Beast Wars movie discussion

China.Org has reported of a potential Beast Wars movie as well as the (still rumored) Optimus Prime movie. Bumblebee movie producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura was also careful to state that the chances of subsequent movies are riding on the success of Bumblebee at the Box Office.

He also mentioned the animated movie was in its writing stage, though with other titles already riding on Bumblebee's success – being in the writing stage doesn't exactly guarantee even the animated movie's release, either.

China.org wrote:"We have an animated movie in the writing stage right now. We are trying to figure out an Optimus Prime movie, while the Beast Wars franchise has the chance, too."

However, the producer stressed this could only happen under one condition: "Bumblebee" must be a success.”

You can read the full report here, which also mulls over design choices for the Bumblebee movie and its more G1 centric aesthetic.

With the Bumblebee movie still being pushed at the cinema is it too early to be giving hints of Beast Wars and Optimus Prime to generate hype for more movies or is it a carrot to generate additional sales for the Bumblebee movie? If Beast Wars or Optimus Prime is going ahead – what are you hoping for? Share your thoughts on the Energon Pub right here on Seibertron.com!

Its too early to say that [if its a flop] at the moment. Bumblebee only released in China yesterday, which is now a massive market for Hollywood movies.

So what’s the game plan here? For Transformers fans to see Bumblebee over and over until it’s a success? Bee is far from my favorite character. I didn’t originally intend to see Bumblebee, but I decided to go to the theater anyway because of the G1 sequences (which I suspect were tossed in at the last minute to draw fans like me in). I actually hoped the BB movie would fail and the Transformers movie franchise would be rebooted closer to it’s G1 roots sometime in the future. It’s sad that everything is contingent upon BB doing well because I’m not shelling out any more dollars to see it (I’m actually thinking about taking the family out to see Aquaman tonight). Hopefully Paramount or whoever will be satisfied with the 350 or so million Bumblebee MIGHT make.

A beast wars movie? Make it is own timeline and I'm in.

Also the China opening seems to be a good deal better then the American one. Fingers crossed bee makesyso much of its money back but its getting the marketing costs back that's the problem these days. Especially since they tend to keep that figure close to their chests.

Considering it has taken 11 years for a Live Action Transformers film with an overall positive consensus, leave Beast Wars alone.

Not really. Its success never rode entirely on the US release, it was within its opening weekend range so it at least met expectations there. It also came out of its second weekend at $20M maintaining its 3rd place spot. Worldwide it's already made $196,611,248 so its made back all of its costs and that's ahead of the Chinese release this weekend and the Japanese release in March plus home video so it seems to be doing fine. It isn't breaking records, but I doubt it'll prevent anything new from being made, probably just effect future budgets.

For people to say it's failing, I really can't see how it is. The general consensus is that it's really good, so word of mouth would surely help it. I didn't expect a movie with this budget to outsell TLK, but I didn't expect it to flop either. And I still don't. TLK flopped because its budget was also very high and it couldn't make its money back despite its large advertising budget. Bumblebee is a low budget movie, so it just being a moderate success is in of itself pretty much a miracle.

Also with all the negative comments being half people saying they want something "new and woke like Bay" and the other half being geewhiners saying they want something "new and woke like G1", I find the movie to be literally the perfect balance of both. Now let's just hope future ones aren't afraid to stray away from Bay's continuity for creative purposes.

Hot damn, hire me as a mod so I can clean up this crap, lmao

The reason some are complaining is not from being geewhiners, but people like myself feel Bayverse left too little room for much new. It's not that I hate Bayverse, I just want the writers and directors to have MORE creative liberty.

Stop being abusive towards a general direction when you don't really even know what people are talking about. It's the Bayverse timeline that peeves a lot of people, not necessarily change and trying new things. Though there are those kind of nutjobs as well in any fandom. Believe me, my Facebook is flooded with them. X_X

Edit: Also, @a specific person above, please learn how to use punctuation. It puts a dampering on your credibility when your entire argument is a century long run-on sentence.

Please no, some things should be left untouched & unspoiled, easpecially by certain producers, directors and scriptwriters.

Maybe they can try doing an Animorphs movie (it can even have Rhianna in it), no way that can ruin anything for anyone :)

Beast Wars lives on in the MP collection, it is better to leave it there, on a high note. "Modern" tastes would seek to tweak Beast Wars based on the ego of Script Writer/Director/Producer, be that film or new TV show.
If they really want to mess with something other than G1, just do a Go-Bots film and leave the rest of the Transformers legacy outside of Generation One in peace.

A go-bots vs Transformers vs GI Joe movie :-? Could work...

Also if we can get King Ghidora in an American Godzilla movie that incorporates King Kong into its expanded universe then we can get a beast wars movie.

So as long as they can do the Beast Modes visually in Live Action (let alone the fact they would butcher the Bot Modes) that equals Beast Wars Movie??

Hey dragons! You've sprouted off like this before, and I pulled you up then, and I'm doing it now. You don't speak for the majority, just because your circle of friends feel that way doesn't mean everyone else does.

Do NOT criticise a person for their spelling, grammar, punctuation ... or their use of the written word in general. Not everyone has English as their first language.

This new attitude of yours sucks. Tone down the anger and hostility.

There's no proof yet they would destroy the bot modes as so far we've now got two different ways that bot modes have been translated to the big screen. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt till we saw renders. Plus at the very least it wouldn't do anything to the beast wars product out there already.

Are we talking strictly transformers? As I think the majority love the G1 designs from the Cybertron scenes of Bumblebee. If we're talking non-tf then I submit Thanos and Deadpool.

I said I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and I will if this project goes anywhere.

Just Transformers. As for Deadpool, he is as close to comic book [design] verbatim onscreen as Sin City.

Beast Wars story is done. It had a beginning, middle and end. G1 died out and left potential unfulfilled, with room for expansion. Beast Wars didn't.
As I said, given how cool Scioli's new mini series is at the moment, I'd rather they do a Go-Bots Movie instead. Or even give one of the other Transformers offshoots some Live Action attention.
