Downsizing, plastic quality, construction quality.

We are of one mind on this, and since all these aspects are being discussed to death recently I've not really felt the need to weigh in on them. I was only trying to address the complaints regarding simpler designs, as this is something on which I don't thing HasTak really deserve the stick that they're getting. It may well not cause quite as much consternation if it wasn't coming on top of all the other problems lately. Or probably it would, because if there's one thing this fandom is good at it's complaining.

More simplistic transformations are one thing...poor designs are another. You can avoid floating heads, gaps all over, and parts that don't lock into place that lead to poopy looks or poopy play and still have a straight forward transformation.

These figures are pure garbage. Jazz has some terrible arm joints, that get loose right out of the package, along with his hips. Making him pose is next to impossible.

Don't get me started on "Mini" Prime. Stupid over-sized gun, floating head, and next to no arm articulation.

Glad I only bought two, won't make the mistake of buying any others.

True they aren't great, but it's the best thing what we can get at the moment. I just hope that this downgrade will not be a new trend from Hasbro or Takara/Tomy in the next future. :-?

"but it's the best thing we can get at the moment" just feeds them a whole bunch of "HAH! We were right! They WILL buy them! Make 'em all like this." into their already messed up minds.

This trend will continue until someone actually puts on a BIG show for Hasbro that makes them see "Whoa. Okay. We're about to be lynched."

I've owned (and still do) several TakaraTomy releases. Sturdy. The plastic is solid. Even Masterpiece Rodimus with flawed design choices, is better built than today's offerings. In the time since Rodimus and the DOTM line, we've seen changes in plastic, size, quality, construction, and an increase in price.

Hasbro's Masterpiece Rodimus? Breaks. Without you ever laying a hand on it. Plastic's crap.
FOC? Like I said, I've seen sturdier plastic in disposable utensils. Jazz flexes. And now, TakaraTomy's using thin, and I mean really thin, plastic on their PRID/Arms Micron line. Breakdown's a fantastic figure, but most of his body shell is just that, a shell. Akin to an egg's. When TT cuts corners, that's a bad, bad sign.

This trend will continue. We have the power to stop it.

No we don't

Fuel costs ^, Dollar value v = high costs, and lower quality.

You want to change that?, register to vote, because only the government has the ability to stop destroying commerce.
Email your Representatives and Senators and tell them to stop spending money, and bring the Debt down. It's the only way you can stop this current issue. On top of that China is looking at a slow down in it's economy so I expect the costs to go up even further, and the QC to take a dive, as labor disputes start erupting.

If you stop buying, or send a petition, it will just go on deaf ears, or worse, look like the market has sunken, and product will be cut in half for next year.

This manufacturing issue is across all fronts, and much bigger then emails to companies. Takara and Hasbro have the same common deal, everything is made in China and subject to world economic issues.

Very much this. Although even economic policies of major world governments can only do so much to encourage growth. A lot of the problem comes down to poor performance in the banking sector and low consumer confidence, and even the strongest political platform can't turn those around overnight.

This is however straying well beyond the topic of TF toys, and political commentary in the toy forum, however relevant, has rarely been encouraged in the past.

Also, for the record, I'm in the UK so am not commenting directly on US government but a wider international trend and certainly not looking to get into any political arguments, so won't be posting further myself on any direct replies to this. Said my piece and that will do for me.
