When did this happen in Armada (which was only one season, btw)?
Decepticons can be consider as a wining side of "Earth Campaign", because they gain the most powerfull known weapon in the universe, and Prime died, leaving autobot with young and weak leader.
And then the Cons took their big weapon of death and destruction and just ran away, leaving Earth under full Autobot control and protection. :P
Well, while I agree that this was kinda strange. I can understand Megatron: He never had bad experience with Earth, unlike G1, Movie and Animated Counterparts, and he already had gained what he came for. Destroyin Earth when he technically won there was kinda uncesseary. Also, you don't expect to see Earth destroyed for real in show mostly for kids, don't you?

It's hard to deny, and it's hard to mind him this. But it is still not enough to excuse he's weak directorship.

Sad but true, also movies never were created for fans, but for teenagers and action movies fans. Bu you see, the main problem is, that already mentioned movies like LotR and Star Wars were good movies in term of fights and action without beign dumb and bad unfair.

What can I say?

Paramount doesn't argue with ticket sales, Hasbro doesn't argue with toy sales, and Bay doesn't argue with the zeroes on his pay check.

Oh, I never expected him to destroy Earth, no. All he was trying to destroy with the Hydra Cannon was the Autobots' base on Earth, not the planet itself. So with that base destroyed, he could have been free to conquer the Earth. But even though he failed to destroy that base, he didn't even attempt try again after the first time and just up and left the planet even though he was still fully capable of taking over it.

Maybe I'm just strange in that I liked all three movies. They're not G1, sure, but I'm a sucker for action/sci-fi flicks and Peter Cullen's voice is just awesome behind any character. Yeah, they could have done without the dog humping, but it's there so what do you do? Look at it this way... even if you don't like the films they did make Ha$bro a bunch of dough, so we got lots of 'formers on our shelves, right? Even if you don't like the "Bayformers" there's the generations line and the stuff from Fall of Cybertron which probably wouldn't exist if the movies had tanked. It also means we might get even more masterpiece and G1 re-issues. Who don't want that? :KREMZEEK:

I'll just hope AoE is great and make up my mind about it when I see it. :-?

I get so sick and tired of people saying, "so what if it's not G1, I still like it." As if the only criticism of Bayformers is that it's not G1. It's like you're saying anyone who doesn't care for Bayformers is "too much of a geek because it's the kewlist thang evar!"

My dislike of Bayformers has nothing to do with "is it G1 or not." It has everything to do with these movies being complete trash, full of unfunny frat boy humor including weird racism, gay sex jokes, dog piss, robot piss, fetish shots of every female lead ... Not to mention the characters all act like they're on cocaine all the time, the stories have no internal or external logic (Transformers fly through space without spaceships, where they will experience colder temperatures than anywhere on planet Earth, yet how do you stop them? Why with cold of course!) and they're just dumb.

If you like it, fine, good for you. Don't try and disparage people who have different (and most likely BETTER) taste than yourself by trying to pigeon hole them into the whole "it's not GEEWON! TRUKK NOT MONKEY" crap.

It varies widely, but unless you're in direct sunlight, it's colder than any place on Earth.

He was in his robot mode. Vehicle modes seem to be much more resilient when it comes to environmental dangers. Besides, Megatron was offline to begin with. It was most likely the ice in his joints preventing him from breaking free, and the humans probably know where his weak points are.

That's not just cold. They basically weaponized ice to contain one Cybertronian. Plus, I'm sure it was more than just ice. All these years, I kind of assumed they used liquid nitrogen or something like that.

The thing with movies like these is that they're designed to work best when you watch it the first time. They're action movies, and you usually find yourself caught up in the all the explosions and fighting so much so that the details don't matter. It's only when you pick through it with a fine-tooth comb on a DVD or BD that it starts to fall apart.

The thing is, it was never meant to hold up to close inspection.

You pay for your ticket, you walk into the theater, you enjoy yourself for the next hour or two, and O&K's job is done.

As I've pointed out before, TF movies have more in common with the Highlander movies than trilogies. There's little continuity between them, because each was supposed to be a standalone movie. Paramount most likely want to be able to pull the plug if a TF movie should fail at any point. Even after the success of three movies, they still refuse to make any promises of more movies in the future.

It is hard to deny, that watch this movie with a few friends in the Cinema, drinking all bears you are able to bring inside is fun. But you may say it about pretty much any action movie.

And as much as I like idea of semi-standalone sequels, I think that in Bayformers it is going too far, it's kinda like someone use Time Machine to constantly change the past... Each movie is something about "New revelation about reason why Transforemrs are on Earth"

IMO, it was never meant to be more than that, other than to promote Hasbro's TF toys. Most likely, it's us collectors and fans who place such importance on the movie as the first ever live-action TF movie.

Yeah, it does get formulaic after a while. But the thing is, it's a formula that works as far as ticket sales are concerned, and no one in his right mind would want to rock the boat with such a huge money-making franchise.
