personally, I've had enough of aliens for a while. Let's get back to kicking other humans' asses. For this reason, I'm very happy to see Stallone and Ahnuld making a comeback. 80s-90s action FTW.

There you go again, showing off. blasted mod...

Anyway, if there's nothing else good out there at the time, I might see this in anticipation of some fun battle scenes, and maybe a hint of acting, due to Liam Neeson's involvement.

Wow, and unnecessary ripoff to an already unnecessary movie. Looks like the Asylum version is going to have twice as much "Why did they do this?" than the rest of their movies.
