Sometimes it's not how much material you change or remake, but seeing the important parts/pieces to customize in order to create a new look. I like how the bot's horns and chest resemble the original Soundwave. It took a good eye to see that just adding a mouthplate & removing wings could create a new version of Soundwave.

Okay, don't take this the wrong way, It's just some friendly critisism but I was thinking he would really pop as soundwave if you painted the buttons in silver onto his hips (the triangles are pretty much there already) and mabye paint the one nob attached to his left foot silver to replicate the eject button on his shoulder!
Again, not intended to be mean or snotty, I really do like what you did with him, just thought it would look more recognizable as soundwave.
